Usually the potted plants that a for sale that sell the most are whichever variety is blooming. This property is one of a few that were parceled out from a peach orchard. There is a nice pond with some pond side shade and several small tables with chairs for a picnic area, which we took advantage of. The staff are all helpful. Children 5 and under receive free admission, else it is $0 per person. On a pretty day, with peonies in bloom it's a great two to three hour return to nature adventure, especially with a picnic involved. We were accompanied by 4 children from our church, one boy, 9, and girls 7,5 and 3. They all enjoyed the trip.

The peony fields in Inman are about an hour to an hour and a half from Charlotte, conveniently located on the way toward Greenville and Spartanburg, and they make for a truly charming day trip. First, a note of respect: this is a private home and working farm. Be mindful, be courteous, and treat the property with care. It's a special place that they've generously opened to the public, and that deserves appreciation. Opening day of the season had just begun when I visited, and while not all the blooms were fully open yet, there were still beautiful varieties in bloom and many more on the way. They had a large selection of potted plants for sale--probably over 50 varieties--ranging from about $45 to well over $100 for some heirloom types. I didn't purchase any plants this time, but the selection was impressive. At one point they offered a cut-your-own option, but this year they are focusing on growing for market, so visits are currently for viewing and shopping rather than cutting. That makes sense from a farming perspective, since peonies must be harvested before they fully bloom. The property itself is thoughtfully laid out and very well organized. The fields are mapped and terraced, and there are charming touches throughout--benches placed around the grounds, photo props available for visitors, and plenty of scenic spots to sit and take in the views. It feels romantic, peaceful, and intentionally designed. I purchased an annual pass for $25, which I thought was a great value considering single-day admission is $10. I fully expect to return with family and friends throughout the season. Amenities are simple but helpful. There are air-conditioned restroom trailers on-site, which I appreciated, especially on a warm day. Payment is cashless, and Apple Pay is accepted, making transactions quick and convenient. One thing to keep in mind: accessibility may be challenging for some visitors. This is a working farm with uneven terrain and no paved walkways, and the restroom trailers require climbing several steps. Even for someone reasonably mobile, the incline can feel steep. There's also a small gift shop on the property that is absolutely adorable. They sell all things peony-themed--candles, dish towels, notebooks, serving pieces, and fresh stems. It's hard not to find something charming to take home. If you plan to visit, consider bringing your own picnic. There are bistro-style tables with umbrellas and lovely open spaces to relax and enjoy the scenery. They also offer additional experiences like guided tours and special picnic events if you want a more structured visit. I spent about two hours there and left feeling relaxed, inspired, and genuinely happy. Acres of blooms in shades from coral to deep fuchsia to soft pinks and whites--it's a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. If you enjoy flowers, gardening, photography, or simply peaceful outdoor experiences, make the trip. It's a lovely destination, and one I'll happily return to again.

There are also often crafts and other items for sale as well, I got the cutest handmade scarf for fall while I was there. For those in the know, they also sell collector rocks, minerals, and seashells too! I know I am raving, but I love quaint places like this, especially because their prices are so good. PLEASE NOTE As this is a Mom and Pop operation it is best to call, email, or facebook before going if you are driving a long way. They are a little ways out there, but it is hard to miss all the day lilies in bloom when you drive past! They ship their flowers all around the US too, which I like as I can send them as gifts.
