I have been a member for 5-10 years, and I really like this bank. I have an account at another bank, and this one is much better. Better rates on CDs, easier to renew at CD (when it matures) at the same or best rate. It defaults to the best rate at the same term. My other bank moves you to a lower interest rate by default unless you go in. You don't have to wait long when you go into the bank in person for something, and everyone I've dealt with has been pleasant and competent. read more

And today I was insulted by being told lies regarding notices of policies being changes around cashiers checks. Furthermore the manager Michael Bogacz is absolutely incompetent and lacks many skills that a manager should have. As a member informing management the situation, he did nothing. I went to get a car loan, they run the number and they got me a weird answer. They say my car it's a commercial and that's make no sense because the dealership bought it from the auction and I trying to buy it from them and the guy who run the number? He's so weird his answers are short, and he treat me like an soldier then I came back to see a different person he went inside the room. I supposed to go in and talk to that person and when they called me to go inside I found the lady she's very aggressive already. read more

I've been a DCU member for five years and have had nothing but good things to say - DCU truly serves its customers, I can always reach a human on the phone who addresses my questions, service fees are practically nonexistent, charges through another bank's ATM machine are covered. When I called to request a new coupon book, they insisted that I give them my SSN over the phone. When I refused, they couldn't help me. I have tried giving my auto loan number, and they still wouldn't send me a coupon book. It's the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. read more

This bank branch is not customer caring. They have terrible attitudes. You now need an appointment to just go in the lobby according to sign on the door. Teller opened front door and starting asking what i wanted on the front side walk. Finally a manager told me i could come that one time without an appointment. They were unprofessional. read more

I applied for an auto loan with DCU due to the great rates they advertised. I provided all requested documents and I am the most qualified candidate a bank could wish to have. They denied me stating they couldn't verify my address and my identity. They never once reached out to me to request further documentation. I ended up going with Logix bank who approved me in a heartbeat with my 850 credit score. Something is not right at this bank and I would strongly recommend staying away from it. read more

This is a blanket review for DCU as a whole. I have been a member since 2006 first of all. Started out with just a checking account, then one of my first credit cards, then an auto loan. Disaster struck and I was falling behind on my bills. I overdrafted 3 times I believe but was maxed out on my card so ate the fees. This was ehhh 2012 I think. So that was taken away from me. My credit score at that time was 540 at its lowest. Ok people get into hard times right? They pride themselves on being a "neighborhood" institution. It's not the case. Fast forward.... 2018 I got another car loan thru them, a personal loan (all of which are paid off) and now have a credit score of 750 on a bad day. I ask why I don't have overdrafts coverage anymore? You were permanently barred from it is what I was told... Wha??? I'd like to speak to someone about that.... It's 2022 no one has ever spoken to me about it. Customer service limits what they say due to the being recorded part. Besides the point... I applied for the credit card increase and was denied based on escalating debt and an excessive amount of unsecured debt? Meanwhile I own a house hadn't missed or even been late on a payment since those issues previously. My income has went up substantially as well as length at current job. Went over to Capital One and they increased it THAT DAY. Went over to Citibank and same thing. I try to increase available credit not to use, but to grow what's available because it helps my score from what I've seen. Fast forward 2021. Sold the house, bought a different one. Didn't use DCU for mortgage services because well if I can't get a credit line increase?? Why in the heck would I want to attempt to secure a serious loan with you people? Waited until the post purchase hit to my credit fell off and now showing the usual 750. Paid off some debt with proceeds cool right? Apply yesterday for a credit card increase...... DENIED. SAME REASONS. Even though I owe much less than what I did before the sale. Dear DCU. I am actively shopping for a new institution. My length of membership has meant nothing over the years. My payment history, how many loans I've used you guys for means nothing. Your rubric for increasing credit lines is a bad joke and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this happen. Every other institution I have credit with knows that I'm a very low risk and deserve every cent they've extended to me. Credit unions used to be rare but are now a dime a dozen. I'll go somewhere that I'm appreciated. It's NOT with you folks. Moral of the story: As rare as it is, go somewhere you're appreciated. We all fall on hard times at one point or another. I got a car loan from them maybe 5 years ago, great rate and service. Paid that off and got another car loan a year ago. The rate was higher than earlier but OK. A month or so ago they had a system changeover and my car payment was not withdrawn--as set up--from my checking account. Late fee (finally rescinded), but trying to contact a person through their automated system is a nightmare. Call would cut off, auto call back would put you back in the queue, no call back, etc. When I did talk to someone they were helpful but it took literally hours of hassle. I re-financed at a local credit union for nearly half of the DCU rate and am cancelling my DCU account. read more

