I had just bought a house and needed the entire place to be painted before we moved in. I got a few estimates from different painters and I was impressed with Mike's knowledge and professionalism during the initial walk through to get an estimate. He had prefaced his visit saying that his company normally charges slightly more than others since he provides quality work. His price was very competitive and was actually the lowest bid we got. for the job itself, DBK did an awesome job, and I was surprised that there were about 6-7 guys working on the job for 3 days. all of the guys were pretty cool, and one even helped me change one of my door locks that was stuck. they fixed all of the nail pops and patched all of the holes in the walls that were there from the previous owner. they even removed a few wall mirrors and patched up behind them. overall I was quite impressed with the work that they did and my home looks really nice now. I would definitely recommend (and have recommended) DBK painting to everyone. read more

My husband and I recently bought a house and had delusions of grandeur about repainting it all ourselves, in addition to working full time, spending time with our 18-month-old, packing, and replacing floors in several rooms. You can guess where this is going. 3 weeks until moving day, and we only had 1.5 rooms done, and we were freaking out. Enter DBK. I found them off Yelp, and we decided to give them a shot. My husband gave Mike a call and explained our situation. Mike warned us that they were booked up with projects through November, but they might be able to fit us in (presumably because we were just a house and not some big commercial project). He came out the very next day to do a walk-through and estimate with us. This process was incredibly thorough. We had a very good idea of what we wanted -- we had colors picked out and paint actually purchased already, and we just wanted someone to do the job. This included cleaning the walls, patching holes, and in several rooms taking down decades-old wallpaper. For some context, our home is roughly 2200 sf, and we were asking them to paint roughly half of it before the end of the month. It took a couple days before we received the quote via email -- Mike apparently answers emails pretty late at night, so don't be alarmed like my husband was. He broke down the estimate by room at our request (we actually quoted a few other rooms that we ended up foregoing for the time being) and delineated exactly what was to be done in each room for an extremely reasonable price, particularly considering we were asking for this project to be done on very short notice. The guys were able to come in I believe 2 weeks after we got the estimate. We had 2 painters who did the entire thing. We left them a key that first morning, they did their thing all day for 3 days, returned the key on the last day, and went on their merry way. The place was SPOTLESS -- wouldn't have even know they were there. We did have the advantage of there being nothing in our house yet, but seriously, not a drop of paint on the floor or a smudge out of place. Absolutely wonderful, amazing job that totally got us out of a bind and saved us a world of trouble. I remember walking around afterwards and just marveling to myself, "Isn't it so amazing that WE don't have to do this?" Would definitely use again in a heartbeat and highly recommend to anyone else. read more

(Not to mention everything was left clean after the job was complete). We are so pleased, we will be hiring him back for more work - deck staining and more ... DBK painting exceeded my expectations on our exterior painting project. Mike gave us a clear quote including photos of some rotting wood repair needed and a price that was fair though not the lowest. His brothers Mark and Ray were excellent to work with and completed the job with high quality. Both were very knowledgeable and skilled in their craft. Mark led the team of painters and also completed some window caulking that I hadn't even realized was cracked and very much in need of repair. The painters were all courteous and friendly and did a great job including cleanup. Ray (a carpenter) repaired the rotting door frames beautifully and suggested a new door in one case where the labor to repair would have been more costly. The new door looks great and Ray returned to the job with additional parts to ensure the fit and seal were perfect. I would definitely recommend DBK painting and plan to use them again in the future. read more

Goes to show the lack of class of this company based on their response which is all slander. I had to stop them from starting to apply the stain as they had drop clothes all set up so there is no way they were going to sand first to remove the peeling stain as Mike indicates. I spoke to several neighbors and no one saw anyone power washing at the indicated time. I am sure that Mike pulled out of the painting bid because they realized that someone would actually be overseeing that they do the work properly as outlined in their contract and did not want to deal with that. Lastly, I tried to call the owner of the company no one answers to address the issues, if you want a company you cannot get a hold of....these are your guys! They talk a good game on yelp but it is all lip service! Do not use this company for any painting needs. We are glad that we found a reputable contractor to complete the work as well as additional painting needs for our association. PS DBK was the highest bid for painting the trim work and was never going to get the bid anyway. read more

