Visited DWC during my birthday weekend and very much enjoyed! As someone who has not been dining in restaurants much at all during COVID, this was a welcome treat. I reserved a table online through the website and was able to have a choice of dining location: inside, covered patio, or outside in igloo. I chose the covered patio. A note about parking, there is a parking lot located in the back of DWC as well as metered spots in front. I arrived at reservation time and was brought to my table. Our server, Ashley, was friendly and answered all of our questions. They offer a wine flight of pre-determined wines for $20 and various bottles of wine ranging from dry to sweet for red and white. I indulged in a couple glasses of Lambrusco which I really enjoyed. As for food, I got a combo charcuterie board for the table and the crab and radicchio salad for myself. All very tasty. It was nice getting to see the place fill up as we sat, ate, and drank. It was a very lively spot on a Saturday afternoon! At 90 minutes, Ashley let us know we were at the end of our reservation time but let us stay until there was a need for us to leave. I'm assuming they cap reservations at 90 minutes because the overall winery space is quite small. I found this to be a nice place to spend a Saturday afternoon and look forward to coming back for more day drinking! read more

I really wanted to love this place. Inside, the decor was beautiful, although we didn't eat indoors we had reservations for outside in an igloo. The igloo was leaking-- on our heads, the table, etc. So I'm not incredibly pleased with that, as you can see it was raining. The scallops-- they were good. They were raw, and really it was the sauce that made the meal... however, the dish was $13, and I got about 6 scallops. So $2 for a raw scallop in some sauce. Not impressed. I enjoyed my wine. I got the shortcake wine, and it was good-- I even got a bottle to go, in support of small business. This wine tastes like strawberries-- without being too sweet and bringing in the tartness and brightness of the fruit which I think is well done. My partner was not a huge fan of the wine he got; a dark red. The low review really is a reflection of the ambiance, the price and quality of the scallops, and the fact that we reserved an igloo for what I thought was 2 hours but even on the website it says 90 minute reservations-- we were told to leave abruptly at about 60 minutes even though there was an empty igloo beside us and our time was not up. Furthermore I noticed other people that were there prior to us not being asked to leave. Came here on a Friday night with a party of 5 and was able to be seated right away at the front of the restaurant. The hostess, Katie, was also our server and she was super sweet. However, it was lot going on to seat other guests and take care of us, so we waited a while for our orders. I do recommend the wine flight-- changes daily and includes a white, rose, red and a sparkling option. The space is beautiful and they have a nice patio in the back too! I visited the establishment for a comedy show on a Thursday evening. Upon entry, after waiting to be welcomed, the waiter said sit wherever you like. The only unoccupied table was right there at the door and there were several people (entertainers) standing near the table. I walked to the other end of the establishment and saw a number of 4-person tables occupied by two people. I came back, grabbed my friend, and asked to sit at one of the tables. Since we paid for tickets to the show, this is something the staff should have handled. In fact, this could have been done in advance of our arrival. That said, I had a serving of cabernet and it was about $15. Thus, the 3 stars. Love love love DWC! I really wish there were more black owned wine bars & wineries all around NC! This place is so chic. Such a beautiful spot for girls day/night or date night. They have indoor & outdoor seating. The inside is gorgeous & the outside area is so beautiful, you can't go wrong no matter where you choose to sit. My friends & I loved everything about this place. We were seated right away with our reservation -- it was pretty empty when we arrived, but the crowd followed us. It started getting packed about 40 minutes from our arrival. We were told immediately that cocktails weren't an option today. What a bummer! I was looking forward to seeing what Davidson had to offer. We opted for a wine and a glass of wine. We were seated right away for our reservation that we were a little early for. We'd chosen patio seating. There are umbrellas over the "exposed" tables and fans under the awning. Lovely vibe. The French Toast Bread Pudding was good as were the mimosa flights (today was apple, orange, and pomegranate). The menu says "Small Plates" and they aren't kidding. This is NOT your typical brunch. The FTBP wasn't so small that I was still hungry after, nor did I feel stuffed. If you are bringing a huge brunch appetite, you may need a second plate. read more

