I was positive that I had already found my dress at another boutique but wanted to give David's Bridal a shot to make sure I didn't see anything else I liked more that may be a bit cheaper. I made an appointment Friday night to go in Saturday morning, they are extremely busy on weekends but that's nobody's fault and is actually a good sign! Everyone was very helpful and we only waited a little bit before Renee came up to us and started our consult. I didn't give her much direction because I wanted to try on a couple different styles. After we tried on two dresses that I picked out, she put me into this tulle ballgown and I fell head over heels in love! She took my feedback on the other dresses and picked out something so beautiful and so very perfect for our venue. This dress fit in all the right places and was so extremely flattering, it was also half the price of the dress I fell in love with at the boutique..bonus! Renee never rushed me, she found me a veil that was absolutely perfect for me and the dress without me even helping. I swear, this girl knows what she is doing! I had to go home and move around finances because I didn't plan on buying a dress that day but with the sale it was impossible to pass up! Renee put everything into the system for me so I could just call with my payment which went smoothly as well. The dress and the veil came in just a few weeks later and they are perfect, I got a little nervous and she was patient and let me try the dress on again which immediately reminded me why I fell in love with it the first time. She showed me what undergarments I would need with it but was not at all pushy EVER and I decided to wait until closer to the wedding to buy the items that we picked out, again she picked the perfect slip for me and the dress! I can't tell you how thankful I am that I met Renee and I want EVERYONE to know that she is amazing, she goes way above and beyond what anyone would expect! She also found my mom her dress for the wedding and helped us pick out the color which again was perfect. She is a gem and I have and will recommend my friends to go see her, David's Bridal is lucky to have her! The other staff and managers were very helpful and great to work with as well but she stood out. As for the dressing rooms and mirrors, every bridal boutique I've been to is set up in a similar way. You don't want to sit in the dressing room and look at the most important dress you will ever purchase by yourself..you want to walk out in it and stand on the pedastool in the beautiful lights with all the mirrors and your family in chairs to watch! I had zero problems and have only wonderful things to say about David's Bridal and Renee, thank you so so much for giving me this special experience and I am so happy that I found the dress of my dreams! I would *never* recommend David's Bridal to anyone due to the experience I had with there. Given the nature of the wedding business, there is generally no do-over, so the store's errors will remain a part of my wedding memories. I purchased my dress in St. Louis on December 22, 2012 for my May 2013 wedding. I tried the dress on and your seamstress came out to help me. I did not like the train and being married overseas and walking all over that city, I said I didn't want to drag the train all over the dirty ground. The David's Bridal seamstress immediately said that she could simply cut the train and she would hem the dress for me. That sounded like a plan, we agreed to pay for a rush alteration so that she could pin the dress for me that day for a February 2013 in-store pick-up. Fast forward to February 2013 and we received a phone call less than 36 hours before the scheduled pick up that it was not possible to cut the train and make the alterations as had been proposed to me and that had already been paid. This was upsetting and it was also a glimpse into how the David's Bridal business works...my dress sat for weeks before it was even touched and then ONE day before I am scheduled to come and pick it up, I am notified that there is a problem. And I paid a rush charge for this service? Long story short is that I went to try on the dress and I accepted a bustle even though I did not love it. But I was already stressed about the process with your store and I never wanted to return again. I tried the dress on with head seamstress Amy and it was ok, though my mind was certainly preoccupied as this pick-up had not gone as planned. My complaint is that the David's Bridal employee proposed a solution to me when I bought the dress - cutting off the train - and then only weeks later I was given an explanation that it was not possible. Fine, then don't propose it in the first place! Before my wedding I had the dress looked at to make sure it was fine for my wedding and to my horror, your quick alteration job became clear...something I had not seen in February. The job was done so poorly, one side under my arm was almost 2 inches higher than the other...it was a MESS and I had to pay someone else to take apart the dress and fix what amounted to a horrible rush job. In the end I spent more on alterations than the value of the dress. I felt let down by David's Bridal and for this reason, would not recommend this store (in St. Louis or anywhere else) in good faith. You had one chance with me (as is the case for most brides) and it was a complete failure. read more

I have an upcoming wedding out of state, with lots of planning and details that are a challenge to do long distance. I was going to a nearby retailer and saw David's Bridal in Sunset Hills and decided to run in just to quickly browse. I loved feeling assisted - but not pressured - into spending any more time than I had. I was directed to one of many rows that held beautiful gowns of all colors, styles and lengths. I identified one I wanted to try on, and an associate asked me if I would be interested in anything else. She showed me a dress she felt would be perfect for me, based on the dress I had already chosen. She was right! The dress was just beautiful, and she was a great help as I discussed the pro's and cons of the dress. Soon another associate, Brandy, was helping me when the first associate went to check on something for me. Brandy suggested shoes, a wrap, hair clips and jewelry that were perfect accessories for my chosen gown. She assured me that the gown I had chosen could either be