Clinton didn't have very many lodging options, especially being last minute, for our overnight trip. We should've spent $10 more and gone to the Comfort Inn instead. Don't waste your money. Water smelled of straight chlorine to the point where I was afraid to brush my teeth or take a shower. Being a last minute reservation they only had smoking rooms left. As a smoker, I normally don't stay in smoking rooms because of the lingering smell, but I will if I have to. Normally, it doesn't bother me, but the air wouldn't stay on to keep the air moving unless we kept it at 60 degrees! And the blankets were questionable as to whether or not they had been washed/changed, so it was a freezing night for us, to say the least. Carpet was stained and covered in burns. It looked like Days Inn bought an old nasty crack house and put new furniture, a coat of paint on ONE wall, and new bedspreads to cover up the fact they they are way past due for renovations. Pool was only open until 9PM, never stayed anywhere the pool wasn't open until 10PM. When I commented to the manager about how it wasn't worth $100, it was maybe a $50 room, he said that was because I'd booked online, if I had called the hotel itself it would've been $30 less. Then comp me the $30, because your hotel is disgusting. Did I mention the door wouldn't latch?! If it weren't for the extra lock on the top of the door, anyone could've come in our room. And I mean anyone. Witnessed the departure of an affair, a prostitute trying to make a sale, someone rolling a blunt in the parking lot to smoke, and people who clearly lived at the hotel. Also, in the morning, I saw house keeping go in a room (no cart or anything) and a few minutes later came out with only dirty towels. Didn't change the sheets?? If this hotel came with a $50 price tag, it would've gotten 3 stars from me. But after paying $100 for the experience I had, I cannot give it more than one star. read more

Upon answering the phone nothing but ATTITUDE from the start. The employee decided it made sense to talk over me while asking my questions about future reservations so he couldn't have possibly heard what was said. Again continuing with attitude - I asked to speak with someone else or a manger and he hung up. Very disrespectful. read more

This hotel was a welcome oasis at 2 in the morning on our drive back home from Wrightsville Beach. We would have stayed in Wrightsville or Wilmington but the hotels there were completely booked. The drive from the coast to the Triangle has extremely sparse hotel offerings and after we checked out a few motels that could contend for Creepiest Bates-Like Motel Experience, we were relieved to find this clean and affordable hotel with extremely comfortable beds, breakfast included, and all that you need for a good night's sleep. It is an oasis in the desert that is sadly that section of North Carolina. read more
