July 7th, 2022 Currently writing this review while standing in line for an hour and a half past my appointment time just to try on a dress I had fitted (for a wedding that's this weekend). I get that some places are short staffed, but they probably shouldn't book appointments things if they're not gonna be available to help at said appointment time. Not to mention, they didn't offer a partial refund at least for the poor service. Giving this 2 stars though cause they had 18 waters to hold us over for the wait time. read more

We usually don't write reviews but our experience was so discouraging that we felt it only fair to let others know. Though the staff at David's Bridal were helpful and friendly when selecting a dress, once the dress arrived and had issues, we were very frustrated with their response and how they dismissed our concerns. We were not treated like valued customers. Also, as others have mentioned in Yelp reviews, the dress that arrived was smaller than the one of the same size that fit in the store. They said the store dress was stretched due to others trying it on. They should have mentioned that the new dress will be smaller. We had to return several times to try to get a good dress with no issues. Eventually we gave up and left with a dress we were unhappy with. read more

I don't like leaving super negative reviews, but I genuinely wish I could give this place zero stars. Don't go here. The person at the front desk was so rude that our group almost turned around and left, and we weren't walk-ins -- we had an appointment. The shop was completely empty, and the staff acted like we were inconveniencing them by showing up for our appointment. Total bummer for my bride-to-be friend to be treated that way, and on top of the apathetic and unfriendly staff, the dresses are mostly an unfortunate combination of expensive but cheap-looking. Packed and not expecting us, David's Bridal was happy to assist my friend who was looking for a bridesmaid dress. She was able to find what she was looking for, but because the dress wasn't able to come in time, she was able to get another dress altered to look exactly like the one she liked. I recommend going to this bridal shop. We had gone to another one in the area and it's was very subpar. This place is great and they understand that anyone walking in could be a potential customer. Hi, I recently came to get my wedding dress. I understand you are under staffed right now. But when I came to get my dress after alterations.. no one called me this morning to tell me it wasn't ready yet. The girl that was helping me with my dress did a really good job . But I feel it was rushed and I had to wait 3 1/2 hours to get my dress. And after that there was still an issue that I had to wait another 20min to get fixed. When I got home I saw that the belt was not sewed on and falling off. Since I already paid for my alterations and it cost me $600 . I would like some money back please otherwise I will not be returning and I will be forced to write a bad Yelp review. I was not happy and I believe I acted amicably at the time. This place is terrible. We went in 3 weeks ago for an appointment to alter my fiancée's dress and just changing one minor thing was $380. This itself isn't that big of a deal although way to pricey. They had to reschedule our appointment 3 weeks later because they still hadn't finished. We came back today and they had messed up the dress to the point that now we have to come back AGAIN in two weeks to pick it up again. We live 3 hours away so this is a huge inconvenience and I will never come back here again. Update: We got the dress in the mail because we called and asked them to ship it so we didn't have to drive 6 hours for their multiple mistakes. First, we had to pay for shipping, second. They sent it to the wrong place after asking twice to confirm the correct address. Luckily it was near where we got married or we wouldn't have had a a wedding dress for the wedding. read more

Nightmare situation. I had an awful experience at the David's Bridal in Burlington. I rarely complain about stuff, but this was so, so bad. I bought a dress that I loved there a few weeks ago, but as I was paying for it, I noticed that it was damaged and had multiple holes in the fabric. I asked them to order a new one that wasn't defective. They were nice and ordered it right away, but when I went in to get it a few days later, I noticed that the new one was WAY too small. It barely zipped! The manager's explanation was that the damaged dress I had previously tried on must have fit so well because it had been stretched from having gotten tried on so many times. No one had though to mention that before. And no one had thought to take that into consideration before ordering me a new one. The manager's response to the situation was the worst thing. She offered to order the dress that was multiple sizes larger, and then have me PAY for them to shrink it down to the right size. Really, their solution is to have me pay to shrink down an expensive dress that fit perfectly when I tried it on a few weeks ago? What a nightmare. read more

First time going to a David's bridal since my sister went for her confirmation dress 5+years ago. This location in south Burlington definitely lives up to the crappy reviews. It isn't posted anywhere about needing an appointment, so I walked in 2 hours before they closed. I was told that I could look but needed to make an appointment to try on, which is absurd. There was no one else in there. The people weren't very friendly. For a first experience, this was very off putting. I will not be buying a dress from this company, and I will not be telling my friends to either. I'd rather pay more for better service at a local boutique! read more