inspected and pressed to perfection or a new one ordered from another store or warehouse. She let me know about payment options (layaway, David's card, etc.), and was wonderful all the way through. Each associate (can't remember the first one, but she was great as well) seemed very friendly, positive and helpful and obviously knew what to suggest without being pushy. I went into the store just on a whim, and came out with a weight off my shoulders - the right dress, shoes and jewelry for me. I had a wonderful experience and I hope that those who may be put off by an occasional low rating will go and find out for themselves if this is the place for them. I normally do not write reviews, but in this case, I really wanted to let everyone know about my awesome experience at David's Bridal (Sunset hills plaza). I am a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding, and I procrastinated/ was busy with work and didn't go to order my bridesmaid's dress until two months prior to the wedding (I know, I know. Shame on me). When I arrived at David's Bridal, Brandy and Cassandra helped me out. They helped me figure out which size was best for me, and gave me expert advice (i.e., Chiffon doesn't have a lot of give, so it is better to size up). The color of the dress apparently is very hard to get (stupid Juniper!) and at first it seemed that I wouldn't be able to get it in time. Cassandra helped me try on other similar looking dresses while Brandy was on the phone for nearly an hour with the manufacturer, trying to figure out a way to get the dress for me in time for my friend's wedding. Well, Brandy succeeded and it all worked out. I know this is a long review, but I really and truly want to commend both of these girls for going above and beyond to help me out. They were so sweet and helpful... and if it weren't for them, I would be in a lot of trouble with the bride! One last thing, not only did Brandy help save the day with my dress, she also helped out my friend who was in the same predicament as me. And my friend lives in NYC (which is over 1000 miles away from St. Louis!) I seriously cannot say enough kind things about the David's Bridal in Sunset Hills. I am the mother of a high school junior in Pittsburgh, PA. My daughter decided to attend her school's prom at 8 PM 2 days before the date! Well, we go tearing out into the night and arrive at our local store with 20 minutes to spare. She finds the perfect dress, almost... it's a bit too tight. The Pittsburgh store located the next size for us at the Sunset Hills store in Missouri. The staff at Sunset Hills could not have been more helpful, kind, and understanding: They answered the phone before the store and registers were officially open and took my name, phone number, the style number and size of the dress and called me back promptly when the store was open. They then took the time and had the patience to answer approximately 100 questions about fit and sizing. The dress was then carefully packaged and shipped to me over night! It just arrived this morning at 8:15 AM, the day of prom! The staff at Sunset Hills saved the day and a saved this mom's sanity! I went in with my bridesmaids for a later appointment (6pm) yesterday, 3/28, to shop for bridesmaids dresses, but they were swamped. We waited a little while to get into the changing rooms but that left a bit of time for us to figure out what kind of styles we wanted for the dress. Becky, one of the managers, was our helper. She kept having to help with employees, but she was never too far away if we had questions for her. She was super friendly and got us taken care of. I've worked in fast paced environments like that, so I don't blame anyone for needing her attention as a manager. Two of the three bridesmaids I was with bought their dresses that night. I'm really excited to be going back on Thursday to shop for a wedding dress, since we didn't have time yesterday. Becky will take great care of you, if you're there with her! She's super helpful, even if she had to split her attention between you and other tasks. She definitely knows what she's doing over there! read more

Recently bought a beautiful dress off the rack there with only having about 3 weeks before the wedding. Their staff members, Brandy and Laura helped us pick out a dress and were so nice and helpful. There was no big sales push to buy a more expensive dress. The dress only needed slight alterations, and again, the lady that did the first fitting (sorry I don't remember her name) and another lady in alterations, Tara, were equally nice. We even made a last minute change to the type of buttons we wanted to hold up the train and there was no problem and no extra charge. Our first appointment was early on a Monday morning and it wasn't crowded at all so we were waited on promptly and received excellent service. The dress was ready on schedule. I was a little worried with having such a short timeframe in which to select a dress, but we literally were only there for one hour and we were done - dress, veil, shoes and all. One of the employees here, Hope Kennon, did such a great job helping me find a few special occasion dresses. I was blown away by how intuitive she was in helping me pick out different dresses and accessories that I never would have thought of. She was quick to bring me different dresses in different sizes, and I walked away with a bunch of awesome pieces in only about an hour. Probably the best part of my experience was that she really did a great job of making me feel beautiful. However, she did this in such a way that she was still honest if a dress just wasn't the right fit for me, which was a perfect balance. When trying on dresses you don't want someone that's going to tell you that you look great in every single one because that's just not being honest. She managed to give me her opinion (when I wanted it) and still make me feel amazing. I will for sure go back and see Hope K. for my future special occasion needs! read more

