There have been a couple periods of time where I have missed several weeks of church and each time when I return I have never felt shame or guilt. My son and I have always been welcomed and it's always "how have you been!!" and not "where have you been." (This was my experience growing up in church). Essential has been our church home for 5 years. The message is always on point and the community aspect is amazing. They're the type of church where you can come as you are and you'll fit right in. Their youth program is phenomenal and our little ones really enjoy the eKids room. They offer a celebrate recovery (CR) program every Wednesday night. This program is for anyone who has a hurt, habit or hangup (which is everyone, let's be honest ‍) It's changed my life in so many ways. We can't say enough about this church. But God had led me to this church so I went. Immediately, my family was blessed by excellent Biblical teaching from Sunday School/Sunday Service and examples of authentic Christianity where people really love and take care of others. There are many volunteers who serve: in Sunday School teaching where I learn something new every week (even after 34 years of church!), in the Nursery to help share the responsibility, at a truly amazing youth center, talented musicians on the worship team, and in outreach, like the Beach Bucket, Homeland Disciples, and PIN ministry on-site. There is so much being done from this place, it is truly amazing. Even if we have to move, we will come back to Beach regularly, as it has become a home to us and part of our family. We need you too! Come to Sunday School at 10 am Sundays and service at 11 and hear what God is saying to His church. Share a hug, pray with a stranger and make a new friend! God is moving and His blessings abound!

I then toured the church, which has another smaller chapel and a sanctuary reflective of 1960's church architecture.

I noticed myself giving the "thats's right," "amen," and "c'mon now, preach" quite often, accompanied with appropriate head nod and hand clap ;) We missed the beginning part of the praise and worship, but from the closing Christmas song they did, I imagine it's wonderful. Full band with it's own brass session? Always appreciated. And the lead singer's voice was beautiful. The church houses a predominantly black congregation, although the atmosphere is unusually casual. A refreshing deviation from the "Sunday's Best" style accustomed to many of the black and southern churches I've been to in the past. Not that either is better - I just like my jeans and sneakers. The inside of the building mirrors something similar to a cross between a gym and an industrial building. Nothing you would call modern by any means, but definitely large enough to hold a good capacity of people. We sat in the balcony, which was a little bit of a drag because I had difficulty hearing at certain points in the sermon. Adding a few monitors upstairs could be an easy fix for this problem, however. And probably my main suggestion for improvement. All in all, I enjoyed my worship experience at C3 (as they call it). If and when I'm ever back visiting in Hampton for the weekend, I'll be sure to stop in again.

Since it's been a long 7 years working every Sunday, I have the liberty to finally join a church, and this is the church that chose me. I was extremely delighted to see how welcoming they are from the moment you enter their doors with the greeters and welcome signs to the moment you leave. The embrace that has been given is inexplicable. My second visit was on a "Maundy Thursday," which was amazing. Snacks and mini sandwiches were offered. They gave a few small gifts for attending if it was your first, second, or third visit. One of having a small bible and "Our Daily Bread" book. In their app, they offer activities and have events that you can participate in. These are support groups that can help you with relationships, cooking, marriage, health, crafts, and even fishing , etc. through prayer. Plenty of resources to be closer with our Lord and savior. The pastors deliver relatable worship services on different days or nights of the week. They also have Revival Kidz, where children can play and learn about God and Christ and are well watched. Baptisms are on the second Sunday of the month. With only having visited 3xs, there's so much more I have to learn. THIS is the community that I've been searching for. It feels like family and home here, and I can't wait to bring my son.