When I came in a third time to buy the dress she made an inappropriate comment and wasn't even the person helping me. Overall the staff seemed miserable to be there. I'm so glad this other person's review popped up - had a horrifying experience there myself after going in to look for bridesmaid's gowns. I'll keep it short and sweet as I was admittedly not an ideal shopper - short on time, looking to do a quick eyeball and try-on, and hate shopping in general. But - I tried on a strapless long, heavy dress that I had zero problems zipping up whatsoever. (If it had been too tight, I'd have taken off my yoga tank top underneath.) But. When It tried to unzip it, the dress's zipper was stuck. A worker tried to help me unzip it, but had no luck. She got her boss - the store manager I took it - who was like, snarling at me that I shouldn't put on dress that are two small. In what seemed like WAY too sudden of a move she grabbed a scissors and cut me out of the dress. She was berating the other worker as she did this, and telling me they don't usually have to do this because people don't put on dresses that were too small. She was angry, probably because she knew damn well I wasn't buying the dress, but she was also belittling me and her employee in a very public way. Horrible experience, I left terribly embarrassed, and am never, I swear, NEVER going to return. read more

I really want to give this place at least three starts but I just can't. Two stars is all that this place deserves as their staff is rather unapproachable and leave you wanting to hightail it on out of there... I was out with a friend shopping around for her wedding dress this past weekend. We checked every store around the Burlington area that could have formal dresses before resorting to this place. Upon walking in, we were blatantly ignored- it was almost like it was on purpose even though there was someone right at the front desk. After looking around for a bit, one of the staff did come by and ask if we needed help to which we of course replied no. So we decided to pick out some dresses on our own and bring them to the fitting room. Apparently to be let into a fitting room you need to have an appointment set up which was really annoying and not announced anywhere. Also, while they were debating what to do, I was left holding about 8 wedding dresses by the fitting room until they figured out what they wanted to do...great. Eventually they let us into a fitting room- there were only 3 three other brides there so the place wasn't even busy! But, still, the employee who was assigned to help us kept disappearing and not really working with us... After the brides gown was chosen I had to find a maid of honor dress for myself. We picked out a few and I tried them on.We settled on one and then it was time to pay. At this time (of course) with a wedding dress and two bridal party gowns in hand, all the employees were surprisingly willing to help-welcome to the world of commission; no one wants to help but as soon as it's time to check out, then they're all eager to help. Grrr! Once it was time to pay for my dress, they told me that I could get the one that I had tried on. When I mentioned that I was not comfortable with that as these dresses get tried on on the regular, one of the employees snootily remarked that even if they ordered one it could come from another DB store rather than the warehouse. So, of course, I asked if they can make note in the system that the dress come from the warehouse. The answer; NO. Okay- so I pointed out a severe rip and some puckering in the mesh and told them I was not interesting in purchasing a damaged dress. At this point, the two employees conceded and ordered a dress to be delivered. It really didn't seem that difficult so it was really frustrating that they just didn't do this in the first place. Over all, I feel that this place sees itself as way more important and socialite than it is. There was no sense of comfort or welcome. I would rather drive hours to some place else than put up with the poor customer service in this place. read more

For my first time trying on dresses (and after watching waaaay too many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress), this was bit of a shocking experience. I would rate this place 2 stars, but the woman who helped me, Linda, was very nice. But why such a low rating from me? Here's why: - their check-in desk for appointments is right at the front of the store, awkwardly positioned so that you feel like you're practically on top of the person in front of you; - don't get it twisted, they're not going to be helping you put on that crazy looking thing called a bridal gown; - if you don't like random strangers touching your hair and sticking veils, or other contraptions, on your head, it's going to happen here; and - if you're expecting some privacy when trying on "the" dress, you're not going to have it here. At any one point while I was there, there were at least 3 other brides vying for the same mirror space. Add in their moms and bridal party and its pretty claustrophobic. Oh, and I forgot; if you find "your" dress, the store's staff will surround you and hand you a bell to ring. You're supposed to ring it and make a wish. Sadly, I really felt it similar to having "happy birthday" sung to you by waiters at a chain restaurant; not something that I am particularly inclined towards. But, I'll put all this in context for you. We came on a Saturday in the late afternoon. My appointment went on for about an hour and a half. As I said before, Linda was very nice and picked out some very pretty dresses for me; even ones I wasn't sure that I'd like that proved to be pretty. She wasn't pushy, listened to my opinion, and was able to find dresses that came close to what I wanted. I would definitely suggest asking for her if you're planning to go and try on some bridal gowns. Another suggestion? Though this may not be easy for your bridal party, pick a day during the week or a weekend morning. The store is likely to be less busy during those times. read more

