While short and brisk, I imagined what the views would be like if it was warm and sunny outside. I pictured peoples reflections being seen in the lake and the bouncing of basketballs on the b-ball court while hearing the noises of kids in the playgrounds. Then I came to my senses and realized that the walk was over due to the path being shorter than I thought. Although short, it's a great way to escape and enjoy the sounds of nature. I hope to come back here when it's warmer and I'm back on assignment in College Station.

We zig zagged through every walkway and came up just under a full mile so if you're looking at running a mile or more and don't like to backtrack, then this isn't the park for you or you can run outside of the park. It f you do, the sidewalk doesn't connect all the way around so you'll end running on the grass. The way the trees and bushes are, it's a relaxing and pleasant stroll through the mini woods. There's a large pond where I think fishing is allowed since I didn't see a sign other than no swimming. This park comes with a nice little clean playground for the kiddies and a full size basketball court to include 2 additional mini full size courts. There was even a basketball so my son and I shot some hoops for a little bit. I did see some picnic tables with bbq grills and a pavilion with more tables/chairs. If you're looking for a hike or a trail, I wouldn't recommend only because it's too easy. The walkway is kind of narrow so please be careful of others if you're running. The parking lot is a good size, but I heard it's full during game day.

This park is massive we didn't even get a chance to explore all they offered…read more We parked near Flying Horses Carousal which is located next to the large Finke pavilion that has a huge fan in the center while already providing a great place for shade to escape the humid summer temp. There were several park structures near the pavilion, from swings, slides, spider web jungle gyms. There were two buildings near that I believe you could rent out for parties. Bathrooms are a stones throw and were air conditioned and clean. We could see the skate park from where we were along with additional play areas, across the street you can see the splash pad. There is "story walk" trail you can take that leads to or from the Library situated at the top of the hill. Definitely take a stop at the carousal if it's open it's only a dollar a person to ride, and really quite a splendor to oh and ah over. Tons of shade, great place for a picnic, and to get some energy out. Can't wait to visit again with my family.

One of the trails we took was the overlook trail where there is a raised platform where you can see one of the lakes and at that time there were tons of birds on the water. This trail had more of a canopy than you'd expect and some cool trees with Spanish moss hanging on them. We'd come back.

We enjoyed the view of the lake, the quiet, and the 3 mile hike around the lake. The hosts were very accommodating and checked in on us to make sure our stay was going well and we were happy. At night they monitored the parking lot while the fisherman left for the day and watched to make sure everyone was safe, which I really appreciated. Next year they will be adding some RV sites as well as cabins next to the lake and I will definitely be returning!!

Our family had a terrible experience! We reserved two nights in late August. We saw no Park Ranger come through that evening. The next afternoon at 4:30 several families totaling probably 30 adults and 20 kids showed up with a generator, deep freeze, mounted stereo system and several tents, and they overtook the rest of our campground area. The Park Manager told us all he could do was come through at 10 p. m. and enforce the music curfew. We had no recourse on the laughing, talking, and carrying on however. We decided to bail before 9 p.m.. Will never camp overnight there again.

There was a couple having wedding photos, and there was an elderly man taking pictures, and I just really liked how serene it was. Even the surrounding areas are just open fields and it's very beautiful. I'm happy this place is not too long of a drive from Houston to escape the city.

This has become such a favorite spot of ours that I keep an extra towel and my kiddos swimsuit in the car at all times because we'll literally stop in between errands.
