Seven Jars Winery is a newer winery and distillery (I think around 10 years old or so) and they offer a blend of traditional and innovative wines, as well as a distillery with whiskey and vodka. There is something for everyone and if you do the tasting, you get around 15 -16 tokens to taste options at the winery and distillery. On the winery side, they have a selection of white and red wines, as well as sangria options. Some are even in production and if they're a hit, they will begin to bottle them for purchase. In the distillery side, they have whiskey and vodka in variety. The 102 proof whiskey and the rye options were super smooth! They have a pickle vodka which was different, but really good when paired with the Bloody Mary mix! You also do a distillery tour, to see what's made and how it's made. They also have a really great story about their history! The staff was amazing and friendly from start to finish! Went for a post July 4th outing. We tried a bunch of wines and distilled spirits - bought a few bottles. It's a great outing for a rainy day. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderfully warm and charming spot to host a good time while engaging in tasting with friends! The charcuterie board was plentiful and paired excellently with the variety of wine selections. An out of town friend and I came here for their tasting. We had the "tour" to ourselves as they were about to close for a private event, but let us come in anyway. I will say this, it is a bit pricey for what it is. $20 was high imho for the tastings you get, even though you got quite a bit of tastings, but I still feel like $10 would have been more appropriate, but that's my only gripe. The first part of the tour you go into a little sitting room w/all sorts of old memorabilia and the owner tells the history of the "Seven Jars" which covers mobster activity in the Queen City and some great anecdotes involving Vegas. The storytelling was great and enthralling! You then go to where the whiskey is brewed and it's a quick and dirty sort of how they make their product and you can even see the mash and smell the distillate. If you've never done a distillery tour, it's not overly informative, but you get the gist. Then you do the whiskey and spirit tasting. We tried their vodkas & whiskeys, all of which were interesting and tasty. However, we both loved that they actually smoke one of your whiskey tasters, which was our fav. Joe, who was our host for the tastings, was an absolute delight and also our fav! They also brew beer and have wines to taste in a different area. They have snacks to pair w/the wines, which were just OK and we didn't get to try the beers because their private event was about to start. All in all a nice experience and my friend enjoyed himself. Would recommend checking out if the $20 tasting price tag isn't too much of a deterrent. They also have a great gift shop with a lot of fun wine, beer, and whiskey shirts and household knick knacks. read more

Booked a last minute Wine and Spirits Distillery Tour last weekend and it was much more than I anticipated. When you pull into the parking lot, the building is very unassuming. Judy and Weeb were phenomenal! They were friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. They answered all our questions. (Weeb even recommended a local NC BBQ spot and it was delicious!) The wine was good, especially the Coconut Yuzu Pinot Gris! The tasting is approximately an hour long. Worth it if in the Charlotte area and don't have time to get to a vineyard! We couldn't figure out how to book a tour online so we swung by around 3:15 on a Saturday since we were already in town for something else and the owner (Uncle Scotty) and staff were gracious enough to let us do a walk in tour. We started off on the wine/beer side. Only one person in the group was a big wine person but we were given 8 cards that we could turn in for samples of one of their 14 varieties. Surprisingly we all found ones we liked. It was a great touch that they also provided snacks to match the wines. Once the prior tour was done on the liquor side we moved over there. The pickle vodka was what I was I was most excited about and it was quite unique. We could definitely taste the dill. And the Bloody Mary mix was great too and I'm not a huge tomato juice person. Then we did the quick tour of the actual distillery and learned a little history of the family which I loved. The tour is a little more pricey than your typical distillery but you do get wine, beer and liquor. read more

This was an amazing tour!!! We booked online and we were luckily the only people in our time slot! So we received very individual treatment while there! There is a wine side of the distillery and a alcohol side! Due to laws in NC, they cannot be in the same dwelling! Our first part of the tour was the wine side! I personally love a good sweet to semi sweet wine! There were plenty of accompaniments to try with the wine! The young lady was very knowledgeable about each wine and was very friendly! She was very charming and personal do and picked up on our palettes and knew where we would quit her tastings. She was right!! Our amateur pallets tapped right out as they got more bitter! The wine tour was a hit with us so we ventured next door for the alcohol/liquor tasting! The young man was soo friendly and fun! Given that I am not a big liquor drinker, it was a bit much for me! But I tried them all! LoL! He gave us the story of the distillery which was pretty cool! There is a separate room with pictures and memorabilia of the story of the distillery! It was very entertaining and a wonderful story! All in all, it was an awesome tour with charming guides to direct! read more