Brides on a budget seem to have extremely limited options in Burlington, so it's understandable that David's Bridal is usually packed on weekends. I made a weekend appointment online beforehand because I'd heard that they will pull dresses from your online "favorites" for you to try on. I called ahead of my time to confirm and was told that there was no record of my appointment and that they were so busy I shouldn't bother coming in without an appointment. Huh? The confirmation is in my email...? I made another appointment for the following Monday, thinking it would be less crazy. When I arrived for my appointment, they again had no record of it, but the store was empty, so they assigned me a consultant. The consultant told me to pick out dresses I liked and hang them on the rack to try on. She put a sticky note on one of the dressing rooms & that's pretty much the last I saw of her. The racks are overstuffed with dresses in plastic bags. It's really hard to see what you're looking at & there is no clear method to their organization. I picked out & tried on several dresses, could see through most of them, and left underwhelmed. Not sure why I needed an appointment in the first place...there was no service to speak of. read more

David's Bridal in general was sooooo difficult and problematic to work with (I am referring to another store where I got measured and my dealings with their corporate customer service). But THIS location and THIS manager (Olivia) were so wonderful! They took a loss just to rectify a difficult situation that another store put me in. They bent over backwards to accommodate me, make sure things were done on time. I had to have a TON of alterations and they were completed by a clearly very experienced and talented seamstress. Although I did not love my general David's Bridal experience, I must thank this local store for their customer service. I have not written a company review in years, but I had to for this location. It all seemed fine in the beginning. Now that the gown and bridesmaids dresses have been purchased, it's a different story. They do not communicate with you. Tell you something one day and then it's "oh no no we can't actually do that" the next. They have made the bride cry twice because they stressed her out so much. Please heed our warning. Go elsewhere!! What should be a happy and fun time has turned into stress and tears. The so called "managers" here have been beyond useless. They could use some serious client relations training. If we had time enough before the wedding to start over and go elsewhere, we would. Davids Bridal is just awful!! Update: it's only gotten worse. Two alterations later and the bride left in tears today with her dress that has been hacked. She's taking it elsewhere to hopefully be fixed. I drove by this store after work one day and decided to stop in. I was on a business trip and had the evening free, so I figured I'd take a look at David's, since it was across the street. My favorite part of the experience was Nicole. She was helpful, fun to work with, and had a great eye. I don't usually like anything with sparkle, beads, or sequin, but she showed me dresses that I actually liked despite the glitter. Her attitude was great the whole time, and I would recommend asking for her if you ever happen to stop by this store. From my understanding, wedding dress shopping can be very stressful, but I felt totally at ease and comfortable with Nicole. The dress quality here is just so so - nothing like Galia Lahav or Inbal Dror, which is what I think I'll end up going with, but for the prices, it's perfectly acceptable. read more

