Ray and his team working the go-karts were phenomenal--attentive, professional, and focused on safety. They made sure every rider was properly buckled and settled before starting the race, and the whole operation ran like clockwork. Everyone we encountered throughout the day was welcoming, polite, and genuinely helpful. It was clear the team was more interested in creating a great experience for us than upselling, which we truly appreciated. It felt like we were getting real value, and that goes a long way. It's not huge but has a good variety of animals to learn about and see. There is one sand table activity for kids and a coloring area where your art work can be scanned and temporarily added to a little display. The touch ponds with the starfish and feeding the stingrays were fun for our kids. Some of the exhibit spaces could have been improved for children - they were too high for my kids to see into so parents prepare to do some heavy lifting. They could think about adding some step stools or some sort of mini stair system in certain areas to help improve viewing access for the littles. It's all one level and would be easy to navigate for anyone with mobility issues. Additional experiences include VR, mining, hold a baby alligator and stingray feeding. All come at an additional charge. The downside to this place was definitely the price tag. Military, law enforcement, Florida residents and seniors all offered a very minimal discount. Don't forget your various IDs because they're required for the discount. I told the abrasive cashier I didn't have my applicable ID and couldn't find a picture and she said "well it's only $1 discount". I was surprised she wouldn't take me on my word as a lot do these days, especially since it was "only $1". Not the best personality represented at the front desk. The gift shop is a good size and has all kinds of toys, clothing items, stuffed animals and a small area of books with some cute titles. Overall a good way to spend a couple of hours if you're willing to suck up the high prices. I'm glad we went today but can't say we'd be back if the prices aren't lowered...a bit of a one and done experience as it stands now.

On top of that, the rink is just not in great shape, as evidenced by: With what must have been close to a couple hundred people crammed into the building between parents and kids. One of the main doors to get into the rink area was marked as broken, and it caused a lot of issues trying to enter and exit, and confusion over whether both doors of the set were broken or just one, as the signage and cone was only on one of them. The entry to the ice itself is tiny and easily blocked by one person, let alone people also to exit the ice. Water was dripping from the rafters onto my skate bag. The rental skates are in BAD condition, like, I'm aware that rentals aren't good but most of these were nasty and should have been replaced already. And because of the massive crowd and gift tables from the parties there was basically no place to sit and put skates on. It was a couple of our kids' first time skating and I wish I'd have just taken them to one of the other rinks nearby, but I wanted to have access to a walker for any of them that wanted to use it. On that note, I purchased a walker rental but I was not given the correct color wristband to get one, so actually getting the walker was more challenging than it needed to be. For this..."experience", we paid a little more than $70. Maybe it's better on a weekday but I can't say I'm very excited to go back and see if that's true or not after the experience we had today. It kind of feels like we survived an incident rather than had a fun family outing.

The people hosting it said it was two hundred and fifty dollars for ten kids, so twenty-five dollars a head, not a terrible price, but I didn't think they gave a lot for the money. Pro.tip, if you go, remember that it is an ice skating rink, so it is chilly in there so bring a jacket.

It's been a number of years since I've spent a Saturday night at the races and boy does this dirt…read moretrack venue put on a show. After getting an invitation from a friend that races here to join his family and crew to attend this racing event I was beyond excited. Volusia Speedway Park is somewhat a step back in time for me and it lived up to my expectations in so many ways, the smell of alcohol from the winged sprint cars and racing fuel from the late models and modified UMP cars, the dirt slinging hot laps, the patriotic recognition of our veterans, the Star-Spangled Banner and Pledge of Allegiance to our great country recited by our youth, how could you be more proud that small town America still exist today as it has over the last few hundred years. This racetrack located just outside Barberville, Florida still attracts local fans and race teams from across the country. I was afforded the opportunity to watch all the events from the pit area and witness these racing teams mostly made up of family and friends prepare their cars for a night of racing up close. This track officially opened in 1968 and has gone through numerous transformations over the years it's been in operation and now host a 1/2 mile dirt track featuring the World of Outlaws series (both sprints and late models) and the UMP late model series, As well as the UMP Super DIRTcar Series (Both big-block and small block modified racing) and a 1/5 mile Kart track. It's great to know and see this family sport is alive and well in this corner of Volusia County, Florida and is a very competitive series and to say it's fun just doesn't do it justice. When you attend one of the events here it's impossible not to forget what's going on in the world today - this is definitely a place that you can check-out from the everyday stresses for a few hours and grab a cold beer, a burger or hotdog and have an enjoyable evening out. I think I have a renewed love for this sport after witnessing it live and will put this place on my list of fun things to do for sure...