Descending upon this locale...I'm sure I had the same thought as most of the would be patrons who cruise into the parking lot..."am I in the right place?" The car service driver insisted he was at the correct spot when we turned in... a non-descript industrial strip mall with dozens of identical entrances. They proved you didn't need anything fancy to fire a still back in the prohibition era...they seem to have taken this mantra...and many of their other back stories and brand elements to create their product. If you venture for the tasting tour, you will be treated with those stories and the explanation as to how they came to be in existence today. For the $20 a person cost, we got to go up and down their spirits list, take the distillery tour...finish up and then head around the other side to try their wine and beer offerings. They had quite the collection out; I highly recommend the Peach Apricot Chardonnay and the White Cranberry Pinot Gris if you have an affinity for easily palatable fruit tinged wines that still hold the flavor spectrums of your classics. The Tour itself was not only enjoyable for the storytelling but also extremely instructional, they had answers to almost all of the questions posed. When one couldn't be answered they even got the brewmaster on the phone to set the record straight! After the tour was over we stuck around and had a few more glasses of our favorites before getting the car ride back downtown. If you aren't up for the tasting and tour...They deliver!!! read more

A friend and I tried this place and we loved it! You get 14 tastings and can mix and match them between wines and liquors. So we both tried 8 wines and 6 liquors. Our guide Weeb, was very knowledgeable of all the pours and was very pleasant and patient with us and all of our questions. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at 7 Jars recently when I went in for a tasting. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. All of their products from the Merlot to the bourbon, rum and even their bloody Mary mix were top-tier. They pride themselves on their refined process and being free of impurities. It comes through powerfully in the taste. I'm looking forward to going back again! I took home with me many gifts for the family for the holidays. My department tries to socialize outside of work and what better way to bond than over booze! We began with their rum and vodkas first. The vodka was served with a fruit mash that was very sweet and tangy. Both were served separately and it was suggested to try them individually then together. What's funny is that in the state of North Carolina, a distillery can not mix "mixers" and liquor on site...but the state has no control of what is mixed in your mouth. (HA!) The rum was very strong and a little overpowering for my taste. However, the pickleback vodka was fabulous with the bloody Mary mix. I never thought pickle flavored vodka would be so tasty! We took a break to let our palates cool and learned the history of the distillery. Afterwards, we sampled the whiskeys and bourbons...both were very strong in flavor. The highlight of the bourbon/whiskey flight was the smoke machine! The smoke added depth to the flavor of the liquor. We toured the facility and learned about the bottling process and then it was time for wine! The raspberry sangria was THE BEST! They had a variety of wines; red and white. I left with two bottles of wine and I am now a fan of Seven Jars! read more

My fiancé and I checked this out as a fun thing to do on our anniversary and try a variety of wines and spirits and I have to say that they went above and beyond. We were fortunate to be the only ones in the tour group and had a great time! We were walked through all the different wines available and it was also really nice that you got to hear about the style and flavor profile before tasting, making it so nothing that either of us tried was anything we disliked! Hearing about the history was also fun and the spirits are all worth trying along with their shrub pairings. Absolutely recommend going, tasting everything you can, and probably walking out the door with at least one of the bottles! I can't say enough about my experience at Seven Jars during their Saturday wine making class. I was unsure really what to expect, but when we arrived and were treated to samples of Sangria and snacks, I knew we were in for a good time. The class itself was hands on and incredibly informative. What was an amazing twist to this though was that when we finished each step, we got a chance to explore the site and learn more into the history of the distillery. We took a tour and sampling at the distillery next door, as well as sampled all of the wines, as well as a few beers. It was also a very interesting introduction into some interesting Charlotte history. Even though the focus of this was around learning how to make wine, the tasting experience itself blew all other tastings I've been to out of the water (and I'm no newbie to alcohol tastings). I highly recommend heading over to experience Seven Jars to experience it all for yourselves! read more

Had an amazing experience tasting from their distillery. Pickled Vodka amazing with the mix the use. Bourbon whiskey has that tasty slow flavor that a real bourbon lover likes. Straight or on the rocks it is flavorful. The rum had that natural sweet kick everyone loves. I have drank their wine several times an it never disappoints. Give me a Merlot.
