This happened about a dozen years ago. I was in Elkins for Blues and Swing Week and had a nasty leg infection and probably a urinary tract infection. Went to the emergency room and they missed that my blood pressure had dropped to something like 95 over 75* and that my kidneys had shut down. Despite my fever, they recommended that I drive back to Washington DC, in the morning. . Twice while driving my vision started to fail and I had to pull over and rest. i should have gone directly to an emergency room but instead I went to my doctor the following morning. Took her 1 minute to pack me off to a real hospital. It took a week to stabilize me and then a month of rehab. I was told I almost lost my kidneys. Getting treated 24 hours sooner would have been a very good thing. (* They did get a reading like that but took a second reading after pumping in so much air that I was in great pain and the numbers shot to 200 over 110. Kidneys? I couldn't pee and hadn't for hours.) read more

my Mom and I had a very bad experience that happened this morning. As I was walking in to help her an older lady fell and hit her head it took two regular people aka not nurses or drs or security to help her get into a wheelchair. Little lone, my ex-security and co self kicked into gear and I yelled at the nurses and said, " Is anyone going to help her or call for help." I didn't have gloves or I would've. Instead no body helped, the two ladies who direct people just staired at me. another nurse was bringing a paper across when she looked up and no one and I repeat no one came nor called for help. Thank goodness for this random person who was a big guy to help her up. Kuddos to him! A regular person, not a Nurse or Dr., etc. From a regular person, y'all amaze me. This was the worse experience ever and for my Mom who just got out of surgery to experience. Thank God my kids wasn't their to see it or I would've really went off. I immediately hollard at the nurses, the receptionist downstairs and asked, " Is anyone going to come and help this lady?" Instead they all staired and did nothing! That pissed me off, Did it for me. I will never do business with this hospital anymore unless I absolutely have to. This is totally unbel and unacceptable! Thanks to them, it caused me to have PTSD memories. Way to go! I hope someone will call me back. I called the RN lady to complain. Now the complaint is on here! Hope you all go home at the end of the day knowing a little old lady got hurt and no one helped. We moved to WV 6 years ago, and until recently I haven't needed much health care. And then things crashed. It took 3 tries to find a gynecologist I trusted - thank you to Davis for Dr. Sellers and the staff in the women's care unit. Every phone call I've made has been treated with kindness. Appointments are thorough and Dr. Sellers takes the time to review tests and explain what is going on. The team in the women's care unit made me feel well cared for from appointments, to nurses hotline, to the doctor himself. I had to have surgery and every single person in the day surgery unit was professional and caring. I also had to have 5 weeks of iron infusions in that unit and each of the staff was great and made the entire experience wonderful. read more

I have had nothing but poor experiences with this hospital, but what finally cinched it was today.I called about my brother who had been in surgery almost a week ago, and told he could go home the next day. Since the end of the bloody surgery, they moved the goalposts every time he asked to go home. From one ridiculous thing to the next, they have made it clear they don't care about him as a person. To top it all off, apparently his IV had been leaking for TWO DAYS and no one thought to look, or check the IVs. Because of that he has now developed an infection, requiring even MORE time in the hospital. They have also developed a COVID policy that only one person may visit every five days, and when told of my brothers declining mental state due to his fear of hospitals and being alone, decided there wasn't any room for exception, despite the offer of a fresh covid test. When I called to talk to a supervisor about it, and told them that they should care about their patients more than a policy that is doing harm to my brother, they hung up on me after telling me they didn't appreciate my tone. Trying to call administration about this issue has resulted in constant voicemail and no call backs. I honestly believe they've been keeping him there for more money from Medicaid, and will be filing complaints as such, and looking into someone to take a malpractice case since they refuse to think of their patients welfare. I'd rather bleed out then go to this hospital, and will be advising anyone who will listen that you'd be better going to a backwoods quack practicing medicine out of a trailer than relying on these incompetent butchers to do their job right. read more

The best hospital around in my opinion! The staff is always on top of everything with me. I had a baby there 2 months ago and I LOVED my team in OB. Also had 2 previous surgeries there and they always treated me with respect and provided CARE! read more

Horrible. Doctors barely know what they are doing, horrible waiting time, bad service, and the attitude of some of the Doctors there is bad.

In October 2018, I went to Davis with dizziness and chest pain. Was met at ER by some super people. Care was great; Dr. Hummer was understanding and helpful, explaining all that was going to happen. An overnight stay and a stress test next morning. All went well and discharged next day. Then came the fiasco with billing department. It has been over a year, and I am on the verge of being turned into collection. I have 3 health insurances, none of whom have been billed! Had my doubts when a lady in billing wanted an address for Medicare. This is December 2019. Just received a notice to stop ignoring them or I would be turned into collection. It has been over a year. All this since calling them at least twice a month since last January. The last individual I spoke with assured me I would not be turned into collection as he could see I had plenty of insurance. I have probably talked to everyone at dial 2 at an 800 number. Don't know who does their billing, but someone needs to be doing their job!!! read more

Went here in extreme pain last night. Waited 3 hours and never saw a doc. Finally left to go home and sleep in my own bed when I started to feel better. If you are in pain, go to another hospital, it is worth the drive. read more

Could not of had a better experience, Dr. Matt Lambert was kind, thoughtful, courteous,and thorough the nurses and X-Ray tech's were great. He nor the nurses made you feel rushed, they took time to explain what was going on and explained test result. Kindness goes along way. Thank you for your great care.. read more

Our daughter got a deep gash beside her eye and we ended up taking her the emergency room at Davis Memorial last night. They checked us in very quickly. They took my daughters vitals and were friendly and patient even with all her toddler wiggles. We were quickly taken back to a room where we met Nick, a Physicians Assistant. He was gentle and compassionate. He gave us options and let us decide what was best for her treatment. The procedure was completed efficiently and carefully. My only suggestion for improvement is that when someone is in training (an medical assistant) there is someone already trained to step in just in case. Especially when dealing with a child. We were in an out in less than an hour total. Overall, great experience and highly recommend. Great job Nick! read more
