Day1: housekeeping did nothing at all. Day 2: When I was leaving for the day, housekeeping asked if I wanted my room cleaned. I told her "yes, please". She took the towels but cleaned nothing. Didn't clean the floor, didn't empty the trash; nothing. Just changed the towels. Room is gross. Don't stay here, but if you do, bring shower shoes, and house shoes.

I was skeptical to stay at this property after reading the reviews, but decided to stay anyway since it was the best price in the area. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a smile from the friendly front desk clerk. The check in process was quick . I was in and out in less than 5 minutes which i loved (i booked my hotel online). When i got to my room, it was amazingly clean! The wooden floors were shiny - I was able to walk barefoot on the floor and my feet were NOT dirty. The bedsheets were bright white, smelled fresh and clean, the bathroom was spotless. I was very impressed! Oh, and there was NO roaches. The fridge and microwave was spic & span. Not a trace of dirt! I was very comfortable staying here with my family . When i called the front desk for more towels, they were delivered to me in less than 3 minutes. I asked for 2, and received 3. The sweet girl at the front desk (i think it was Tiffany or Amanda (sorry, i can't think of her name) personally delivered them to me herself (the date was 4/2/22 between 9am - 10am, and she deserves a raise. Her customer service was remarkable!) If you travel, you know how hard it is to get towels delivered to you in a timely fashion. This was huge to me! I give this hotel 5 stars. I would definitely stay here again. The only negative comment would be the lobby coffee. Yuck!

I first spoke with General Manager Mary Williams, who told me the rooms were available, confirmed that we could receive the government rate, and explained that each room would be reserved independently because of the veterans' status. She then transferred me to the front desk to complete the reservations. I spoke with Janiya Johnson for approximately 34 minutes while she processed the reservations. During that call, she contradicted the General Manager and stated the rooms would instead be reserved as a group. Despite the inconsistency, she assured me that all 14 rooms had been successfully reserved and told me she sent the confirmations. Based on that information, I informed my family that the rooms were secured. Nearly two hours later, Janiya Johnson called me back and stated that while she was reserving my rooms, another manager was simultaneously booking rooms for a different group, and the hotel was now sold out. I reminded her that she had already confirmed all 14 rooms were reserved and had sent confirmations. When I reviewed the confirmations, they reflected only four rooms -- not the 14 rooms she explicitly stated had been booked. When I questioned the discrepancy and requested to speak with a manager, the call was disconnected. A few minutes later, Mary Williams called and claimed there had been a "misunderstanding." She stated that if I had confirmations for all the rooms, the hotel would honor them, but that the hotel was sold out. This directly contradicted the information she originally provided when she told me the rooms were available and transferred me to complete the reservations. The entire experience reflected poor communication, lack of coordination between staff, contradictory information from management and front desk personnel, and extremely unprofessional customer service. Most disappointing was that this confusion affected a large family group that included veterans who were traveling based on assurances from hotel staff that accommodations had been secured. I understand mistakes happen. What is unacceptable is giving customers conflicting information, confirming reservations that apparently do not exist, and then failing to take accountability when the error is discovered.

They have two restaurants to choose from; lobby and an after hours rooftop experience for those looking for a little something extra. It too was beautiful. However, I would be amiss if I didn't share my food experience at The Staple Restaurant in the lobby for breakfast a couple of times. I happened to meet the chef "Rico" while I was waiting for my espresso one morning. Such a nice guy with a humble personality. He encouraged me to try his homemade biscuits he made fresh daily. So, on one occasion (after seeing a colleague order this), I tried the Handheld Fried Chicken Biscuit and hash browns with hot honey sauce on the side. The homemade biscuits that this chef makes will make you swoon as your eyes roll back in your head--just the right texture, light, buttery, and hot; what a combination. The problem (depending on who you ask) is that it's hard to eat just one. I watched, with humor, one morning as a baby (around one year old) held one of the chef's biscuits in his tiny hands and tried to stuff the whole thing (as they do) into his mouth. He eventually realized that it was not going to work. So, he broke off small sections and devoured that biscuit; it was so funny to watch. On another occasion, the chef happened to see me and encouraged me to try the biscuit and gravy. Wow, the sauce he makes to go on top is downright "good eating". Another thing I appreciate is that the restaurant knows how to properly cook bacon as opposed to serving it half-cooked; yuck and yikes. It's always crisp and tasteful to the palate. Lastly, the handheld chicken biscuit is not for the faint of heart. The chicken is cooked to perfection along with the biscuit, hash browns, and hot honey sauce on the side. Make your way there if you have not been. You will message me and thank me for the great food, atmosphere, and southern hospitality of the staff along with an amazing hotel stay.

When it came to service however, it was severely lacking. Slow, understaffed and rude. I like to look at how a restaurant or bar's higher staff treat their employees. Bar Fontaine's managing staff should be VERY ashamed. I heard management tell off a server and bartender for making a very basic mistake and when I asked them how they liked working there, they simply replied "if I could do it over I would." According to them, the management is super nice to the customers but not to the employees constantly starting drama and making it difficult for an employee to keep their job. The head chef is also apparently a real a-hole and says inappropriate suggestive comments to their female staff as well, the server was telling me. When I was walking out of the hotel on the last day of my stay I encountered one of the managers and talked to them to see how they would treat me. It was an older woman with glasses. She treated me like an old friend which normally I would have enjoyed but this time I was absolutely disgusted. Just from what I was told, I will not be giving service to them again and will not stay at the hotel.

The front desk staff, the evening I checked in, was absolutely cheerful and informative about the small town. The young lady was very knowledgeable and efficient. I really enjoyed my interactions with the ladies in housekeeping too. I don't remember the name of the woman who checked in on me at the pool. She made sure my room was up to par and that I was enjoying my stay. I was interested in her story about her time at the hotel and her daily commitment to get to work each day although she had to walk. She was super pleasant. The room was big enough for a family of four and I really wished that my daughter had been there with me. She would've really enjoyed the space and comfort of the room. The room was clean. I literally don't have a single complaint about it. The sheets on the bed were freshly laundered and without stains. The bed was so comfortable that I had to sit in the deal chair while on the phone because I kept dozing off. Seriously! It was so quiet although there was a storm brewing outside. The carpet felt so soft beneath my feet. The fridge, coffee maker, and microwave were all in working order, clean, and ready for use. The towels, washcloths, and face cloths weren't dingy and were without stains and nearly rolled to fit in the cabinet. The bathtub was clean and the shower curtain didn't have any filth on it. The pool was really nice and was tucked on the side of the hotel. Easy access from the front of the building. I enjoyed an early swim before I had to take off. The breakfast room is located in the lobby of the hotel. A full continental breakfast is served every morning from 6-9. Fresh fruit, pastries, waffles, eggs, and sausage with coffee, tea, and juice available too. The hotel is located across the street from the mall. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem for the short term part time traveler. But for those unexpected travel with more things to haul, this can become a big problem especially if you're elderly or handicapped do you think someone at HG would take a look at Krista management once in a while to make sure they're doing your job right but it's pretty clear there's a little oversight.
