Just had my first appointment and cannot say enough great things about this facility. From my…read morefirst phone call to meeting the Doctor everything went smoothly. I was in serious pain and was seen on the same day I made the call, that in itself is amazing. Upon arrival, the staff was professional and very concerned about my condition. They listened closely as I described my ailment and told me everything that they were doing. When Dr. Blake came in I was very nervous and she recognized my heighten state. She took her time examining me and throughout the process she remained very calm and explained what she was doing. She gave me her diagnosis along with a follow-up treatment plan. The staff then proceeded to take care of all the follow-up appointments needed, from booking my MRI to calling my PCP to get prior approval. That has never happened to me with any other Doctor's office. Usually I'm the one making all the calls. I wish I could give Boston Pain Specialist a perfect 10 but 5 is the highest on Yelp. I totally recommend them if you are looking for caring and professional people.

The staff is wonderful, working in that environment is most often met with patients that are not on their best behavior, in pain who can be ? The staff always remains so optomistic. I gave birth to my second child at Winchester Hospital, and unfortunately, it was a very…read moredisappointing experience from start to finish. The biggest issue was the L&D & Mother/Baby unit after delivery. My newborn and I were placed in a room that was only 68 degrees. We were told there were no other rooms available, the solution was to give us extra blankets. We had to wait approximately 36 hours before we were moved to a room with an appropriate temperature. Recovering from childbirth while trying to care for a newborn in a cold room was incredibly stressful. I was also shocked by the cleanliness of the hospital. The postpartum room did not appear clean when we arrived. During my stay, the trash was not emptied daily, and the floors were never mopped. For a labor and delivery unit caring for mothers and newborns, I expected much better sanitation. While a few staff members were kind, my overall experience in both Labor & Delivery and the Mother/Baby unit did not meet the standard I expected. One experience that has stayed with me involved the nurse who introduced herself as Lindsey. She attempted to place my IV before my C-section and was unsuccessful after five attempts between both of my arms. At that point, I politely asked if someone else could try. Instead of responding with understanding, she appeared upset, gave me attitude, and slammed an item before leaving the room. It was an incredibly vulnerable moment for me, and I was shocked by how I felt I was treated. Even if a procedure is difficult, patients deserve compassion and professionalism, especially during childbirth.

She just has such a loving presence. We had a great chat at the beginning, a hands-on Reiki session and a nice debriefing at the end. She did not pressure me at all to come back, but assured me that we could do more work if I was up for it. I highly recommend her to anyone. Interested in having energy work done. This was a great first experience with a Reiki.

So, I'm a Skeptic…read more Just that kinda person. I generally don't like medicine that I can't trace back to anatomical reality (I get exasperated talking about Chi and other untestable, unmeasurable concepts). So I obviously didn't go to Acupuncture to get my chakrahs back into balance or anything like that. I have a pretty nasty back injury that gave me a fair amount of pain and tough ciatica (look it up). I've been doing PT, and I've been healing quite nicely (I'm not going ton a "Western Medicine is Useless!" rant today), but I'm not a very patient person. I wanted to see if I could do some pain management beyond medication, for obvious reasons. I went to see Lisa because my mother's friends (who are much more... spiritually oriented) have given me sufficient anecdotes that I decided I'd give it a try. Anyway, disclaimer aside. I enjoyed the visit. Lisa is a grounded, rational person that actually talks about medicine and the body. There's a little bit of "energy flow" stuff going on that I managed to not get frustrated about--in short, at the end of the conversation I was pretty convinced she knew what she was talking about. Then with the needles. Afterwards, I felt significant improvement. I have a lot more relaxation in my back and leg, the ciatica's gone down. I'm walking around without a cane, which is a fair improvement. I'm quite pleased with the treatment. Over the next few days, I'll be updating as to my progress. I'd recommend Lisa for an alternative approach to pain management stress, musculoskeletal or nervous problems, definitely. I will continue to hold out on the mystical cancer-healing powers of heat lamps and small needles until I've seen better science on the topic.
