I've been to a couple david's bridal shops for various weddings i've been in. Last Saturday I went with my to-be step-mother. She was getting her dress fitted as well as my own. The assistant was uneducated about alteration options for the bride, rude, and obnoxious. She pocked my step-mom and responded with "well you aren't bleeding". I live in Chicago and rarely back home but was told that scheduling a pickup on a Saturday was an inconvenience. I'm sorry, I bought this dress and it's not like I'm an hour away. I had a minor alteration on my dress made and asked if my step-mom could just picked it up for me and I was told no. After this wedding, I don't think I would ever purchase or recommend this location. read more

I was a resistant wedding dress shopper. I didn't want to dress shop! After visiting two higher end small dress shops, I found myself walking into a David's Bridal over four hours away from my home. The team was so helpful and so welcoming, I found myself saying "Yes to the dress!!" (I honestly didn't even know what that meant until I met the David's Bridal team in Davenport!) I had no reason to be nervous however, as I had an excellent experience at David's Bridal with my stylist Olivia. I brought a large group with me and Olivia was very accommodating to everyone. I had certain styles I knew I wanted to try on that I had found online and Olivia was able to get them for me with no issues. Olivia was not pushy, but very supportive throughout the process. I found my dress on the first day I looked and I am so happy to get it when it comes in! I would definitely do business here again in the future. read more

Not so hot...If you are a bride to be, and want the full experience, you should probably look elsewhere. My initial experience with this store left a lot to be desired. The employee that assisted me barely did that. I came with a picture of what I had in mind, and she informed me that they 'don't carry that dress' before promptly dismissing me and walking off. Having never shopped in a David's Bridal before, I was unfamiliar with the layout, or the way the store worked. I tracked her down again and explained that it was the style of dress I likes and asked if they had anything like it. She tossed a 'nope' over her shoulder and walked on. Fortunately I brought my best friend and fashion guru with me so I didn't require much assistance beyond locating a dressing room. Once she noticed I was trying on she became more helpful stopping by to ask how things were going. I inquired about finding dresses that I liked in different sizes or colors and she said what they had on hand was it, and there was no way to get any other colors/sizes/styles. I persisted and asked about calling other stores, she was less than helpful. I finally gave up and left. I asked them to hold a dress that I was considering, and found that there was a stringent policy in place for holding dresses and that unless I was engaged to be married, and had a spot reserved that it couldn't be done. After some persuasion and more persistence they agreed to make an exception. Who knew it could be this hard to purchase a dress from a eel known establishment? When I finally went back to take a second look at the dress, I found it to be oil stained and having several runs in the fabric. They explained that it was 'no big deal' and that it could 'most likely' be laundered out by their staff on hand. I declined. I want to start off by saying that I am not one to complain and it has taken me over a day to put my experience into words without tearing up. Yesterday I went to to the Davenport, IA location with hopes of finding my dream dress. when my bridal party and I arrived I was very hopeful. boy was I ever wrong. I was given colored clips to go through and tag what styles I liked so they could pull dresses to best match what I had picked. When the consultant, Emma, asked me if I knew my dress size, I smiled and said "yes ma'am I am a size 26 or 28" Emma took me over to the clearance section to 5 very dingy rough looking dresses and stated " because of your size this is what you have to choose from" when she walked away I started to cry. I took a few moments to collect myself and try to make the best of what I had to work with. After about 30 minutes Emma came back over and pulled all the dresses my bridal party and I picked. Emma then showed my to my dressing room and then walked away. Emma was hardly around, She had pulled dresses 5 sizes too small and expected me to attempt to put them on. Thank goodness for my bridal party and my mother for taking over as well as helping me in and out of dresses. The last time I visited a David's bridal the consultant assisted me from beginning to end, Asked me how my fiancé and I met asked about my likes and dislikes. this time it clearly wasn't the case. I had hoped that dress shopping at the location I would have the time of my life. But quickly turned into hell because of my size. So if you're a beautiful plus sized bride I would go elsewhere. read more

