Here now. Can't wait to leave. The beach and oceans are always very nice, Very clean pristine and refreshing. But I'm just gonna say it - I don't like the locals. The families and tourists are the only thing that keeps Daytona from looking like dirt. It's got allot of potential but it's caught in a catch 22. The area looks just like it did in the 1990's. The locals crowd is low class and disgusting. Homeless everywhere. Scum bag low lifers everywhere. Yes there are good people. But in my opinion they are outnumbered and becoming more so each year. I'm always worried about my expensive car being broken into. Going to dinner, stores, wherever always thinking I'm gonna come back to an empty spot. broken glass with $5,000 in equipment jacked. No fun. Twice I've observed hoodlums walked up, looked in the SUV, pulled on the handle, and walked away. Tonight a car followed me around the parking lot waiting for me park. When I got out and looked at the guy dead center (as if to say I know what you're up to) he called me an "a---hole" and drove off. Entire city is dependent on Nascar and Bike Week. The crowds are only getting greyer. I hate New York City with a passion - and there are so many New Yorker's here. Everything closes up early. Everything. No good open late places. Unless you're in the mood for a dive bar or Denny's and Dominos. No thanks. Call me arrogant. Call me spoiled. But Daytona isn't a place you want to live full time if you make an 80% + percentile income. I think certain areas MIGHT be good for raising kids. I know this makes no sense based on what I just said. What I mean is certain public schools etc. I was told they don't "bus in" students from the lousy schools like they do in CA. If you live there, your kids go to school there. No vouchers or busing - Yet. The beaches and oceans are amazing - and there are a few nice spots speckled throughout the city. I just don't like the locals. The place just feels off. Time warped. Dirty. Sleazy. I just doesn't have good vibrations. Can't explain it. The boardwalk is a joke and all these brick and morter passe shops selling "souvenirs" straight outta the 1980's. As if Daytona Beach is so great time of your life ... you must run out and buy "souvenirs". Souvenir shops everywhere. This isn't the 80's and 90's anymore idiots. What kind of obtuse moron opens a business selling the same thing as everyone else? Oh yea - when you're laundering money. That's right. Investors also opened a "Hard Rock Cafe" resort on the beach. PFFFFF. Stupid. What kind of investor would be stupid enough to do this? Come on man! Hard Rock is an old dead brand. That's 80's 90's brand. Even so - Why does Daytona need ANOTHER hotel when event numbers are down. Much less THAT kind of expensive bust. Idiots. ALLOT of cheap hussler's live in Daytona Beach - and if you've had any experience living in major metro areas - you will quickly see through these people like the dirty glass they are. They cannot get anything over on you - and this will piss them off. Just don't say anything. So unless you're an idiot - don't worry about being scammed by any businessman or individual you may encounter. These fools make me laugh. Scum bag businessmen - easy to see through. Dirty Fools. You would not last in Los Angeles. Not for 3 weeks. NOBODY would hire you or do business with you. Also you'll realize when dealing with the locals - when you ask them a question about something simple or complex they don't know the answer to (because they have lived in DB their entire lives and are generally stupid small minded ignorant people) they get offended - because get this - they don't know the answer to your question. You will know what I'm talking about when you come here. When someone asks me something I don't know about I say I don't know or ask questions and converse. I did not have good memories from this area growing up. Prices for rent/housing are absolutely absurd given the low service sector income level. The Realtors here are lazy and worthless! Certain areas are turning into a 3rd world countries as new (cough cough) people (ahem) come in. All you people from Ohio will see this when you come here. At least before it was safer and cleaner. I didn't like it - but it was far, far better. Went to the South Daytona Beville Road area after 18 years - did not even recognize it. Thought I landed in a Favela or something. This is the worst place for lifeguard ticket traps I have ever seen. Here is my story and you be the judge. ( mostly because I no longer trust our people in charge) We went to have a nice family day and I drove on the beach after PAYING MONEY, and went down to the front of the row of cars and went to pull in facing away from the ocean. I could not pull in because of the soft sand and pulled back around the line of cars to the rear and pulled in from the back side facing the ocean as were the other cars. I got out and made way to my extended family and up pulls a life guard in an SUV. He told me things such as I went the wrong way and he should give me a ticket but will not today but to beware in the future...NOW i should have said thanks for the belittling in front of my family but NO NOT ME. I said thanks for the info and said I saw no signs? No warning from the paying gate entrance on right of way or one way lanes?He got upset and towered over me trying to make me look like a criminal. He ten repeated what he said again and said let me explain this since I am from a backwards out of state place and not familiar with Daytona's laws. He will now proceed to try and educate me. I felt upset yelled and then my wife told me to walk away and calm down so I listened and walk towards the ocean and got about 100 feet away and as my family tried to speak to him he ignored them and yelled at my with an attitude saying that's right walk away. Now.... badge or no badge I will not be punked by no man. You want my respect you should give it as well. I earned it in my life. I was then told to go to my vehicle and get my registration and license that now I was getting a ticket because I walked back to him voicing my opinion . He brought this on not me. I told him after asking for his supervisor to show up that he could write all he wants I am not paying. I didn't pay the 265 dollar BS ticket either. I wrote and protested to the main man and was told he was just in writing the ticket and it will not be over turned. Now I went home (out of state) and said the hell with them . Now a bad credit score from the ticket being sold to a collection place. No license . And still being harassed by the bill collector. I felt this had to be told a people needed to be warned. These David Hasselholff wanna be's are very corrupt and be careful when visiting here from out of state with your loved ones. I pulled into the lifeguard headquarters to complain to the boss but I was stopped by a Swartzenager looking lifeguard in the parking lot asking if I needed help and I said yes and asked for directions and he asked why and I told him and he said oh ...yeah..I heard about you and was very intimidating and started looking in my rear windows . Not that it matters but yes I am white. The new America..ok to voice your opinion as long as the others have the same opinion. After my problem I see in the news this... June 2014 .. I don't see what any of these complainers are complaining about. The beach here is awesome! The water is crystal clear. The sand is clean and so smooth. It's perfect and I've been to Kauai and several Caribbean islands as well as up and down the Pacific Coast line and to other areas of Florida. You can watch little fish swim along the shore line that's how clear the water is. Weather as anywhere is always changing but I'm here at the end of June 1st of July and there isn't a nasty wind. Just a nice warm/hot ocean breeze. No homeless people either. Maybe people were being judgmental of what others look like? And although I personally don't care about social distancing everyone was naturally keeping to their personal space as you would before "social distancing". We boogie boarded and enjoyed it because there is a sand bar to stand on out in the ocean to wait for the big waves. So nice to know you and your kids are not having to tread water while waiting for that perfect wave. There are ice cream trucks and a food truck for those that want to purchase on the beach Normal prices. Love that there is a life guard also. I only saw the life guards doing their duty of watching the people in the ocean not policing people as stated in another review. People driving on the beach were behind all the sunbathers and smooth sand so that was not a big deal and awesome that you could take any vehicle if you wanted to. Sunblock here for sure needs reapplied at the recommended times on the bottles. Loved how clean and awesome this beach and the water is. Oh and did I mention the water is warm.... this is a great place. We are staying at the Nautilus Inn and it's great. Access to the beach is directly in front of the sunrise. All balconies can see the ocean. Well maintained. Kitchens in rooms lots of tables and chairs and lounge areas to relax in. Nice pool. read more

