I tried on 6 dresses and the last one I tried on was the one. Maddie was super helpful and gave me great advice on each dress. The only downfall to my experience was how busy it was but that's not something I could help. My bridesmaids were able to get their dresses as well. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

We had appointments for bridesmaid and mother of the groom dresses (bride had a wonderful experience and purchased her dress through David's in Cedar Rapids) and had a very disappointing experience with the consultant assigned - Kandra or Kanda(?). For the bridesmaids she wasn't very accurate with sizing (measured at a 10 & 12 when they are 6 & 8) and when the dresses didn't fit after being brought and we asked for smaller sizes, she made excuses as to why smaller sizes wouldn't work and made it to be a hassle to find other sizes. When we asked about other styles or sizes she didn't make an effort to help. We ended up pulling dresses ourselves. She brought a versa dress and said you need to look online to see how to wear it. That seems to be something a consultant should know. She didn't help in any way and never spoke except when she wanted us to leave. The consultant was rude about the appointment timing and kept saying time was about up and that we needed to share a room (3 of us) because her second room was busy when we had booked both rooms for one and a half hours and she said we would need to come back because we took too long. For the mother of the groom she was no help and acted as though I was a hinderance. She showed me one location on the wall with black "mother of" dresses and said those were my only choices. I asked about others and was told if you don't see them in black they don't come in black. I was discouraged with no help and as bridesmaids were being fitted they couldn't help me. I pulled my own dresses and decided to give up. As we were leaving... The bridesmaids decided on a dress and ordered it but the consultant did the paperwork while the girls were trying to help me with mother of groom and she never talked to them about the order. The girls helped me pull some dresses and another floor person (Betsy) showed us an open room and was very very helpful with sizing and advice! She was a blessing in an otherwise disappointing day and I would have walked out empty handed if it wasn't for Betsy! She should receive a 5+ on this rating because she helped me and made the sale! Kanda or Kandra (to not even know her name says something in itself) was no help at all and made us nearly leave with a bad impression of the store and empty handed. Betsy saved the day! read more

I got my wedding gown here last week. I started at David's Bridal and after going to two other higher end shops, I came right back. We worked with Molly and she was absolutely wonderful and attentive. At the two other appointments, I was ignored, rushed through like I was just a number, a definitely not listened to. Molly was patient with me on what proved to be a very special day and when I called the store to see if I could come back to try on two dresses I loved again, she knew exactly which dresses I referred to and went and got them without me having to specify. She also let me come back on a busy Saturday 30 minutes before her shift was over and stayed late for me without making me feel like I had to rush at all. I am so grateful for her! I've been dreaming about wedding dress shopping my whole life and parts of it were downright awful. She saved it and made it wonderful. read more

I went here to try on wedding dresses and it was awful. The lady that helped me was very nice but the ladies at the front desk we're anything but. The lady that was helping me was being rushed by who I would guess is her manager. The manager was seen tapping her watch to tell my helper to hurry. The manager also kept walking by and staring at us in the corner, which made us very uncomfortable. I don't quite understand why she did that but it made my sister very upset. I went here to try on bridesmaids dresses a couple years ago and had an awful time so I don't know why I thought wedding dress shopping would be a better experience. I definitely won't be back if I can help it. I would rather have my bridesmaids get a dress from forever 21 to avoid the unprofessional behavior at David's Bridal. read more

Every time I have been in this store in the past few months has been a horrible experience. They over book so NY consultant was never there to help leaving us to fend for ourselves. They were horrible at getting the right size, brought one of my bridesmaids a dress that was five sizes too big because thats what she thought she needed. I made an appointment at this David's bridal for last weekend. My wedding is next fall and this was my first experience with trying on wedding dresses and it went great. Everyone was very polite and helpful to us. I didn't feel rushed or like I should already know what the process is. They asked if I was just starting to look for dresses and I was, so they were not pushy at all about choosing/ordering one (I was really dreading that stuff, and I didn't even need to worry about it). First of all, we were running late because we had to drive two hours away and so we called to let them know. They told us if we were more than 15 minutes late that we would have to reschedule even though we had an hour long appointment. We got there exactly 15 minutes late and no one said anything about it. We were introduced to our stylist who seemed like it was her first day. We ended up having to find our own dresses because our stylist was with other customers the whole time. When she was working with us, we basically had to tell her how to do her job. She wouldn't measure us and get our sizes unless we asked her to. Which turned the hour appointment into almost an hour and a half. She refused to look around the store to find sizes that we could try on and so we had to find our own, which wasn't that difficult. After we finally found our own dresses, she figured out that she should probably check to see if they would even come in in time for the wedding. Thankfully they would come in in time. Altogether it was a really stressful experience that didn't need to be stressful. If I could give this place a zero I would. read more

