My husband has been going to True Warrior for a few years now. In those years I have seen his…read moreself-confidence grow, his energy and focus improved, his desire to be healthy and strong increased. It changed the way he leads our family, being more present and wanting more for us as a family unit and wanting to have more of an impact on others - esp those of a younger generation. Earlier this year we wanted to find a family friendly MMA environment for our 9 year old - somewhere to build up his confidence, to feel encouraged, not afraid or broken down or pressured whenever he didn't quite get it right. When he told me about the Tiger cubs program we tried it out for our son. The 1st few weeks of my son attending he was all smiles...hesitant to learn something new but smiling. The kids are helpful and supportive, as they're encouraged to help teach new kids as a way of also earning stripes and advancing. Coach Toby's style of teaching is admirable - teaching them beneficial skills while also having fun; never putting the kids down or making them feel less than or shaming them, but encouraging them and partnering them with the right kids to help them. As a mom that meant a lot to me knowing I could trust this coach to have my son's best interest at heart. Shortly after, what was supposed to be just me observing turned into me joining my husband boxing, and then also joining the Warrior Women's Self Defense class on Sundays. Up until that point I was just a mediocre long distance runner, training every few years for a half or full marathon. Joining True Warrior/Warrior Women has made me feel stronger and capable (mentally and physically), more aware and wiser, and part of a community of women/men who support each other. Saturday family Boxing Day has made such a positive impact on my family - a day we look forward to working out together and training together, being close and stronger...together. That's what this school promotes - community, strength, skill, people helping people, faith and positivity, all in it together. We are grateful to Coach Toby and Coach Ryan for all they do and how they do it! Their skills are unmatched and amazing to see, but how they teach it and coach others is impressive. It's an environment that can be intimidating walking into, but walking out of those classes you feel welcomed, included, empowered, absolutely humbled at times (haha!), thankful, unified. I absolutely love this school and what it's done for my family!! -Rodriguez fam

We love the esprit de corps, the values, and the spirit of fun and safety that embody this way of training. CrossFit Cornelius is a local family owned and operated business. The owners, Mike and Kristin,…read moreboth develop the programming themselves utilizing their years of health and fitness experience. They have two other primary CrossFit coaches, Michelle and Robert, who are fantastic! The different exercises are clearly explained and demonstrated before getting started. Importantly, the coaches watch each athlete and make any suggestions to do the movement correctly and safely. I'm not one of the young guys crushing the workouts with massive weights. Despite that, I never felt an outsider or less important than the others. The other athletes and coaches are very inclusive. The coaches take the time to listen and alter the workouts to accommodate any of your limitations - such as low back pain in my case. You will not regret dropping in and taking a class at CrossFit Cornelius.

Did I mention, that I only work out to support my eating habits?…read more But seriously... With all of the eating that I do and the travel that I do for work, I have to make sure to work out. My main gym in the local YMCA but whenever the Y is closed for holiday, or a snow day, or I just need to do something different... Crossfit Cornelius is where it is at. I have dropped into many Crossfit facilities in the last couple of years and C2 has most people beat by far. The coaches are informative and instructional as needed. Most members have been at it long enough and don't need a whole lot of coaching, but that doesn't stop each coach from helping every athlete to perfect their skills and form. Mike and Kristin, the owners, are phenomenal people as well. They invited me to their gym when they were training out of their garage. I work part-time at the YMCA and get a free membership there so I can't justify paying for separate training... YET. Their drop-in rates can't really be beat... $15 a visit and you get some exceptional training/coaching. I will continue my habit of dropping in from time to time with these fine folks.

I'm not usually one for organized / group exercise, but Kadi Fit changed my mind tonight…read more I had my first kardio dance class tonight, as part of the "your first class is free" offer. For starters, the studio in goregous! It's in an repurposed warehouse space with other businesses. Beautiful hardwood floors, bright lights, plenty of space (with a nice area with a couch & coffee table & literature wall) & a booming sound system. You're greeted as soon as you walk in at the checkin / reception counter. Kadi Fit utilizes the key ring card as your membership card, so you'll scan it when you come in. Katie (the owner) & one of her employees, Emma, are welcoming, super sweet , & were great to talk to. They didn't pressure me into becoming a member tonight (which I'm going to join as soon as I get back into the working world). I got to the studio a little early, so I watched the Primal class, which looked almost like a prep course for boot camp. :D However, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves & pushing their bodies to the extreme. Now, for the kardio class. WOW, so much fun! 45 minutes of high energy cardio with a fantastic music soundtrack. Katie & Megan (I believe that was her name) took turns leading high impact dances moves & steps. I really enjoyed myself! There were a lot of women in this class, but we still had plenty of space to move - we sure needed it! Katie & Megan had us all over the floor. Katie not only offers a ton of class options, she also teaches lifestyle. Her online site features a blog with plenty of useful information. The site also offers you to book classes & services online as well. I can't wait to become a member!