We come to Daytona Beach every chance we get and stay at resort (03) to (05) times a year. Great place for vacation if you know where and when to travel. If you want to enjoy your stay we suggest getting an ocean front room at one of the many Resorts and Spa's located on the main strip. These are fairly inexpensive but the cost may change depending on location and when you decide to travel. We definitely suggest doing a little research before selecting a place to stay because an ocean front room and ocean front view are not the same. The busiest time of year are normally "BIKE WEEK" & "SPRING BREAK". The worst time to visit... hurricane season! As long as you keep those things in mind, you should have the opportunity to make some beautiful memories. Equality Daytona Beach have NASCAR racing Motorcycle week Antique cars Daytona 500 Void of events for people of color Void of social events for black history Void of black restaurants Void of black culture events and implementation of social approvals of events on the beach. Void of freedom Park freedom in their own neighborhoods. There's no created art college events on mart Bethune college. All social activities have become null and void children and their parents. It's like they don't exist. Need to prepare people of color for the future. Create more events for the future of Young people. Stop having everything for just your own ethnicity, many other cultures live in Daytona Beach, why a time and place for them. Free events for all to showcase their talents. Donation required. Daytona charge everything even inner City Park, activities charge for cooking barbecue during bike week events. Daytona should give back to the community. read more

Daytona Beach, and the surrounding town have a distinctly post apocalyptic - Trump enthusiast feel to it. Clothes store fronts and those which appear close to it with collapsing façades seem to be the hallmark. There's a large number of bikers bars, all proclaiming that you're not allowed to bring weapons or wear gang regalia. Not really an appealing place to stay for lunch, and The general lack of appeal cut the day trip short. Giving one additional star because the city may have a great deal of appeal for aficionados of politically inflammatory tours T-shirts and large numbers of police driving early 2000s model police cruisers. read more

This is what I've been trying to tell the world.... "Put life jackets on your children in the ocean or any Waterway that has waves." I lost a loved one to a rip-current at pass-a-grille beach. don't swim near peers or Jetties. They can be swept out in ankle deep water. Educate them about Rip Current safety before you go to the beach.... It could save your life, their life or the lives of others! I believe it should be made into a law to be honest. Dirty ,people can't follow the rules with Windows down lights on when they drive on the beach, i see people with dogs, smoking pot,open glass alcohol bottles, not to mention the scumbags hanging out on the street .my advice don't vacation here . read more