I asked Mike to provide a budgetary quote for a home I was buying. The figures were again an estimate and after closing we did a walk through to have him see it first hand. Wallpaper is a nightmare and be cautious about your expectations and what the cost should be. Painters can't always be sure how easy it will come off much less when there are 3 layers in some areas. Long story short, the DBK team was some of the best guys I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Very accommodating given the various curve balls they ultimately found hiding beneath it all. These guys are neat, dedicated to their craft, and genuinely care about their customers and go above and beyond to ensure you are happy! Highly recommend and you will not be disappointed. Small paint job that become SO MUCH more. Paint, drywall, carpentry. My review is long overdue but great work and very happy! read more

Left a message at the beginning of the week and no call back. Not sure how they pick and choose who they call back, but DBK lost a good amount of business as I have close to a 3000 sq ft interior that needs painting along with a wrap around deck staining. I found a different company in Schaumburg who actually answers their phone/calls back and am extremely pleased with them. read more

Our great experience started with the owner, Mike, visiting our home to quote us on two bathrooms and the Trim/ ceiling in our family room. We liked him immediately: he was thorough in his explanation of what they would do and why he would pick certain finishes. He asked for a few days to put together a quote and delivered a comprehensive estimate on time. Mike was extremely responsive and was happy to answer all of our questions...and we had lot of them! We shopped around a bit to our have stairwell walls, a hallway and dining room painted. Some of the walls were pretty high, so we felt it was best left for professionals. Some of the companies did not respond to my e-mail (or contact form via their website). Or responded too late. Mike responded the following day and we quickly setup a walk through for estimate and booked a day. My wife felt very comfortable with Mike and his crew, since I couldn't take time off work. Mike was very easy to communicate with via phone and email. He was able to provide a detailed and accurate estimate for the work based on pictures emailed to him. He scheduled David and his crew for the work. David was extremely punctual and highly communicative. I used them for some simple patch and paint work and they were thorough, efficient and high quality. They even re-painted more wall than originally spec'ed without charging extra. My wife and I are extremely happy with the results from DBK! Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable from the start when we came to our home to provide an estimate. While he walked through our home with us we presented to him our thoughts and he was not afraid to share his opinions. His insight was very helpful as it allowed us to view and consider all options. He provided an estimate within a few days and the estimate was very detailed which was nice to see. Once we scheduled the work his crew arrived right on schedule and they explained everything prior to beginning the work. Ray and his crew were extremely nice and helpful during the entire process. They went over which color would go in each room, they put all there materials in one room in a neat and unobtrusive fashion, and were very much conscious to make their stay as easy on us as possible. My wife and I were not sure of the colors in two rooms and Ray and his crew stopped their work immediately so that we could take the time we needed to make the decision on the new colors. This also allowed us to minimize the expense of changing the colors as we had only one coat rather than two coats already applied. Ray was very helpful and even provided me his cell phone number to reach out to him later that evening with the updated colors. I reached out to Ray that evening and he and his crew were able to pick up the new paint the next morning in time to continue the job as scheduled. You can tell that Ray and his fellow painters really care about their body of work through the way he talked me through some of their techniques and reasons for doing things the way they did them. This was comforting and allowed my wife and me to know that we were getting a proper painting job. Mike also called the day after the color change to make sure we were happy with everything thus far and to check in on what we thought of his crew and their work. This was a nice touch as it showed that Mike was in contact with his crew and made sure that everyone was on the same page. The job was finished within the original allotted time even with the change in colors midway through. They also left the house extremely clean and made sure that all outlet covers, vent covers, etc. were put back in place properly. All in all the crew from DBK did an outstanding job. They were so nice while they were in our home for a few days and we are so happy with the level of work. Just about each and every individual that has stepped foot in our home since we had it painted has commented on how they love the work. Mike's crew did a great job all around. The edging was done extremely well (I'm no pro painter, though I do know how to paint a room and I will say the way they edged was outstanding). We have a LOT of trim work in our home and they did a great job of working with it and ensuring the paint looks flawless against it. This is without a doubt a job done extremely well.