She was focused on making sure I was getting what I wanted out of the experience and I felt listened to throughout. And, dresses were very reasonably priced. My daughter had a terrible experience at this store. She found a beautiful dress that fit her perfectly, and everyone was really helpful throughout the shopping experience. But when she went to pay for the dress, she noticed that the fabric in the back was torn in various places. She paid for the dress anyway, and just asked them to order a new one from the warehouse. They were helpful and ordered a new one right away. Unfortunately, once the dress arrived a few days later, it didn't fit. The tag had the right size on it, but I don't see how that's possible because the first one fit perfectly, and the new one was too tight to even walk in! Here's where things really fell apart. The manager reacted to the situation by saying that the dress my daughter originally tried on and fell in love with probably fit her because it had been stretched by other women who had tried it on. Seems odd given that it was a corset-style dress that shouldn't stretch very much. And even if this type of dress DOES stretch, shouldn't someone have mentioned that when she originally bought the dress? Shouldn't they have mentioned it when they put the order in for the new dress? Things get worse from here. The manager made a few phone calls and came up with a solution: they could order a dress that was 2 sizes bigger (because that happened to be the only one they had in the warehouse), and then have my daughter pay to have that large dress altered to fit her. What a disaster. This is a large company with multiple stores, and you're telling me that they don't have access to that dress in the same size or just 1 size larger? And why should we have to pay for the alterations? The dress she originally tried on and bought actually fit perfectly. How is it fair that we would have to pay to alter the new dress? This was a terrible experience. My daughter ended up cancelling the order and walking away. It's only a few weeks until the wedding; David's Bridal really let us down. read more

I just had one of the worst experiences at David's Bridal in South Burlington VT. I had called and scheduled an appointment to have my bridesmaid dress altered today at 2:00. I live about an hour and a half away so while I was driving up I received a phone call that my appointment had been double booked and she asked if I could come in at 330 instead. I told her that we were already on our way and my distance from the store. I told her I would try and arrive around 130 and she said that was fine. I arrived at the store around 140 and waited for someone to help for about 15 min. I then was told that the a bride had shown up for her 2:00 appointment and there wouldn't be anyone available until 330. This was unacceptable and I told her we had already driven an hour and a half for my appointment. I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was the manager. She was not accommodating and unwilling to make my experience there any better. I felt that I was being pushed aside because a bride was the other appointment. I will be calling the corporate number in Monday and voicing my frustration. I myself work in costumer service and would never treat anyone the way I was treated today. I would not recommend David's Bridal to anyone. 5/5/19- a very nice manger Melissa reached out to me and was very apologetic. In the beginning of our conversation I felt she really understood where I was coming from and listened to my many complaints. At the end of our conversation she asked if there was anything she could do to make the situation better. I told her my request and she said she would speak with her regional manager and get back to me the following day ... I have not heard back since. This only justifies my opinion of David's bridal. This company needs to be out of business. Anyone who shops here is a fool. Thank god I found a local seamstress that is professional and very accommodating. I wish I could give David's bridal a negative 5 star. I have never been this upset with a company in my life. OMG... don't.... just don't. We started the day at Fiori which is - in a word - magical. Gorgeous dresses, wonderful service, fantastic staff.... why would you go elsewhere? But no. My sister (aka "the bride to be") wanted us to go to David's Bridal to see what they had and check out their bridesmaids dresses. The whole experience was akin to eating a McD's patty slathered in ketchup when you could have had the Kobe beef. Loud, crowded, and don't expect any personalized service! Luckily, the bride decided to nix the idea of trying on dresses and instead tortured us. Think cattle coral. The changing room area is beyond chaotic. I tried on a few options but ended up ordering one from only available online. I figure if it doesn't fit, I can return it for another size. Greeted promptly yes, but accusatory when I said I had made an appointment online with no confirmation. They acted like I did something wrong. Getting off on the wrong foot right from the get go. Not one other associate who was on the floor, greeted me, said boo to me or asked what I was looking for, not one inquiry about my wedding, nada, zip, zero. Every time I walk into this location, I am met with warm welcome and staff ready to dive into the racks. I don't know why they have gotten such negative reviews! There's a decent selection of styles, colors, and sizes. The price point is very affordable, with quality to match. You could spend 2, 3, 4 times as much on gowns elsewhere with (maybe) only slightly better quality. The ladies at this location are helpful but won't give you the hard sell. Came here to help my sister get a prom dress, but I'll be back to select my bridesmaids dresses. Always a good deal right around the corner! read more

