We are new to Lewisville and my wife recently went in to get our library card. We had driven by the…read morelibrary on multiple occasions and thought it looked like a beautiful facility. My wife assured me it is just as impressive in the inside. The library has special events this summer which include the stories of three bakeries in the community: Louie and Honey's Kitchen, Ava's Cupcakes and Black Mountain Chocolate. Friday Family Films is monthly family event and they also offer Ongoing Adult Programs such as: "Hook and Loop Group" which is a monthly gathering of folks who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such; "Yoga for Beginners" which is a free session of yoga offered both in-person or virtually; "Color & Coffee Group" allowing some coloring and socializing with the library providing coloring sheets, pencils and gel pens along with coffee and tea; "Witchy Washi Crafters" which is an in-person event where folks create chalkboards (seating is limited to 10). She also learned there are two book clubs, "Tuesday at Two" and "The Friends Book Club", which allows folks to join either in person and virtual. To say we are impressed is an understatement.

The cleanliness of the facility, the friendliness of the staff and the multitude of offerings they have for the community are always on point. When I first pulled in, they had a pretty large free parking garage which was super helpful! They have numerous rooms for meeting spaces, lots of computers, and multiple info. desk areas where people are available to help you if you need it. They also have a lot of resources for audiobooks online. The only issue is some of them can take a while to become available...Overall, I am a little bit sad I am just now coming to visit this library! I feel like I have been missing out! You can use the printers with a library card for 10 free prints a day (they are $0.15 each so up to $1.50/day). I will say just like with any place you need to be aware of your surroundings! There were a couple of times I was making sure I kept an eye out, but luckily there are a lot of people around as well as a security guard that makes his rounds. This made me feel super safe! Hugo the hornets mascot came and entertained the children, he was available for pictures and for everyone that registered their child, they received a golden ticket and were able to get on the book bus to pick out a book that they could keep! This was a great event to kick off summer break!

The Central Library downtown is wonderful. It has a lot of resources for all kinds of users, from movies to a massive kids area. Especially for kids, this is a great place to visit occasionally. It inspires my kids to read more which is difficult to do. They enjoy visiting, looking through all the book options, and checking out their choices. It's also right next to LaBauer park and the children's center so it makes for a great day out together.

Her presence is such a joy and you can tell she really loves children. Throughout the music and movement portion, along with story time, your child will be introduced to basic concepts such as ABC's, colors and numbers, arts and crafts, dancing, songs, foreign language and more. The consistency and repetition helps the child remember the songs so they can participate more easily. It's very hands on and thoughtfully planned. We have noticed a big growth in attendance over the last few months so it can be a bit overwhelming when the class has reached full capacity. I recommend getting there early, if you can, to ensure you have a spot. It's that popular!! I really wish Forsyth county library would model their story time after this, I feel like this should be the standard and as a result more children would be thriving. Having the exposure to a bilingual teacher who teaches Spanish in a fun way has been so appreciated. The children section of the library itself is separated and offers toys for the children to play with. It's organized in a way that makes it easy to find books and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. The only thing different in this county vs. Forsyth, is if you wanted something printed you will need to be prepared to pay, whereas in Forsyth county, your first 10 pages are free. Their sensory garden, which was opened within the last year, really fell short in my opinion as to what I was expecting. Sometimes it seems like people who design these things have no experience with what we are truly in need of or what's developmentally appropriate or helpful for engagement of the senses. It's a big flop, we visited it one time and that was enough. Doesn't help that there is no shade and it's next to a loud busy road. Not much or a garden experience either. Just hot pieces of metal and plastic to look at that feels more artistic than sensory. You'll see what I mean if you visit. Overall the classes are where it's at, not just for children but adults too! So come here for that if you want to participate in free offerings and meet like minded people in your community!

The book sale itself was packed but they had so many wonderful volunteers helping to steer the crowd, it was pretty seamless. They even had volunteers walking around asking if they could take your books and put them on a table to hold for you so you could keep shopping comfortably. it was great! The library has multiple stories and was very clean and quiet. I will absolutely be back soon!!
