We had to recently take our son to Emergency Room for bad stomach pain. Checking in was easy but…read moreonce in the room that is when communication was so poor. Our room showed a board with who was the nurse, tech and doctor. There was a TV to entertain young patients. They offered us coffee and juice. Coffee was colored brown water but the juice was ok. It was the thought that counts. That was great to know something to drink was offered if we needed it. Our whole family got a bit restless with this overall visit. It was a bit strange to get in a room and kind of be forgotten . Our son was a warrior despite the lack of communication with the medical team. The board meant nothing if no one talked to. All it was some decoration that give families of these children false impressions. And it angered me that my son was not even offered a blanket. Next time, I will definitely bring my son's favorite blanket with him. It is cold in this hospital! Overall we are glad it was nothing serious with our youngest son. He was ok and just needed rest. We were glad to go home including him. Unfortunately in our area this is the only hospital for children. This experience was not very bad or good either. I grade it a D+. I guess it was good to have somewhere to take our child. If I can leave some tips, it would be to communicate with family better and check in on the patient more. We had to advocate for our child to get things going. My guess is everyone is focused on this new hospital getting built. It is just basically an extension of Tacoma General that serves children. It is a better part of hospital. Grownups room in ER is not that nice and care is more substantial. So glad it is a bit different. I look forward to the opening of the new hospital. Hopefully care will be more quality and more geared toward children. This was definitely not child friendly.

She was always on top of everything, checked in on me consistently, and made sure nothing slipped through the cracks. You can tell she truly cares about the people she works with -- it showed in every interaction. Ray made a stressful time feel a lot more manageable, and I'm really grateful for the support she gave me. She deserves to be recognized for the way she shows up for her patients, and I hope she's considered for whatever awards or acknowledgments the hospital offers. She's a standout

They offered many amenities, including toiletries, food, in-room refrigerators for breastmilk storage (or anything else you might need), televisions, comfortable beds, and the use of computers or printers , Many lounge areas to communicate with other parents going through the same If you need a place to take your mind off the situation your child is in, they have a full kitchen with plenty of extra food in their pantry. This is especially helpful in case you find yourself in an emergency situation and didn't bring food. Additionally, many times throughout the week, they have restaurants that cater meals. If I could give this 20 million stars, I would.

MultiCare service provides their critical care families with a wonderful option of staying nearby…read morethe hospital at the "Tree House". The facility is absolutely wonderful and a true service for those who require this. There are 40 sparsely furnished, but adequate apartments each with a full bath, kitchenette, beds, armoire, a flat screen with cable and a recliner with side tables and lamps. Bare necessities that become home to the many individuals needing support or the comfort of proximity while staying in the hospital or with a loved one there. This is like a "Ronald McDonald" house provided by the hospital service. The facility has 24 hour staff on site with security who also provide transportation services to the hospital walking distance away. There is a massive food preparation area with six separate and equally functioning prep stations including everything yould need to make a meal. Various volunteer and charitable organizations donate time, energy, food and supplies to the Tree House and others come in to cook meals for all tenants available to come. Their service is unforgettable. The facility has a full laundry, a library and media area and for the children there is a fun toy and play area. The staff is great. The setup is appropriate and very generous. The many charities that come are wonderful. This is one of the hidden treasures that a thoughtful service provider has created.