Dorothy is an amazing consultant! Yesterday, I went wedding dress shopping for the first time. I was very excited, but a little nervous about finding something that would fit me because I'm very petite. Dorothy was so fun and easy to work with. She put me at ease right away, and I could tell she truly cared about helping me find the perfect dress. She checked every dress to see if it could be ordered in a petite size, and she always made sure that my opinion was heard. To top it off, she was interested in getting to know me, which, I feel, gave her a better sense of what I wanted. She was extremely patient and worked very well with my group. She not only helped me find my dress, but she also helped us choose bridesmaid dresses and a dress for my mother! I want to give a HUGE shout out to Dorothy! I had a great experience at the Sunset Hills David's Bridal. I had an appointment. I arrived that day, was greated with several smiles from the sales ladies, was quickly helped into a fitting room. I had some dresses already picked out from the online website. The sales lady was great at helping me. Very friendly. Not pushy at all. I found my dress and cried!! She did not push me to buy it, I left and went to another store to try on dresses. Well, I went back to David's because that was my dress! The lady greated me once again very friendly. I ordered my dress, veil, undergarments, and flower for my hair. They said 5 months for my dress too come in, well it came in in 6 weeks! I got email saying must be picked up in 14 days. I called and they held my dress a little longer. I definitely have no complaints! I have read several bad reviews, but they were totally wonderful!!! read more

I tried on my dress late on a Friday night I was getting married in 2 days, and it didn't fit. It was off by like 4 inches No way could it be fixed, I was beside myself. I called Davids Bridal they were closing in 10 minutes and I was 25 minutes away from them. I talked to the manager and told her my situation and she said they would wait for me I could not believe it I was so honored that it mattered to them, I got there and knocked and to my amazement they had all waited to help me he whole staff. They started grabbing dresses and helping me find the perfect dress. They never made me feel rushed or anything they made me feel special!!!!!! I found a dress shoes jewelry and a jacket. I went to David bridal was looking for a dress for a dress for my brothers wedding the young lady. i showed the dress i liked she showed me a dress to try on ,she didnt give me many choices.I got the dress and was very unhappy and got in the car and told the bride i hate the dress .She stated call the manager.I stated we didnt have enought time i didnt want to coplain. I recently went into David's Bridal reluctantly looking for my wedding dress (I did not think it would go well and thought I'd leave with only a deflated ego). But my bridal consultant, Kortney, was fantastic. She brought me the first few dresses that matched exactly what I thought I wanted and they looked good. But then Kortney started brought me something unexpected and I fell in love immediately! If it wasn't for her I never would've even tried on what ended up being MY DRESS! She was so good at picking what would look good on my body and making the whole experience fun! If you go to David's Bridal in Sunset Hills make sure to ask for Kortney!!! I had the best experience at David Bridal's in Sunset Hills, MO. Everyone who I encountered was so helpful. First, Madeline, a customer service representative, was so nice on the phone when I was worried about my dress not fitting. She assured me they could get me a new size, if I needed it, and that everything would be okay. She set up an appointment a few days later for me to try my dress on. Once I got there, Brandy Bregg, the assistant manager, was so nice and helpful. She got me everything I needed, including the attire to go underneath my dress. Brandy was very patient with me and wanted to make sure I was happy. Finally, Laura Scarborough, in alterations, was also very helpful and patient with me. I give them 5 stars!! I did not have an appointment but Laura helped me anyway. She then helped me try on wedding dresses for my own wedding, again, without an appointment! She was so sweet and honest. It wasn't about a sale for her, she gave her honest opinion! I only tried on 3 dresses and fell in love with one of them! I then made an appointment with her for a later date. Myself and two of my bridesmaids came into David's Bridal just earlier this morning and I cannot say enough nice things about Holly. I had scheduled appointments and met with specialists on two different occasions but Holly was by far the most helpful and most creative. The three of us could tell she was extremely dedicated to her job, taking it very seriously and putting my overactive indecisive mind at ease. I wanted to find one dress that could compliment seven bridesmaids (two of them pregnant) in their own unique way and Holly did just that with the Versa dress. I was working with a wonderful consultant. I think her name was Jessie. You can check my file. Anyway we had done extremely well and had it narrowed down to a couple gowns when a manager swooped in. (I did not get her name but long blond hair and bossy). She didn't like the gowns we had and started bringing in things I was not looking for (long train, poofy etc). She became very pushy, argued with me when I said I didn't like something. I looked at my original consultant and said "I'm done". I made an appointment to come back to meet with my original girl but I don't know if I will keep it or not. That manager was horrible and turned my good experience bad. She should go. I went in with low exceptions, not for any reason other than I didn't think I was going find anything that I liked. I was wrong, Alex, who was great, was so patient and really listened to what I wanted. I didn't feel rushed or obligated to get anything. Everything was great and I got my perfect dress. The overall experience was fun. I was thankful to have Alex, who made me feel super comfortable and she always listened and didn't mind when I wanted to try 2 dresses' on again even though they were short staffed. Had an appointment today to go shopping for a bridal gown. My consultant was Natalie, and I had the most excellent experience with her! This was my first time trying on dresses so I had no idea what kind of style I wanted. Natalie was great with answering all my questions, finding dresses that flattered my figure, sticking to my budget, and giving so many helpful suggestions. She interacted with my bridesmaids I had brought with me and made them feel included and part of the process. She joked with us and made me feel so at ease.
