    Spicy boudin Kolache
    Amber S.

Dawns donuts are amazing. I am here visiting my fiancé while he is working. I found this place on google because it was a 4 min walk from the hotel I was staying in. When I walked in I was greeted by the nicest people. They helped me right away. I got the spicy boudin Kolache, jalapeño sausage and cheese Kolache and some donuts all were absolutely delicious and fresh. The lady behind the counter asked where I was from and I told her I was visiting and staying in a hotel. She then gave me a free donut in hopes I enjoyed them. The customer service was outstanding and I will definitely be back.

    Man these smell good

Hungry and on my way home from a 12 hr night shift . In a dark strip center Dawn Donuts was the only place open and it was lit up brightly. It was like a Kolache lighthouse guiding me in from the dark. inside the family running the place is the friendliest around. They are super busy running around serving customers yet they never quit smiling and you feel so welcome. I have only tried the typical Kolaches offerings(sausage and cheese, Sausage cheese jalapeno, and ham and cheese) These however were so delicious. Very fluffy and light dough with a medium level of sweetness. Very fresh you can tell. The sausage is typical and the ham the same but nothing wrong with that. The prices are also very resonable. They have other kolaches, tacos, breakfast sandwiches, Donuts, ect. All look delicious so I will report back once I have tried them. Yes I will be back guided in by this bright beacon.

So glad I stumbled upon this place. First of all the food is delicious. Spicy boudain kolache was well seasoned and delicious. The sausage, cheese jalapeño kolache was also tasty. I enjoyed the Asian bbq kolache as well. The donut holes are affordable like most places. The coffee was hot and fresh. And the Vietnamese coffee was to die for. It had a delicious almost nutty flavor that I liked. There weren't anymore bacon croissant sandwiches so the owner I think offered to make me one fresh. Absolutely outstanding service. So bubbly and friendly.

Omg this bacon, egg and cheese croissant was the bomb!

I just love this place! I always stop here for breakfast when I work down here. It's a small owner run establishment. Everything I've tasted here tastes good and you are in and out quick! The owner is so nice and cares about her customers. She has a bubbly personality which makes your day in the morning! The place is very clean and quiet. It's in a small strip center behind the burger King and it has plenty of parking. If you are ever in the LaPorte area you should sign l definitely stop by for breakfast!

    These are AMAZING!!!

My family and I come in once a week for breakfast, we've tried nearly everything they have to offer. That said, everything here is delicious! From their croissants to their fritters! The family that runs the little shop is always smiling and friendly.

I picked the Italian Cream, and OH MY GOOOODDDDDNESSS, this might have been one of the best cupcakes I have every had (and I have had way too many cupcakes in my lifetime). But, I was surprised to see they have more than these sweet treats. That should have been obvious because of all the savory smells when I walked in (although a little confusing in a cupcake shop). They offer chicken salad, both as a sandwich or in a small container. But there is so much more than that. They offer grab & go meals that I believe change daily; some examples that we saw on the board that day - bacon fried cabbage with sausage, creamy chicken Alfredo tortellini soup, poblano southwest pimiento cheese, Chicken and Dumplings, Homemade Chicken Spaghetti, and several other options. There are also keto options available. Tried both the original and the Harvest Chicken Salad. The Harvest mix was excellent, will get it again. But the original was meh for me, I just didn't enjoy it. So my hint is, ask if you can sample it before you buy one of the chicken salads so you can find the ones that are best for you. And, do NOT leave without a cupcake - you will thank me later.

She was quick with our drinks and let us look at the menu for a few more minutes. Mom had the Green Tomato BLT, the Missus had the club sammich. But enough about their meals ... I want to review my meal. Their menu lists that the burger is on a brioche bun ... check that one off of the item list. A hearty patty is also placed inside of the bun and along with it are pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato. Check and double Check. Mayo is slathered on the buns, at just the right amounts that make it taste good, but not so much that it slides the innards of the burger all over the place making the chomping experience mushy. Flavors were good, I had just hoped the patty fit the bun a little better. The ratio was a bit more bun sided than oatty sided. My fries, crinkle cut, were seasoned well. Well enough that no ketchup was needed to dip them into for additional flavor. I would have liked a bit more crispiness from a double fry, but these were toothy enough to get a decent mouth feel. The meal for the three of is was about 47.00, so inflation has also hit my hometown dining places as bad as they have hit my current home near The Woodlands. Will i return to eat there the next time I visit Mom? If she wants to go, then yes, yes I would. I would also hit it alone just for their chicken fried steak or chicken. Ciao, Darrell

Let me preface this review by stating that I have been to this establishment multiple times & had…read moreglowing, amazing service each time. However, my last experience with this establishment left a horrible taste in my mouth. Therefore, I am giving them an extra star for the previous experiences. On May 17th, 2026, my best friend and I had been looking forward to coming to Water Oak all day and had our taste buds set for the occasion. We were famished and had quite a day up until arriving. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very briefly greeted by the a Hispanic man who I assume is the manager and told that they were "no longer seating for the day". I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.