I wish I could give the Burlington store five stars. I give it a mostly positive review because I had a mostly positive experience. When I picked my dress I had a great time, I was able to try on lots of different styles, the store was busy, but it never took me very long to find the woman assisting me when I needed her. My dress came in quickly (they had estimated February it came in two weeks after i ordered it which was in October! yay!). Now the not so great, i was tempted to take off two stars for this, but the assistance I got after the fact made me change my mind. When I went in for my first fitting the woman who helped me was rude as could be. She snapped at me when I asked simple questions about the alterations and didnt ask me what I wanted for my bustle just started pinning then got mad when I said I wasn't sure how I liked it. I'm an incredibly non-confrontational person and it was a very nerve wracking experience especially for something that is supposed to be exciting and fun. I left feeling very unsatisfied and I stressed for four weeks that something was going to happen to my dress cause she didn't seem like she cared at all. The bright side to this, and the reason I brought it back to 4 stars, is that when I went to pick up my dress I worked with Rhonda and she was fantastic. She was very pleasant and receptive to my questions, ultimately my dress came out beautifully and she helped show my sister how to tie up the bustle and how to fluff the under side of my skirt. She was friendly and left me feeling good about things again. I also spoke to Desiree (the manager on at the time) about what had happened at my fitting and she was very receptive and apologetic. I live in Florida and I had bought a wedding dress for my wedding that is a occurring in a month. I also bought a dress for my honeymoon and my mom bought herself a dress for the wedding. Along with the dress I bought a strapless bra and a garment bag. I was so happy with the customer service and the help I received. I needed two bridesmaid dressed in two different states. Both bridesmaids know nothing about dresses as do I, and would they get the same help I received? "Of course, of course. We do everything we can to help our brides and their bridesmaids for their most important day" I only wanted to do David's Bridal because they are located everywhere. Apparently not as everywhere as I had thought but at least everyone will be in sync. ***, upon ***, upon.... My bridesmaid who lives in vermont and went here to get a dress. Had a size 4 ordered and was not only told they do not do alterations, but was told it would arrive in 4+ weeks on the 22... less than a week before my wedding, and the bridesmaid is flying out three days before wedding. This leaves the bridesmaid 4 days to find a seamstress and get the dress hemmed. I called them personally to complain and say they need to make this time frame a little bit better. All I got was that a lady telling me that my other bridesmaid's dress came in at around the same time at 4 weeks. That is a lie. She got hers two weeks later, not a month later. Not only that I mentioned that bridesmaid said someone told her they don't do alterations there. When mentioned that, I was told that they of course do alterations (not even caring that my bridesmaid was misinformed) and were booked 6-8 weeks in, so if alterations can be done, well.. they wouldn't be. They said they were soooo busy (So just screw my bridesmaid over why don't ya). In the end they said they can do a rush job at $25 more with the cost of the hem. Why should she be charged with a rush job when a dress is going to take 1 1/2 months to arrive, just barely in time for wedding. It this perfect planning on their part? As more my dress my alterations cost over $350+ with my mom's dress and the honeymoon dress. For all the money I am piling into this place, I thought I'd get better help than what I have been getting. There is no happiness at David's Bridal. It's a front. Once you get the dress, they move on to the next victim and to them your bridal party means nothing. The prom girls mean more to them because they are future buyers... NOTE: To all the Bride's giving 5 stars to this place and other David's Bridals and saying they are helpful, like what I would have done had I not called my bridesmaid's and asked how it all went. Why not talk to your bridesmaids about their experience. You'll learn that not everyone is treated nicely. Update: 13 hours later I got a call from the store in VT saying that they can get the dress in probably two weeks earlier. Might be hope yet. Should not have to call them up and complain though to get proper service. Update: Late update, but the dress came in at around the beginning of June, not three days before wedding like my bridesmaid and I was told. I am glad I called them... read more

If I could give this no stars I would. I had a free day with my daughter so we decided to walk into David's bridal to try on some dresses (8 weeks before my wedding). When walking in I was not greeted. I walked around the store for about 45 minutes without anyone offering assistance. When I went to try on dresses I could not get the zipper up. I waited outside of my dressing room thinking the lady helping the other bride would see me when she was done and offer to help. Instead I had to walk around the store with my dress unzipped and find someone. When I did the women first asked if I had an appointment before helping me. I responded no. She proceeded to zip me up and told me that I could not try on any of the dresses that were in a bag, they were only for those who made an appointment. (Which was almost all of the dresses) I told her that this dress was not from a bag. And went back to my dressing room. After trying everything on I went out to look at more dresses. A women asked me if anyone was helping me, I said no and she just walked away. Finally my mom came to help and she too saw how cold the women who were working at the store were. I bought my dress, and I will happily never go back to that awful store again. read more

