So we rented the charter boat to go fishing for my son's birthday. The boat was overcrowded…read moreoverbooked and we barely had room to fish, everyone kept getting their lines Tangled together. The thing that aggravated me the most was every time we stopped the captain and his dick hands decided they wanted to fish. We were already standing shoulder to shoulder so there really wasn't no room for them to fit in but they did, and they were trying to catch the barracuda. However they didn't catch the barracuda all they did was bring the barracuda up which ran all of our fish off. They were nice enough people but the captains are supposed to make sure that everyone is fishing and catching fish and when they're not catching they're supposed to move to another stop, our captain didn't do that because they were fishing. I've been on a few charters in my life, this one I will not be going back out on. We pretty much just fished around a bait ball! And they never changed our baits and got us fresh bait...my bait sat in front of us on the ledge of the boat in the sun til the became rock hard. We walked away w 4 fish between the 3 of us...and it cost $130! Nice people but if you want to catch fish I would suggest a different one.

Bathrooms and fishing docks are also available here. If you're kayaking, I suggest paddling southwest of the park for some better scenic and clam areas. The Halifax River can be quite busy with boat traffic BTW.

However, it's only $10 now that I have my own life jacket (saving me additional cost of $5 to use one of theirs, as required). Well worth the low cost for some soul-enriching, communing with nature. I have never made a reservation. I normally arrive around 10:30, most recently on a Friday. Parked for free on Baptist Camp Rd. Just a bit of a walk from there with my inflated paddleboard, but I don't mind the extra exercise. You can unload your stuff closer, if preferable. There are port-a-potties available. You can count on there being a line in the check-in office. Various recreation supplies are available there for purchase. The process moves reasonably enough. A reservation will guarantee your entrance, however, and possibly aide quicker personal info collection. I always plan to do the Emerald Cut in roughly 3 hours round-trip, allowing myself several stops to enjoy the surroundings. You do run into (quite literally at times) novice paddlers along the way, which can be a bit tricky, yet not a real nuisance for me. In general, there's friendliness along the waterway. Slighty rowdy, party vibes in some spots, but also opportunities for solace and zen in various nooks. Encountering wildlife, fragrant elderberry, and other captivating flora along this stretch is always gratifying. It's a popular recreation destination for good reason.

We were on the king mackerel early but when they stopped biting he was concerned that everyone in our group wasn't going to get a fish - so we moved about a half hour to troll a different reef and ended up getting everybody on the boat a good fish. Barracuda and more king mackerel. The boat is big - spacious and plenty of beanbags to lounge on while your making way to and from the fishing grounds. Back at the dock Paul was there to greet us and make sure the fish were cleaned and that we had a good trip. You can't go wrong with Bloodline. They are a great group of guys.

This couple took over an hour and half last night to set my family up with the PROPER gear! Bass Pro did not and truly set us up for failure. E&j ( the owners ) stayed over an hour past closing time to reload 4 reels with the proper line) and educate my kids on knot techniques, how to load hooks, fish in general and operate the reel! The selection of merchandise and quality of the gear is amazing. You can buy bait from anyone--Why? Support those that enrich our economy and treat all that visit them with respect and trueness. This family gave mine attention, education, and respect. For that, they have earned ours in return. Please visit them, give them one opportunity to win your business. Wow! Just wow! Captain Mike took us out for a five hour charter on Father's Day. In the first five…read moreminutes, we started hooking huge amberjacks. We caught our limit so quickly, so we switched gears and started trolling. We caught a huge barracuda, 2 1/2 bonita (something ate the other half as we reeled it in), and a king mackerel. We also caught a huge red snapper, which we weren't allowed to keep, but even that was amazing. It was a beautiful fish and he performed first aid on it before releasing it to guarantee its survival. Who does that? Respect! We actually called it. We had plenty of keeper fish, so he headed back in. Captain Mike fileted the fish we were keeping and even brought us to the restaurant next door (Boondockers) and asked them to cook our fish for us. The amberjacks were delicious! Thanks Capitan Mike for the best Father's Day ever!

We have brought 4 children each time to go out and Captain Mike caters to them like no other. We've been out on many other charters and Captain Mike smashes the competition 10 to none.