Ultimately disappointing. I recently applied for a loan so I could transfer another personal loan and get a lower interest rate. After pulling my credit and making a phone call the associate plainly said I was approved and told me the maximum amount. He even said I had 45 days to decide on whether to take the offer. Then the very next day at another branch I was told the loan was actually denied. When I tried to call customer service to complain, they were very dismissive and refused to own the mistake. I know for a fact he mistakenly said I was approved because I've done a lot of loans before - I know the process. When I tried to get through to the clerk who originally handled my application he wouldn't even talk to me directly, instead going through the rep to tell me it still wasn't his fault. I was pissed that I waited all that time and they got my hopes up only to be shut down. My advice - never apply here for a loan as they are very stingy. I almost had a 700 credit score and only wanted the loan so I could transfer my debt and lower the interest rate, but that didn't matter - what is the point of getting a consolidation loan if you have to be DEBT FREE before you apply? They had me waiting for a good hour, and now I'm currently being helped but no one knows what the heck they're doing. I just got left again so the person helping me could go talk to the manager. This review is for the online DCU. I am not close enough to use a branch. But I have never received fast support here. The online chat for me has been very slow and not informative. Then they cut me off and put me back in the queue. I can only think this was to improve their answer time. The problem was I was not done asking for information and never got the right information. What I was given showed poor knowledge of the company website as I was directed to someplace non-existent. My experience with calling has been waits up to, and more than an hour. I will never again have a loan through this company, nor would I recommend them to anyone. The loan came with a solar install. I will never go to them myself. read more

I have been a member of DCU for about a year and half and so far it's been good. They offer CU service banking which my other credit union is also apart of which is nice. Their CD cert rates could be a little more competitive but each credit union offers different types of member incentives so do your research if you are going to put your money in a CD. What is great is not getting slammed with fees for every little thing like the banks love to do. Just a note because they are a credit union things are different you do have to be a member of DCU or a member of a credit union which is apart of the CU service network in order to do any transaction there. The exceptions are if you are cashing a check from a member or if you have power of attorney over a members account. You can't just walk off the street and decide you want change, this is true with most credit unions, heck it is even becoming more common with most banks. Getting bent out of shape because a credit union won't allow a non-member to do a transaction is like getting mad at a resturant for not allowing you to make a reservation for a specific time when they only allow call ahead sitting. read more

When you bring it up there's tell they can't do anything about it and send you off to another DCU that does here a coin machine. I shouldn't have to go bank hopping to get all my banking stuff done. I received an antique auto loan with DCU in early January. I purchased a 1992 Nissan Skyline GTST with the check for the loan from the sellerwhom had a loan with DCU for the car. The day that I gave him the $12,000 check for the car was the day he paid the vehicle off. The problem is that the lien is still yet to be released from his title, so he has not received the title in the mail yet to sign over to me. He received a letter in the mail stating that the lien had been released and that he should had been expecting the title in the mail. I keep receiving letters stating that the vehicle must be titled with DCU listed as the lien holder and that I must provide insurance proof for the vehicle. I obviously am not able to retitle/register the vehicle since a title was never received to be signed over. Along with that my insurance agent will not insure the car unless I have the title for the car. The seller and I have both been to branches numerous times to try and sort things out and the situation never comes to an end. I received the "Final Notice" in the mail today stating that my loan will now have $1,602 added to my loan balance and that my payments will increase by approximately $137.50. I will also attach a screenshot of proof straight from the Massachusetts DMV's website showing that the lien has yet to be released from the seller's title. Due to the negligence of DCU releasing the lien from seller's title, I am now the one facing unnecessary repercussions that should never be happening. The vehicle is still fully insured and being paid for monthly by the seller so it has not had a lapse in coverage although I understand that the insurance is supposed to be in my name which I am unable to do without a title. read more

I walked into DCU to just check them out. I ended up leaving with a pre-approved Auto Loan, a Free Checking Account, A Free Savings Account, A Free Business Account as well as a Business Savings Account AND A DCU Platinum Visa Card with a large Credit line. All it cost me to join was $5.00 in both savings accounts. I had been told by many over the years about how good they were, but I always went for the closer bank or Credit Union. I could not believe I waited so long to join them. My direct deposits are available to me early too. Anywhere from 2 to 5 days early. The few issues I've had were handled well by them. They really have been Amazing. Especially when I look back at the Hassles and fees I had to put up with from the Large banks or some other Credit Unions. The ONLY issue I have with them is this.... I have that VISA Platinum card, but with NO Rewards. It has MANY Pro's, but one BIG CON for me. Pro's. No Transfer fees on Balance transfers. Very Low Interest Rates (currently 8.5% for me). Same interest rate for Purchases OR Cash Advances. In Fact, every January for the past few years they have offered 6 months 0% interest with no fees. Perfect to transfer all my Christmas shopping balances from OTHER cards to the DCU Card and take a little time to Ketchup. The card is ALMOST perfect. My issue with the DCU Credit Card is that the Due date and the Statement Dates CAN NOT BE CHANGED!! Having the due date fixed to the 15th for EVERYONE seems stupid. Especially to me, whereas I get paid at the end of the month and have ALL OTHER CARDS set to be due on the 1st. The 15th is the absolute worst date for me, and they won't allow it to be changed. I have 10 Cards, and this is the only Card that you cannot change. read more

This is for ONLINE experience Can't spell sucked without DCU. Opened an account. a few days later got Pin # in mail. Go to log in with membership# and pin get member name/password doesn't match. Call # over 30 minute wait, use online chat said wait will be greater than 5 minutes, they were right gave up after 45 minutes. So called again when I spoke to someone told him the issue he walked me though what I just told him I did and got the same result as me error message. Great start with new account.