Despite my fears after reading other reviews, I had a pretty good shopping experience at this David's Bridal. Despite the fact that they were busy, the woman helping me was attentive. She quickly realized that although I brought in pictures of A-lines, that it wasn't really working for me and got me into a shape I preferred. Although this isn't the fault specifically of the David's Bridal in Clive, I later had problems. My dress needed to travel to its final destination and so the David's Bridal in Clive told me I could get it pressed in a David's Bridal location elsewhere. They didn't mention that if anyone altered the dress they would never touch it again. I even called the destination David's Bridal ahead of time explaining the whole situation and they said to bring it in. When we brought it in, they then refused to touch it. Another bridal shop saved us by taking it in and pressing it for us. The shopping experience was good, but customer service after sucked. read more

For the most part, I had a pretty good experience with this DB location. When I went dress shopping for my dress, as well as took my bridesmaids to shop for theirs, the attendants that helped us were AWESOME. They made it a great experience, and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. That being said, I feel there needs to be a streamline process when people order things from this shop. Four of my five BM's ordered their dresses the day we went shopping for them. I spoke with all of them and I know they left at least one piece of contact information so they would be contacted when their dresses came in. One was contacted and had her dress shipped to her for free, one had ordered her dress from the Cedar Rapids store, but regardless, her and I were both notified through email that her dress was in. I got a call one day requesting info for another of my BM's because they didn't have any info, and her dress was in. I notified my friend and she had it all squared away. I was waiting to be notified of my last two BM's coming in... never heard anything. I was getting worried because I know they only keep them for 60 days if they are not picked up. So, my MOH called only to discover the dresses had been in for almost 3 weeks. The last two BM's live out of town, so I went and picked them up myself. When I went in, I asked why I was never notified. They said I should have gotten an email (I didn't), and they asked if I checked my junk mail (I did, still no email). I asked why neither of my BM's were notified their dresses were in, and they said they didn't leave any info, and that a lot of people don't. I don't really feel that was honest as I know all of my BM's left at least an email OR a phone number, otherwise, how would they know their dresses come in??? I just felt like my BM's were being blamed for the fact no one was notified their dresses were in. They weren't overly rude, but you could tell they wanted to be defensive, and they definitely didn't apologize for not even notifying ME about the dresses. No one single, "we apologize, I don't know what went wrong," or anything like that. I know this seems moot and pointless, but I guess what I am trying to say is they need to streamline the process for orders. They should always take at least an email or phone number from each BM, as well as the bride, so they can be more efficient when notifying people of their orders coming in. I don't know. As a maid of honor, I wanted her to have the best experience but, when I heard that the dress she picked up after trying on did not fit her. The sales associate kept telling us that she double booked herself on and on and did not even once made sure she was measuring her right. If I never step foot in this location again, it will be too soon. I bought my dress through David's Bridal online, so I didn't even have to deal with them for the actual purchase. However, throughout the few visits I made for alterations, I was completely in shock at how bad their service was. The first time I went in, I stopped in to pick up a bra and slip for underneath the dress. A woman helped me into the bra, slip, and my dress, then left me to go help not one, but two different other groups of people before coming back to help me out of my dress. After this time, I left my dress there and went shopping for just a few hours before coming back for my alterations visit. They actually brought out the wrong dress because they never bothered to write my name down on my dress. Eventually, they found the right one, but wow. Lastly, when I went in to pick up my dress after alterations, I waited for twenty minutes before someone finally came out to tell me that the reason I had been waiting so long was because they didn't have my dress completed. They needed a few extra days. I had driven an hour to get my dress for the appointment that we had scheduled, and I just had to drive back home. Through all of this, service was just awful. They'd help me for a while, and then make me wait for five or ten minutes before coming back to help me more. The day I came BACK in to pick up my dress, for some reason, they helped me the entire time. I think they were finally trying to do some damage control, but it was too late. I will NEVER go back there for friends' weddings, and I will absolutely not recommend them to anyone. read more

