I visited this store so many times during my recent trip to Kennebunkport that the sales lady started to recognize it. This place is absolutely adorable! The name is great too. The little shop is filled with fun stuff... everything from greeting cards, to camping and travel accessories, to little doodads, and green products. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even let you browse for as long as you want without being pushy or annoying. Whats more, whenever your buy items from their Daytrip Society line, they make a donation to the local conservation trust. This is the perfect place to find a unique gift for a friend or (more importantly) a fun, functional item for yourself. I bought a silly but useful piggy flashlight that doesn't need any batteries! You pump the lever for a few seconds and the thing runs for over 10 minutes. I also got a cute Daytrip Society tote bag and some cute re-usable Baggu shopping bags. read more

The customer service at Daytrip Society is OUTSTANDING! I sent message to the store via Facebook to inquire about the Sea Bags totes that were in stock before I made the half hour drive to the store. Lucy responded very quickly with detailed descriptions of the totes that fit my inquiry... she even sent photos! I was so grateful for the help before I drove there to be disappointed. I drove to the store and purchased one of the bags that she sent photos of & was amazed by how many other totes were in stock! Unfortunately, the bag I purchased wasn't exactly what I thought I needed. I emailed Daytrip ASAP to inquire about the return policy & if I could ship the return since I live a distance from the store. They responded quickly & gave me multiple options for returning my bag! I also inquired about another tote in that email & they gave prices, shipping costs & sent a photo! I could not be more satisfied with the service from Daytrip Society. They have WONDERFUL, quality products (many made in Maine) and are willing to bend over backwards to make customers happy! THANK YOU, DAYTRIP! If I had to name ONE store that sums up my fun and eclectic taste, DAYTRIP SOCIETY is the only store that comes to mind. I can't drive into Kennebunkport without stopping into this little shop. I love how they have classic movies setup with sections of their merchandise almost like it was themed. They have great greeting cards as well. To sum it up the best way is, they had odd and end things. Plush, toys, journals, puzzles, purses, camping items, you name it. This is the only store worth entering in the tourist-trappy town. The inventory immediately feels coherent and well - edited for anthropologie ypes who are not against showering. The aesthetic is very nostalgic for bygone decades (lomo cams, lemon-peel baseballs), which isn't my thing because those bygone decades tend to also be extremely racist.. but for the people who like that stuff, this place is quite satisfactory. I would love to see more authentic looking things, though. There are so many amazing origami kits from Korea and Japan. Why bother with this overpriced 5-minute origami? read more

i love this place. All of their products are made from eco-friendly materials, and while they are a little pricey, it's nice to know what you're spending your money on. If you take a little time, you can definitely find some small treasures admit the higher priced items, and for those sail bags, I'll be back, once I save up some money. read more

Modern souvenir shop with gifts that you would not be ashamed to give your friends. I loved the updated Maine t-shirts and magnets that were not at all tacky. Lots of cute wallets and purses decorated with whales, lobsters, and Kennebunkport-y things. They also have another store around the corner that focuses on children. Also very cute! Certainly the most interesting (to my tastes) shop in Kennebunkport. Lots of random high-end designy goods that anyone with any taste in home and personal decor would love. I spotted some great bill holders from Jack Spade that were a little pricey at $120, but luckily for me I found them on Amazon for half that price. I can't say enough great things about the customer service! I had been in this store during a trip in June - went back and forth about a Sea Bag and left without it. I made a last minute decision to purchase but wasn't able to pay online as I wanted to use a gift card to pay for a portion. My mom, who was still in KBP offered to go to the store and ask if I could purchase over the phone using the gift card/credit card combination. Thanks to the awesome staff, I was able to pay right over the phone and my mom brought the bag home to me! They were so accommodating! A few weeks later, I noticed some discoloration on the white portion of the bag. I emailed asking if there was any way I could exchange the bag as it was less than 30 days since the purchase. In less than 12 hours I got a response from Kate along with a shipping label to return the bag for a replacement, no questions asked. I had the bag 3 days later and it was perfect. I'm so happy to have this bag! The whole team were a pleasure to work with - and I wanted everything in the store (as always)! I will absolutely continue to be a repeat customer! read more

This is a great store. Just enough variety without being overwhelming. Laid out really well. Totally up my alley. I've been looking for this handbag - or one like it - for so long that i had forgotten that i'd been trying to find it. i jumped with glee when i saw the price tag. The young lady working the till that day had a fantastic nautical whale tatoo on her shoulder. Great name, great goods, great logo. This is such a hip store in a pretty touristy area. You can find some great items for gifts (or for yourself if you're like me). Great variety, and not like any of the gaudy gift shops around Kennebunkport. Their cards are unique and definitely worth checking out. read more

This is a really fun store with, however everything is so ridiculously expensive. Years ago the shop had items that were affordable (I used to buy my wallets and purses/bags here). My greatest regret is that I did not have enough money to purchase everything in this store! My girlfriend and I were in Maine for a fall getaway weekend and stopped into the Daytrip Society with little idea about the store and its contents. What we found inside was incredible, and I literally had to pry my girlfriend out for my wallet's sake. The tiny but tidy shop was brimming with beautiful, clever, and stylish items ranging from notecards to map books, from tote bags to kid's games, and every nautical-themed houseware item one could dream up. We settled on buying a reasonably-priced moose ornament handcrafted from pinecones and twigs, and certainly plan on making this a stop on future trips to Kennebunkport! read more

This is such an awesome gift store. They've got a great selection of stuff that you never knew you needed. On a recent trip I purchased an awesome hat and a few gifts. There's a lot to look at and they carry a lot of unique brands that you won't find at the other stores in town. I love Kennebunkport but the shopping leaves a lot to be desired. There are endless trinket stores, t-shirt shops, and coastal-type artsy stores which do not appeal to me. This store gets me. I bought 6 solar Japanese lanterns (at 30 bucks apiece) in this store to bring home with me, after my summer in Maine. I have bought them before in this store, and also lots of other merchandise, because I thought it was a very cool store. Unfortunately I discarded the boxes so I could pack the lanterns in my suitcase. Just before leaving Maine, on a whim, I decided to make sure they work, since we live outside of the country. One of them did not work. I went all the way back to Kennebunkport to exchange it, on my last day of vacation, only to learn that the store does not exchange merchandise after 10 days, EVEN WHEN THE MERCHANDISE IS DEFECTIVE. The person behind the counter was not apologetic and did not even look at the (completely new and unused) lantern. I got the sense that he didn't believe me. I will never go back there. I was completely disgusted at the lack of customer service and the lack of integrity. read more
