After enjoying a week long getaway vacation, my car engine decided to go out on me and left me stranded on the side of I-70 just outside of Hays, KS on a Friday evening. My emergency roadside assistance from my insurance company suggested Davis Automotive and Towing, and I'm so glad they did. Robbie got to me as soon as possible and suggested a local motel that was close by since they often offered lower rates when people mentioned that they did business with them. Robbie was courteous, professional, and extremely helpful offering suggestions and answering all of my questions during a nerve racking situation. Once I arrived at the facility the next morning, Dallas was very generous and helpful in taking care of me and offering suggestions. I asked him a lot of questions, and he seemed happy to help. When no rental car facilities were open over the weekend, he offered to call the manager of Hertz down the street to see if he could help me out in a pinch. I was trying to get home to my daughters as soon as possible. Thankfully he was able to assist, and I was able to get a rental car. When I reached back out to Dallas about a month later requesting a copy of the receipt, he asked for feedback about the things he suggested to me to make sure they were helpful. I was truly impressed with the customer service this company provided me, and I'd recommend them to anyone. I cannot say enough kind words about this business. Dallas and Casey were amazing! They were so kind and helpful. My mom drove from Louisiana to Colorado which took three days. They had something go wrong with the truck and Dallas and Casey were wonderful to my mom. They comforted her and helped her quickly. My dad recently passed and this was my mom's first time on a road trip without him. She was very nervous. So to have a problem with the vehicle was a huge stressor. Called, they told me it would be 30 minutes. 40 minutes later I call back.... only to hear, "oh, sorry we won't be making it out to you after all." Thanks to Dallas and the rest of the team my girlfriend and I were able to get back on the road in a timely manner, not to mention at a decent price. They all worked very hard to get our car fixed after the tire popped and two tire rods bent. We didn't have anywhere to go so they let us hangout in the shop the whole time and even offered us muffins at one point (my girlfriend loved the muffins). My wife and I each took our cars in for repairs during March and April. They replaced my wife's water pump, and replaced a part in my car, saying it would stop the transaxle light from coming on. In early May, my wife's car broke down in nearby Ellis, and a mechanic there said the problem was the bearings for the water pump were loose and the water pump was leaking. The timing belt had also jumped. He suggested we take it back to Davis, since it was the problem they worked on. Davis has known we were coming for a week, towed it to their shop on Monday, and now can't get to it until maybe next week. They promised us half-price labor right away, and said the car would be fixed by Wednesday or Thursday. They still haven't looked at it, and it's Thursday afternoon as I write. My transaxle problem reared its ugly head again after my wife's car completely stopped working, and the transmission itself completely blew on the highway. We now are paying for that repair, but thankfully not through Davis. There's plenty of places to go in Hays, but don't go here. Both mechanics who have worked on our cars since have said Davis had no business saying they fixed them or even to work on them in the first place. I'll go back to both of these mechanics. I don't normally complain, but I honestly do not understand how this business is still open. They're slow. They're rude. They lack any type of customer service. I was quoted one price and received a bill for almost double. I am local resident and was very very discouraged by the whole ordeal. When asked about it, they were very rude and I was forced to go to another mechanic. Avoid this place at all costs. I wouldn't trust them to check the air pressure on my tires, nor could I afford it. read more