We were surprised no explanation of anything was offered by our pregnant waitress. The QR code only detracts from the delight of perusing the menu and comparing descriptions and isn't user friendly for the older family I had with me. Service was minimal, bare minimum and the waitress didn't ask if we wanted anything else after our charcuterie board (kitchen advice: keep nuts and fruit off of the meat for your non meat eaters). The decor was excellent and we wish the waitress was up to snuff. We drove 40 minutes specifically to support this winery and ended up going to the Indian restaurant a few doors down and had amazing food and service. Part of the pleasure of going to winery's is the waitstaff explaining the wines and showing interest and knowledge in the presentation. I'd visit next time I'm in town but ask for a different waitress. I have been wanting to visit Davidson Wine Co. for some time now. The number one thing that finally made that happen during these tough pandemic times was the private outdoor igloos they were offering for reservations on Resy! We felt safe to finally dine out and it felt so good to have that option available (I hope they keep it for a while). The atmosphere is so relaxing. The wine was amazing. The food menu was so delicious! We ordered a bottle of their Carnival (so good that we took one home as well). The flatbread, wings, cheeseboard, and crab dip were all just perfect! And I discovers the most delicious combination while I was there ~ honey and cheese...wow! We came for a ladies night. The place is nice and had a lot more space than I had anticipated. We ordered the charcuterie boards, which were delicious! The wine were pretty good as well. My reason for only 3 stars is because the service was slow. I realize there's a shortage of staff, so I took that into account. However, our server took long to take orders. There was a point in the evening where she had walked past us a couple of times without checking in that one of our friends had to just walk up to the bar and catch her there to finally order. Being one who dined out 2-3 times a week, this change has taken some getting accustomed to. I will say, I felt very comfortable at Davidson Wine Co. The staff were masked and seen wiping down tables and surfaces multiple times while we were there. We taste several of their labeled wines and decided to purchase a bottle to take home and enjoy later. The bar staff was friendly and clearly knowledgeable about the menu (and shared influence for the ingredients in the craft cocktails). TL;DR- Good wine selection but the customer service was wanting. When I heard that a new black-owned winery was open I jumped at the opportunity to visit! Good wine selection. Vibe didn't give black-owned as it was a very unexpected demographic that was throughout the winery as well as early 2000s slow-rock music playing throughout my visit; not a good or bad thing just an observation. The reason for my 4/5 star rating was due to the lack of customer service. When booking your reservation you have to do it online & have a small grace period to arrive before your reservation is canceled. When calling the venue, you receive an automated voice system that prompts you to 'Press 1 for a representative' which only sends you into an endless loop of their voicemail telling you to email for service. I left my card at the winery after having a few so of course I called, I emailed, I left messages, I even DM'd them, NO RESPONSE. There were plenty of seats(6:00pm) inside and the bar was the perfect location. Music playing throughout, not so loud that you couldn't have conversations though. The bartenders/waitresses were very attentive also. The Cheesecake...very well paired with the Bonita Applebum. First the Cheesecake was cool/cold and delicious! The Applebum was very crispy and refreshing. I also went with a flight but did not like it so much. The Zinfandel was good but that was all that tickled my palette. Absolutely in love with this place! Quaint little wine bar in Davidson, totally loved the patio, part covered part uncovered. Great servers and the choices of wines and small plates were awesome. They had craft beers, Red wines, Reserves, whites and Rose, and sparkling . Sodas also. I chose the Hogwash Rose, which was crisp and dry, delicious. My friend got the 75 Cabernet Sauvignon. Which also got a thumbs up. They also do pre chosen wine flights, which is always fun. Bistro menu had, cheese boards, charcuterie, salads, flatbreads, some sweets, truffles and dessert of the day. We got the cheese board, which had 3 fantastic cheeses on it, nice, strong, mild, and creamy. With some nuts, dried fruits, pickles. honey, and crackers. Went fabulously with the wine. Forgot to ask what cheeses they were but they were great especially the one with the rosemary. Great place for a drink before dinner, or just a great place to get small plates and enjoy a good wine. I came to this location on a Thursday night in July and I was quite excited to visit because I haven't been to a winery in a while due to Covid. I looked at the menu prior to arriving to sort out what I wanted. Upon arrival they were all of of my favorite... Prosecco. They had 3 brands on the menu and none was in stock. I went with the flight which was the special and maybe two of the four wines were pretty good. I will return because I wouldn't mind trying the Prosecco when it does come in stock. read more