Staff is rude. Once they find out the bride did not purchase her dress there they immediately dismiss whomever they were helping. Their attitude changes towards the customer and they become unhelpful. I went to try on bridesmaid dresses one afternoon, was told I couldn't because I didn't have an appointment. When I did go in with an appointment no one helped me. My friend and I pulled our own dresses from the racks, figured out my own sizing, and when I did go to order my dress the lady acted like I was bothering her. Where do I start. The first time I went into David's, I had a great experience. Rickell helped me and she was fantastic. I found my wedding dress, which I LOVE, in less than 4 hours. I went back several times after this and every single time I was in there I had TERRIBLE experiences. The staff here (besides Rickell) has NO customer service skills what-so-ever. The managers are unhelpful and very insensitive to the industry they're catering. I took a day off work to plan for wedding stuff, and my mother and I decided to go into David's to look for headpieces. They were holding onto my dress for my up-coming alterations appointment, and when I asked them to pull it so I could coordinate it with the headpieces, nobody could find my dress. They disappeared for 20 minutes, and when I finally found someone (of course she had moved on and was helping another customer by then) they asked me if I was sure I didn't take my dress home with me. They finally found it (a whole hour later) and when they did, I was told that the reason they couldn't find it, was because their alterations lady had "put it in her secret hiding place." A total waste of a day. Needless to say I took my dress home and canceled my alterations appointment with them. We had already ordered flower girl dresses for my daughter and my sister- when I went to pick them up they were completely wrinkled and DIRTY. The managers walked away from me without explaining how they were going to fix the problem or anything. I went back later that night to find that they had steamed the tops but the dresses were still dirty. Deb, the manager, informed me that she would personally handle the situation and make sure the dresses were clean by the next day. When I went back in, the dresses still had a few black spots on them. I asked if we could re-order them and make sure the new ones were clean. Deb informed me that, even if we reordered them, there is ALWAYS chance that the dresses will be dirty. She also told me that ANYWHERE you go, you always have the risk of having a dirty dress ordered. (completely false information). These dresses were brand new, there's no reason they should be dirty. When I asked if I could get refunded for the poor quality of the product, she informed me that all sales were final. I either had to settle for dirty dresses, PAY for drycleaning for them (even though they're brand new) or lose my $200 and go somewhere else. When I asked Deb if she would settle for these dirty dresses for her wedding, she said that she would. To me, this blows my mind. It's not just their poor customer service but irks me but their lack of accountability and integrity disgusts me. No bride, let alone ANY customer should be treated this way by any retail store. It's clear to me by the lack of competent staff and lack of regard for their customers that David's Bridal is anything but "the best" bridal store. I would STRONGLY reccommend that anyone and everyone AVOIDS stepping foot into this disgraceful store. They will only cause more stress into the already busy lives of a bride-to-be. read more

I have never been so disappointed in any company as much as I am with this one. In February when I brought my bridesmaids in to try on dresses we were treated as if we were the employee. I went back and forth getting dresses while our attendant sat in a chair doing nothing. When she did do something such as measure my girls she acted as though she had better things to do. She gave wrong information and was all around a terrible worker. That alone left a bad taste in my mouth. Then I came in to get a slip for under my wedding dress at the beginning of may. I asked the woman if she could tell me how many of my girls had ordered their dresses. She looked under my name and stated that it doesn't show any of my girls names or sizes or even the dress that we chose. I spoke with a manager and she was dismissive and quite frankly rude. I gave all of their sizes and the style of the dress that day. Two days later my maid of honor ordered her dress in the size she had on in the store and when she received it, it was two sizes smaller. She has not gained a pound since the initial appointment in February. I called and was given the excuse that the dresses are stretched from being tried on. No. This company has not once taken accountability for their mistake. She received a new dress and it as well is too small and the clasp is broken on it. Now my other maid of honor received her dress and guess what? Her clasp is broken as well. I have always heard such good things about this company and I can say with much certainty that I will never recommend them to anyone I know getting married. This is ridiculous and should be fixed on their dime but I am having to call around and get it fixed at my bridesmaids expense. They should cover the charges. To be completely honest, with all of the issues that we've had and continue to have they should be refunding the cost of each dress that we purchased and giving them to us at no charge. But alas, they won't even admit that they are at fault. Wedding planning is supposed to be fun but ever since the first day in that store it has been a nightmare. I will never forgive David's Bridal for making such a special occasion for me become a time where I am constantly worried about the next dress coming and seeing what's wrong with it. The only reason I am rating this with one star is because it will not allow me to post if I don't. If I were able to post with negative stars I most definitely would. read more

