We are all collegiate students, with little credit and housing background, so we were very discouraged! Renae lifted our spirits! They offer assistance for college students that goes above any beyond expectations! We didn't even need a co-signer. Our move in date was pushed back a few days due to a few maintenance issues, but that wasn't a biggie. We have a 3br, 2ba apartment, and it's gorgeous. The pictures doesn't give justice. It's very spacious and modern. The walls are more of a grayish tone, as oppose to white, which I absolutely loved. The closets are spacious in all rooms, with double closets in the master. The walls are a bit thin. I can hear the neighbored conversation, depending on their tone. Our upstairs occupants...you can hear them. And it's not just a walking (ascending or descending) pattern. Like, they're TURNT sometimes just THUMPING all through the day. I must admit, we never reported it because we kinda figured out by the noise that they had kids. The apartment management takes pest control and mold very seriously. They take the smell of marijuana seriously too!! Good because our parents come to visit! Maintenance request are responded to the same or next day, literally. Now, I had one issue with maintenance. Our keys just decided not to unlock our door! I couldn't turn my key at all, so I called the emergency hotline. Well, they told me I would've had to call a locksmith because the issue was NOT AN EMERGENCY! I mean...it's dark outside and my key, NOR my roommates key would unlock the door, but that's not an emergency. Well. THEIR key didn't even unlock the door. Smh. And a representative at the office CONFIRMED with me that the issue was, in fact, an emergency because we didn't lose our key. The issues keys didn't work anymore. Plus, we had that SAME door lock maintenance maybe a month before this. We had to fight with the door and lock to get it open. I was just shocked and dumbfounded because I had to find somewhere to go for a little bit. Nobody had funds for a locksmith at that moment. Secondly, some new representatives overlooked our Pet Fee payment. I understand technological issues, but the note was urgent for the money or for our pet to be gone, so I was a little irritated. Still, I got my money order receipt and marched to the office. One rep prints out our entire payment statement, puts it in front of me, and says "Now, if you can find it on there, show me because I can't find it". I looked on the first sheet..BAM! $250 payment with matching money order numbers. "There it is right there ma'am" :) . Situation solved. Despite this petty situations, this is a great place to live. The community is multicultural, people pick up after their pets (for the most part), the grass is maintenance periodically, the neighbors are friendly and mind their own. It's really a great location and place. And the fireplace works!

We moved to The Hills at Oakwood from out of state. We chose it mainly because we were in a rush to find a place and the school, Harrison Elementary(which I also love), had a good rating. The complex is quiet and I always felt safe there. The grounds are beautiful - lots of green space and big beautiful trees and sidewalks throughout. The apartment was very clean and freshly painted when I moved in. Never had issues with bugs (they have pest control service.) Water is paid for by the company. Every "section" of the complex has its own trash dumpster so you never have to go more than a few steps to dump your trash. You have covered/assigned parking right by your apartment door. Maintenance requests are handled quickly. Most of my neighbors were very quiet and nice. I had planned to stay there for a long time but a family emergency required me to move back to GA. If I have the opportunity to move back to Chattanooga, I would move back there. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because although I left my apartment very clean, I never got my deposit back. I also had to pay a non-refundable pet fee of $500 which I think is too much. You also have to pay a $20 "convenience" fee if you pay your rent online. $4 or $5 I could understand...but $20?