Great service, staff was very welcoming and informative. They were so busy over the weekend so by the time we arrived Tuesday evening the kitchen staff was sent home. We just needed to coat our stomachs for the wine we were about to drink, lol. The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to bring in pizza from another local spot. We saw a drag brunch show there-- buff faye's which was fantastic. The 2 starts is for the restaurant itself not the show. The venue didn't have a bartender on staff so they couldn't offer cocktails just wine (which given these times can be forgivable) The real crime here was the amount of food available for a "buffet" brunch. They had like 2 tiny tables with plates big enough for a Polly pocket for the entire restaurant. They only offered a cheeseboard and flatbread pizzas, and some biscuits about halfway through. Also idk if they were cooking them one at a time or what because you could really only take a small square or 2 or else the people behind you in line wouldn't get anything. I haven't been here before and I wanted to try some wine. I ordered a flight and at this place they pick the flight for you you can not choose the wine you want to taste from there selection. I wanted to pick a local wine to bring to girls night and I wasn't able to sample the wines I was interested in. I had the flight and the flight selected were wines that were more dry. Davison Wine Co is an awesome little wine and food bar conveniently located in downtown Davidson. They have indoor seating and a really cool back patio. Reservations are recommended. For wine they offer some commercial goodies as well as their own blends. I preferred the house offerings, and found them to be delicious! Leigh took amazing care of us and provided us with just the right amount of attention, wine, and appetizers. I really wanted Davidson to be a spot I would want to come back for with some girlfriends or Brunch buuuuutttt!!! We were here a few weeks back and here are my thoughts. Pros: Ambience is nice, it definitely gives you the intimate feeling. We were seated inside so I can only speak to that. Reservation process easy. Neutral: Food- The wings were pretty good,so was the mozzarella flatbread (so I thought) and the Charcuterie board was pretty good, not $26 good but good. I appreciated the in-house items on the board, I personally felt for the price it was very small. I never like to compare but just know this was not our first time having a board made up of mostly in-house items. Improves: Food- We knew this couldn't be a regular go to spot simply because the drive is too far, with that being said we ordered a good bit off the menu to have a nice variety. The Oysters 1/2 shell, I didn't try them because I don't eat them but my husband did not like them, he ate about 2 and pushed it to the side, he also was not a fan of the shrimp and crab flatbread. This was just not a good ordering day for him. The brussels were supposed to be roasted but it tasted as if they blanched them in hot water and they roasted for color, very watery. Service and Wine selection: We arrived around 3:30pm, we asked our waitress if we could have a flight of their (DAVIDSON) wines, she told us they do not do flights of their PERSONAL wine but they so flights of the OTHER wines that are offered. We thought this was strange because the whole point of us coming out there was to try THEIR wine. None the less, we both tried the red wines by Davidson, nothing spectacular. Later a group of 4 were seated near us and we hear their waitress a different one give "samples" of each of the Davidson wine, we asked our waitress "hey we can have samples, their table is having it" she then says oh yeah, we can give you a sample, at this time I look at her confused like 1. Why didn't you offer that up and 2. You give samples but not flights. got it. Also, seeing as we were. Ot feeling the wine, I asked for a cocktail, our waitress said the bartender doesn't come in till 4:30, welp there goes that. Anyways, I see many people enjoy them and their SM is on point, I can't say we won't be back, I'll just say no time soon. read more