My mother agreed, saying she gets better service at her local Walgreens. I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment my mother and sister received today while looking for Mother of the Bride and Maid of Honor dresses for my wedding. When they walked in, the staff (4 women standing idly at the counter) was more focused on continually making sure they signed in than actually helping them find a dress. Beyond their incessant need to ensure the customers they weren't helping were signed in, my sister and mother were completely and utterly ignored. Shopping for bridal wear is a rare, often in once a lifetime, experience. So perhaps don't be rude when someone has entrusted you with trying to find such a special garment. Or just doing something as inoffensive as attempting to enter the dressing room. Furthermore, there are no mirrors in the dressing room. Which would be fine if you received some modicum of service once you exited, but no one even came to check on them when they left the dressing room or offered assistance regarding the outfits they tried on. They were completely unsupported. It was like they weren't even there. Bottom line: if you want to do any bridal shopping, stay clear of this place. Frankly, you're better off shopping at stores online (Nordstrom has brilliant customer service!), or going literally anywhere else, where you're guaranteed not to suffer service that isn't so ridiculously haughty. There's a reason this place is getting consistently low reviews. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Worst bridal shop! I was told they couldn't rush alterations despite the fact that they knew the wedding date, knew my need for alterations (ordered to dress too big as I'm pregnant) and then were shocked when the dress came in two weeks before the wedding. They said there was nothing they could do - didn't even have referrals for places that could help! I couldn't believe it. Luckily Dornick answered the phone and were courteous and polite, and most importantly had the resources to help. I would stay away! And it's not like it's cheap - I had to pay $150 for my dress! The first time i went into Davids bridal i had an appointment for my bridesmaids to do some dress finding. I was NOT impressed at all with our lady that helped my girls! 1. She was never around to help get dresses 2. we only had 1 dressing room for 4 girls and 3. She shouted out the dress sizes of which my girls were getting. Totally not professional! Although the girl that helped me was good; but there were things that she failed to inform me of. who knew you could preserve your dress, or that i should have defiantly bought a garment bag...how else was i going to carry it home? I'm mother of bride. Had appointment on 2/28/16. Assoicate Molly was quiet. She acted like it was a big chore to work with us. She was only there putting her hours in to get a paycheck. After trying on second dress we were ready to leave. Bride told her what she was wanting and what she didnt like. Molly brings out first dress of all the not wants. Plus she loved rolling her eyes. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL! After the last dress tried on she left. Guess we were done... As leaving over heard another group coming in, one girl saying why are we here I'v already had horrible experience in this place. We will buy our dress at small store in Oskaloosa, Ia. I went here as my first experience trying on wedding dresses. Because I'm on a very limited budget, I was hoping that this would be a great place to find my wedding dress. I was SO wrong. The appointment started off fine, talking about what I liked my budget (ABSOLUTELY no more than $500). The first dress she had me try on was gorgeous, I loved it instantly. I looked at the price tag, $1200. They were having a sale that weekend, so I asked if it was part of the sale, after 20 minutes of searching, no of course it wasn't. So I tried on more of the dresses she had pulled, none of them were less than $1000, and none of them were on sale. The worst part is the consultant spent the entire time complaining that she was going to be sooo busy because they had "too many people ruining [her] day." She also told me that I shouldn't be getting married after asking how long me and fiance had be together. That is not her place or okay for employees at a bridal store to be doing. This review isn't going to be your typical review. I was ready to write a bad review when I started reading all the other reviews. While reading these, I saw a response from the district manager CJ DeVerney. She had listed her cell phone #...so I called it. I voiced my concern of how unhappy I was with the service. She was SO nice and helpful and contacted Cara, one of the managers. I received a phone call immediately from Cara asking us to come in the store and addressed all of our issues! We were treated very well and felt very special. We even picked out a completely different dress...no questions asked! I guess what I am trying to say is, if you have an issue, please ask for a manager. We just kept complaining and never went to a manager. Once we did this, it was a whole different experience. They informed me they know there are some issues with this location, but they need to know what they are so they can address them. Give them a chance to fix it for you!! My experience at Davids Bridal is mixed. First impressions are hard to get past. When my daughter and I walked in we were met by 3 consultants who were not at all helpful and down right rude. They told me there was no one to help me and I'd need to find the dresses I needed myself and that there was no where for us to try them on at! I was really shocked to be treated that way. My daughter and I started looking through the dresses ourselves. A very nice consultant named Diane saw me and was so kind. She offered to help us, and gave us a dressing room. I needed a different size dress and she found it. When it was time to pay for our dresses Betsy helped me. It was 2:30 and she had not had lunch yet but stayed so sweet and helpful. I would give Diane and Betsy 10 stars if I could! They both treated my daughter and I with human kindness despite the circumstances of a busy day at work. Thank you Diane! Thank you Betsy! read more