Extremely rude! I had heard bad things about this store, but had to go here to get a bridesmaids dress for a friend's wedding. First of all they ordered the wrong size dress, when I told them about their mistake they argued with me and refused to make it right. Also, an older woman (not sure if it's the manager or what) was eves dropping on a conversation with my friend and making rude comments to us. Wow! I will never do business with this place again and will encourage anyone I know who is getting married not to go here. There are a ton of awesome bridal boutiques in the area. My mom and I stopped by here yesterday in search of some formal dresses for an event we have in December. There was a good selection and my mom was able to find a beautiful dress that she liked but was still not ready to commit to. Because of this she asked the workers at the front, who were all just "hanging out" talking, if they could hold it for her until today. It slipped her mind that today was thanksgiving... And the clerk who responded (and who's name I did not catch but had half blonde half brown short hair) was obviously annoyed with this fact and with my mom's Brazilian accent. She responded by letting my mom know that it was Thanksgiving the next day so they were closed with no smile or suggestion as to what else they could do. My mom then asked her if they could hold the dress until Friday and she said "I guess" with a sigh. You guess? Well then... "I guess" we'll never return to your store! Don't act like there are better things you could be doing... There was literally no other customers in the store! You are paid to be here and we are paying for your service, act like it! read more

When you purchase your wedding dress it should be treated as a big deal. As for my experience. I made an appointment, went in for my first shopping experience for my dress and needless to say it was everything but special. I felt like I was putting my consultant out by asking her to do her job. She seemed irritated that I knew pretty much the style I was looking for because she offered zero suggestions. You are spending hundreds of dollars on your dress and you want to feel special in making your purchase. I went back a second time and it was even a worse experience. I ended up buying my dress elsewhere because of the lack of care of if they made the sale Or not. My bridesmaids bought their dresses there and again, it was not a fun experience. We basically walked In, picked out the dresses, went to the fitting room on our own and was never asked if we needed help. Would never recommend David's to anyone. Let me start off by saying I do not ever write reviews but I am at my wits end with this now. I had my first dress fitting on July 11th. I was supposed to have ordered a size 16 but upon further inspection I was given a size 14 which fit but since the dress had sleeves it was a little snug. They told me they would have to reorder the dress in the correct size before we could do anything. 4 weeks later I had my next dress fitting which then they said that my dress was too big and we would just be using the 14 and they would open up the arms (I have some knowledge of sewing and know this is not an easy task) but no measurements were taken of my arms or anything. I set up my next appointment for today, August 31st and hoped for the best. I arrived 10 minutes early to my appointment scheduled for 4 and checked in. I wasnt seen until 4:30 because no one told alterations that I was there. Once I put my dress on I noticed numerous issues: there were strings hanging from where a hook and eye fell off above the zipper, there was a rip in the lace in one of my sleeves, and above everything my sleeves still dont fit. After I told alterations my concerns and asked them what all was done to the dress a woman I am assuming was the head of alterations yelling from the back room "I cant make the sleeves bigger" and the other woman in alterations reassured me my dress would be fine. So here I am 2 weeks before my wedding and unsure if I will have a dress to wear or not. I've been patient with you but I honestly have no hope in my dress getting fixed by the time I come back. read more

So I traveled to davenport, Iowa from Nashville TN and went to the davids bridal to have my maid of honor try on her dress. The girl that was helping us, Lindsey, was rude when I was asking her questions in regards to me trying on a possible reception dress. Her attitude was so poor that I opted to just wait until I get back to TN to go try on a dress for my reception. This was supposed to be a run and joyful experience and Lindsey's attitude made the experience just the opposite. read more

I went to here to pick out my dress. The help and attention we got was great. I found my dress and had it shipped back to Indiana(where I'm from). The dress came, but was a little to snug. My wedding being 7 months away, I wanted something a little bigger just in case I got fatter lol. I called the Davenport store and was told the davids bridal in Indiana could exchange it for a bigger size. So I called the Indiana store. Nope, they won't exchange it. I have to take my dress 5 hours back to the Davenport store to exchange it because it'll "mess up Indianas inventory". ITS ALL ONE COMPANY!!!! Why or how would it mess up inventory?!?! Called the Davenport store back and even they thought it was a strange thing to say. But there was nothing they can do. Needless to say, I will HAVE to take the dress back to Davenport. But they will not be getting anymore of my business, alterations and anything else will be somewhere else, with a company that stands behind their word. Very upset. read more

Not too pleased. I have one daughter getting married this year & we have had nothing but trouble with David's bridal. She bought her dress & we later found out she needed to have sleeves. All of their material is proprietary and so they wanted us to buy a second dress to get material. Then i found a dress, took it home looked it over and over half of the beading is gone due to it being shoved onto a rack. I went to bring it back and there are No RETURNS! What!!!!! I had a great experience. Everyone that I worked with was so helpful and nice. When I tried on dresses the person that helped me got me into about 15 dresses in my hour and a half appointment time. I am from the QCA area but now live in NJ. I decided to get my dress back in the QCA for ease of having to travel with it and I had a great experience. I went to David's in Davenport with 5 of my Bridesmaids, my Mother, Mother of the Groom, and my Personal Attendant and they let us pull as many dresses as we liked, we kind of took over the store!! They were quick in helping me find a dress, but by no means rushed me. They were very helpful and even accessorized me once I found the dress so I could get the full picture! My Bridesmaids also were all able to try to on dresses and agreed on one. We ALL ended up buying dresses that day and they were super friendly and made it a wonderful experience. read more