I've been to DWC three times over the past year or so, and my first two visits were awesome. The service was good, the wine was great, and the cheese board (along with their fig jam!) was exceptional. My most recent visit on 4/25/21 was less-than-satisfactory. For starters, our server was inattentive and did not know the menu well; he nearly dropped a plate of food on one of us and didn't even apologize, and then overcharged us for the mimosa flight. It was supposed to be $12, but he charged us $20 and didn't apologize for the mistake. To top it all off--the brunch was mediocre. This was my first time coming for brunch here, and I won't be back for it. My friends ordered the French toast--it was dry as all get out they said, hard to cut and while it was a small plate, they only got two slices of what looked like regular, plain toast you could buy from the grocery store for a buck. For $8, they expected more, and I can't blame them. My entrée, the vegetarian biscuits and gravy, was decent. However, given that my friends traveled over an hour and a half to try this place just made it even worse that it didn't meet our expectations. I'll be back for the wine for sure; this is a nice spot in a great location but brunch--I won't be trying that again. If hadn't been for this last visit, I'd give this place a 4 out of 5 stars. read more

I recently attended a puzzle and sip event here. First. Let me say it was easy to find parking. There is street parking and a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. When I walked in I immediately felt comfortable with the nice warm atmosphere and kind welcome from the staff. No room. Over-priced. Distant and slightly snooty staff. Many people came in to see the menu, but it's a QR code--at least have a couple hardcopies for them to look at that are clean-able. They all left with scanning. Would I go back? No. Do I suggest it? No. We were in and out in 30 minutes, left most of my wines in the glass. This place had so much potential and I really wanted it to be great!! I was in Charlotte from Ohio for my bachelorette weekend and wanted to only dine at Black Owned establishments. We were a party of 12, but understood we needed to make reservations and may not all be seated together, which we were fine with. 3 of my ladies made the reservations for 4 a piece. When we arrived we were seated in the same area in the inside at 3 different tables. One of my ladies who had arrived before me, informed me that they were told by the owner that there would be a $75 charge for us being a "party". Had this noted on the site or had we actually been reserved as a "party" this would have been fine. However, that was not the case. When I inquired about this from the owner she stated that due to the reservations she had to bring in more staff and she was there to work. Unsure how that was our issue, when we booked as 3 separate reservations. One of my bridesmaids was able to get this waived as we were not asking to be served a party and did not mind being 3 separate parties in the establishment. From this point on customer service was non-existent. The 4 that arrived first were able to place drink and food orders. My table which was 2nd was able to place drink and food orders, but only received half of the food orders. The last table did not receive drinks or food. Not that it was necessary, but I was never acknowledged as being there for a special occasion or even a congratulations. In fact, the owner never made eye contact again with anyone from our "party" although she supposedly was there to service us. I am giving this place a 2 star rating because of the potential. My salad was absolutely amazing and delicious. I can't say the same for my flat bread, because I never received it. I left here upset, disappointed, and hungry. We went on to spend $600 at another establishment closer to our Lake House in Lake Norman. I wish my dollar could have stayed Black. read more

Davidson Wine Co. is one of our favorite wine bars - we go frequently (at least two or three times per month), and every experience has been excellent. The wine is fantastic, the food is great, and the team is kind and enthusiastic. Wine: I love ordering their wine flight, which changes frequently and features four different wines. It's an incredible value, and I enjoy being able to try out new wines without having to commit to an entire glass. Their in-house red wines are my favorite - I love the Amarrosso and Vertigo. Food: The combo cheese/charcuterie board is one of my favorites from any restaurant! The selection of cheeses and meats is always fresh and interesting, and I love the rotating accompaniments (honey, mustards, etc). The candied walnuts are my favorite. I also like that they provide warm, crunchy pita wedges - they have the perfect structure for holding toppings, and somehow they've become one of my favorite parts of the entire board! We've also ordered flatbreads (delicious!) and cannoli (simply amazing, the filling is perfect). Patio seating is beautiful, and the interior of the space is gorgeous as well. Lots of cool lighting and modern, contemporary touches. You'll want to stay a while just to enjoy the space!