I purchased my dress at David's Bridal in Clive, IA, in March of 2014. My wedding was supposed to be October of 2014, but ended up being pushed back until June of 2015. I went in to have my dress altered with David's Bridal and was told they were 8 weeks out in alterations, and therefore, couldn't get my dress altered in time for my wedding. They gave me a referral to a local tailor, which I ended up using. He did a wonderful job, but also cost me $344 dollars for hemming the dress and putting a padded bra in my dress. I was told at the time they gave me the referral that I could bring my dress back to the store and they would press it for me. After picking the dress up from the tailor, I went back to the Clive store, and was told by the manager that they would not press my dress since I didn't have it altered at their store. The dress needs pressed, and there is a slight mark on the back of the dress, and was hoping they could get that out, so not sure what I'm going to do at this point. My wedding is in 2 weeks, and afraid if I sent the dress to a regular cleaners, it won't be ready in time for my wedding. The manager at David's Bridal in Clive needs to take a course in Customer Service. Not very friendly and I thought she was rather rude to me. Maybe she doesn't like her job....if that's the case, she should look for a new one. read more

NO star rating here...we were in the store today with an appointment at 1:30...it must be OK for the consultants to be a 1/2 hour late??? My daughter tried on 10 dresses in 1 hour really my daughter was treated with disrespect. The consultant was working with 3 brides to be...at the same time she had shared that they were short on help. That's fine it happens then that is why the managers should step up and take on clients and/or assist the consultants...this ONLY happened after I (mother of the bride) told the consultant that NO she can not see the pictures of dresses from the bridal store. she wanted my daughter to rate the dresses between stores...this is when Mama opened her mouth and told the consultant that we ARE NOT talking about the other bridal store dresses nor will we compare them seriously this event should be memorable and fun for a Bride. We have 3 daughters and opportunities for future purchases down the road... David's Bridal in Clive needs to step up their customer service train their consultants on how to make the bride's day as special as they possibly can. This might work for some brides...my husband stated when we retuned home...THEY don't treat my daughter like that...he is very angry and if I (Mama) had not said something the consultant would have continued to push on rating dresses and comparing dresses....my daughter does not like to stop a conversation that is uncomfortable for her she would just be uncomfortable and answer the questions ....THIS store is so WRONG to make brides feel uncomfortable. The Bride next to us apparently worked or was associated with the store and she had lots of attention . She was able to pull dresses along with her family members but, when one of my daughters pulled a few dresses she was told to stop... Seriously are you kidding me...If my daughter selects the dress she likes at David's Bridal I have no intention of purchasing her dress from David's in Clive. I will purchase this dress from another bridal store and/or what I can to obtain the dress online or from another location... Reading other reviews it makes me sad to think this I'd acceptable customer service. I would pay double at another location for the same dress just to not purchase a dress at David's so sad as this is not the experience we wanted for our daughter they made my daughter feel very uncomfortable then I say something which added to her being more uncomfortable...It's not about the money for our family it's about making memories for our daughter and giving her the most awesome experience for her big day!!! I highly suggest a smaller boutique with awesome customer service!!! And for those brides that have a tighter budget I trust that David's will step up their game and give EVERY Bride the best experience they could possibly have!!! if i could rate this with NO stars, i would. let's begin, in hopes that i can inform others to never shop here while planning a wedding, unless they absolutely have to. my davids bridal experience began by searching for my wedding dress. The experience was okay although I could have gone without the snooty comments made whenever I voiced my opinion about what kind of dress