Let me start by saying I had two appointments at this David's Bridal: Summary: -staff is unprofessional, impersonal, and lacks knowledge about the dresses -VERY cramped -in-store they had only about 1/3 of the dresses that were online available for trying on -no privacy -dresses are of an inferior quality--will need undergarments, this was not the case anywhere else I tried Details: 1st appointment -My consultant was Carly, who was fabulous. - i had chosen some dresses online ahead of time (as directed when I called to shedule my appointment initially)-She pulled five of my "favorites" to start with after finding out a little about me while I browsed. so far, so good. -the rooms are TINY, it's not even fair to call them a room, it's more of a teeny, tiny mirrored closet with two hooks. which is probably why they ask you to get into the dresses yourself...no room for anyone else. I'm 5'9" and average build, let me tell you, there was not room for me and the dresses to exist in the room together, let alone trying to struggle into it (ever tried to lace yourself up tightly while wearing a gown?? not that easy!) and once you like a dress, you are asked to keep it IN this closet with you, along with the next dresses you are trying on--HOLY claustrophobia! --getting dressed is VERY public--I was fortunate enough to have my sister with me, unfortunately she couldn't fit in the room WITH me, so i had to stand half-naked exposed in the middle of the 18! or so dressing "closets" amidst several other brides and their entourages, while she got me into the dress. Where was my consultant, you might ask, well she was pulling dresses for the SECOND bride she was expected to help during each of our one hour appointments. Tough to be in two places at once!! -there is one large mirror, now that you are IN a dress, (no thanks to any employee!) you have to fight through the entourages creating a semi-circle around the ONLY three-way mirror in the place to look at yourself. When I was there (a saturday morning-yes i'm sure it is slower during the week,but still) wait for the other 5 brides also vying for the same mirror spot to finish, then hope YOUR entourage can see you through the other five bride's entourages, THEN fight your way back out....not to mention it's a little uncomfortable to have all these strangers ogling you--but then again, they just saw you half naked while your sister was lacing you up....so it's all relative I suppose. I ended up just using the mirrored doors, instead of fighting through the masses, and hanging to the side with my family and that worked okay. For my first trip, I was just trying on shapes, and not seriously shopping. Appointment 2: -called to schedule with Carly, the fabulous, again--was informed she no longer worked there (good for you, Carly!) agreed to work with someone else. This time i was actually looking for a dress. -was introduced to my far-from professional consultant, whose name I didn't even retain I was so horrified by how much breast I could see! I'm no prude, but really--my mother is in here-is that necessary?!? -was told to pull some dresses, explained i had picked several online--told to pick new ones anyway (were they just too lazy to get the list from the computer?? or too busy chatting with their coworkers?) I pulled dresses, jammed in together in plastic bags, and waited 20 minutes for my consultant to show back up to get me in a room. -this time, my room was right in front of the 3-way mirror. I got half-way into a dress before I needed my sister, and when i tried to open the door to get out, couldn't because there were three people from someone ELSE's bridal party in front of the door. When I finally got their attention to please move so I could get out, I got the pleasure of suddenly being in the center of at least 15 strangers, half-dressed waiting to be laced up. I tried two dresses on, couldn't get out in the second one to show my family, and ended up getting my own clothing back on, and walking out. If Carly was still there, I'd have given 2 stars just for her efforts...but no such luck. Future brides, go elsewhere if you want any service, assistance, or privacy along with your dress purchase! read more

I'm giving them 4 stars for their staff... they were very accommodating and tried to help in every way. I read some of the other reviews and I have to say was confused. We worked with the store manager, Cindy, who pitched right in and helped us due to so staff limitations and admired that. The young lady who helped us was great as well and Samantha was outstanding , she really pulled our experience together with our choices and was so happy she was there. As far as David's Bridal policy where you have to buy before trying on if the store doesn't have your size...... that's not so great.... but that's a corporate thing and you would think with their chain of stores they could send dresses to try on before buying. I just had the best shopping experience with Ashley -- she listened to what I wanted and selected a great assortment of dresses -- she selected one that she said would be stunning on me and she was right -- I trusted her the minute I met her. She's very knowledgeable on the dresses in the store, fabrics, designers, and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Overall a great shopping experience! read more