I am very disappointed with the service we got at Davids bridal on 5/23/2015. I made an appointment in advance for my four bridesmaids to try on dresses. Our attendant Danielle barely stayed with our party. If we had a question we would have to track her down or ask another attendant because she was also helping several other people. Call me old fashioned but if a store makes you make an appointment and you show up for an appointment shouldn't the person you had the appointment with stay with your group? Several of my bridesmaid questions went unanswered because she wasn't around to ask. I understand it was a Saturday but one would think a large party would have at least one person devoted to it. read more

Not overly impressed... I walked in assuming I could pick out a dress and try it on. I had done some online shopping so I had a good idea what I was looking for. I was greeted by a rude "oh you don't have an appointment" and "we can probably fit you in." The girl that helped me made me feel like a burden even though I had already had the only two dresses that I tried on in my arms before she even introduced herself. She sighed when I didn't want the dressing room she tried to put me in- it was on a stage and in between 2 large parties, not what I was looking for and seemed like a lot of commotion for just me and my future mother in law. The dress I wanted had a stain and one of the snaps falling off. They cleaned it up and fixed it but again made me feel like a burden. At the checkout, the lady handed me my receipt and boldly said, "all sales are final!" As if that is not something you may want to hear before you purchase a dress that is several hundred dollars... I do love the dress, but i feel it was a little expensive for the quality. read more

Horrible experience with David's Bridal, specifically this Davenport location. Purchased a bridesmaid dress from them and they sized me incorrectly, so when I came in to pick it up I had to re-order a smaller size. Then I had to have the straps taken in a little. When I went to try it on, they sized me totally wrong and I could barely get the dress on, let alone move and breathe in it. My next experience, I brought some Steve Madden heals to wear while trying wedding dresses for my upcoming wedding. I accidently left them at the store. They called me to let me know and I said I would pick them up at my next appointment. When I came in and asked for my shoes, no one knew where they were. They then said they would keep looking and call me the next day. Never got a call. Called them and found out they threw them away, without ever notifying me! Apparently they have a one-month lost and found policiy and failed to mention that to me. By the way, I asked for them back with-in a month, so that policiy isn't valid. The mangers I worked with, Melissa and Emily were completely unprofessional, not helpful or friendly. The store seems to be completely un organized and not a friendly experience. I will not be purchasing my bridesmaid or wedding dress from them and caution anyone else who is thinking about it! read more

We just had the most horrible customer service experience ever, at David's Bridal on Elmore Ave. in Davenport. My daughter had an appointment today for what we thought was to be the final fitting for her wedding gown. She had called a few weeks ago to confirm with the store that she wanted the gown ordered in the size which she tried on in the store, with a longer length. When we got to the store, they brought out a dress 2 sizes too small and then proceeded to tell her that she had called and told the clerk on the phone that she wanted that much smaller size. When my daughter informed her that she most definitely did not order a different size, but had called to order the longer length, the clerk repeated that she had ordered the smaller size. I suggested to the "lady" that she may want to rephrase her remark to indicate that they had incorrectly ordered the wrong size. Then we were told that they would "pull her file" to prove something. The only thing they could have proven is that they wrote down the wrong information because the conversation they recorded on their "file" didn't happen. These clerks were so beyond rude. With my daughter standing there crying, the lady who was doing the fitting came in with a dress in a larger size for her to try. To shorten the story, after being left in the room for several minutes while they tried to order the correct dress and have it delivered in time for her wedding which is now 6 weeks away, we had had enough and my daughter went to the front of the store to inform the clerk at the desk that she would not be purchasing a dress and asked for her money back. Now, Emily at the desk embellished her lie by telling us that she had personally spoken with my daughter on the phone and tried to talk her out of ordering the smaller dress. What??? Unbelievably bad customer service, with the manager of the store standing by and allowing her employee to call a customer a liar while spinning a tale of her own. In fact, the only time the manager, Julie Tompas, spoke up was when I lost my temper and dared to use an "inappropriate word" to her employee. This was apparently the manager's takeaway from the whole experience. It amazes me that anyone would ever want to shop at this store with these rude employees and incompetent and rude manager. read more