I wanted. None the less, I found the dress i was able to afford and really loved, without too much of a problem. okay good. THEN came bridesmaids dresses. I wasn't able to afford buying my bridesmaids their dresses so I was allowing them to pick out their own dresses as long as they were in the shade I had picked, which was an ombre shade across the 5 girls. The first two girl picked out their two different dresses, fine no problem, one girl however had to have hers ordered while the other bought it off the "rack" that day. Okay, so far so good. Next came getting the dress for my soon to be sister in law, in Wichita, KS. We went together to their local DB and found another dress, we made sure to have it different than the first 2 (Their assistant was helpful by looking under my name to see which 2 dresses had been ordered in Clive, to ensure my S-I-L didn't order the same dress). Next came going BACK to the Clive DB to order a dress for my 4th bridesmaid. Keep in mind at this point we still have different dresses ordered. Again we asked an assistant to let us know which dresses had been ordered to ensure we don't repeat dresses- the lady claimed she could NOT see this information in her system or that she didn't have it. FUNNY considering the DB in a different state could see what had been ordered in IOWA. Finally she comes back to us and says "oh that dress looked great on you" to my friend, ALSO FUNNY considering she had disappeared for 15 minutes without being of ANY assistance to us whatsoever. Then she mentions after I say again "we just want to make sure we're not ordering the same dress" and she says"Oh no this dress hasn't been ordered by any of the other girls". As if she had magically discovered what we wanted. I really felt she was trying to hurry us out of there and was just telling us what we wanted to hear. A week or so later, my S-I-L sends me a picture of the dress she received for pick up, and I had noticed it was DIFFERENT than the one she ordered (i knew this because we took a picture of her in the dress while trying it on). I show the new picture to my 4th bridesmaid and she says "That's the dress I ordered". So then I have my 2nd bridesmaid show me her dress, and what do you know 3 of the girls ended up with the same dress on the account of Wichita DB sending the WRONG dress AND CLIVE DB telling us the WRONG information. So, clearly the easiest option for a worried bride would be to have the 1st bridesmaid return her dress (this was the girl who bought hers off the rack), and simply get the dress that the other 3 girls now had. My friend called in to complain and she was told we would be given the other dress if we returned the one bought, without being charged the difference. Of course we get into the store and the manager - i'm not sure of her name, she has short dirty blonde hair i believe- but the manager then tries to charge us. My friend spoke up and said something about it, and with a snooty face the manager says "i'll see what i can do." She ended up not charging us for the difference (AS SHE SHOULD) and then proceeds to tell us "Make sure you go onto Yelp and write a review about the wonderful deed we did for you". HA!!! Next comes my sisters dress- who is the maid of honor. She got her dress ordered and was advised 6 weeks for pick up. When that time came however, they told her it was not done and that we should have been advised 6-21 weeks instead! finally she was able to get in for alterations and everything. they then tell her it will be done literally 4 days before my wedding. FOUR DAYS! so 4 days before the wedding she calls to confirm its ready for pick up and they told her they never had her information in their system!! and that the lady who was going to altered it was going to come in the following morning to work on it! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! at this point, i'm laughing at how screwed up of a business this is as I'm remembering everything that went absolutely wrong while dealing with Davids Bridal. Lastly, and just one more reason I would not advise to come here, ever. We had called to ask about a specific pair of shoes that were advertised online- we called to confirm they had those specific shoes in stock in the store and we were told YES. Imagine my little surprise when we went to the store then the next day and were told "I'm not sure why someone told you we had those shoes, we definitely don't carry them." so to the lady who wanted me to write a review for yelp- HERE YOU GO ;) read more
