It's not like your typical American airports where shuttles pass by and you wait on the curb. Instead they keep it a secret when you book your reservation that the pickup place is some random parking stall in the garage. So strange. So we get to the unmarked stall (C22) and we are waiting with like 10 other people. The van comes and the driver said he can only fit 6 people, and he has a list of people who made a reservation for the shuttle. How the heck are you supposed to know to sign up for a spot on the shuttle?? So we try to ask him if we can put our names on the list for the next shuttle and he just like waves us away and is kind of rude. He said he'll be back in 50 minutes... or 15... he never clarified even though we asked. He comes back in about 20 minutes and takes the rest of us to the hotel. It was definitely a wild ride to the hotel... The hotel isn't that far from the airport, but you can't walk... We finally get into our room and it's nice enough. The shower was hot and the water pressure was great. The AC was easy to turn on and we figured out the lights. I'd definitely give this place another try knowing that I need to make a reservation for the airport shuttle. And I know where to find it.

We were extremely tired from the long journey from Patagonia and yet they made us sit in the van for at least a good 20 mins, hoping to fill up the van before taking off. We tried asking them at one point how soon can they leave (we almost got off to take a cab instead) and they just gave us a hand signal (whatever that might mean). The room itself was tired and old....and so was the bathroom. Definitely not at Hilton standards. The next morning, the shuttle service was late and didnt even gesture us despite we were waiting out front....terrible service. Next time, I rather stay at the Holiday Inn, which is literally outside the airport, than to deal this. Not recommended!

Location was wonderful- in the middle of centro and right next to subway and bus stops. I stayed here twice, the first time was in a standard room which was very basic (bed, nightstand, bathroom, chairs, TV). The second time I somehow got upgraded to a suite and the room was huge, even had its own living room. You'll get different services based on which package you buy, I got a free drink at the bar (choice of pisco sour or a glass of wine) and they gave me a bottle of wine at the turn-down service. The pool was closed, which was strange because it's indoor and on the top floor. Not bad, but not particularly nice.

In fact, what I love most about this hotel is the staff: they are wonderful and cared so much that I on my second visit I was giving hugs to everyone! The hotel is not big - in fact I would describe it more like a traditional bed & breakfast. They have five rooms on two levels, a lounge area/living room and a wonderful secluded garden in the back. Also, they have a cute wine cellar, where they store organic wines. And the wonderful thing is - they're very generous when it comes to letting you taste their wines! I really loved that every morning I would be greeted with a wonderful Chilean brekfast - consisting of fresh juice, eggs with cheese and pancakes filled with with wonderfully delicious Manjar (the Chilean version of Dulce de Leche). And throughout the day, there's coffee, tea and other snacks available at the bar in the lobby. The Carménére is located in a quiet and residential area of Santiago called Providencia. To me this location was perfect - walking distance to many of Santiago's trendy neighbourhoods such as Barrio Italia, "Bellavista, Bellas Artes and Lastarria. In fact, I would really recommend exploring Santiago by foot and/or by public transportation - the subway is really fast and will bring you to almost all hotspots in the city. (You can borrow a metro pass from the reception.) Five thumbs up!

It was a bedroom in a house, effectively, and it felt like home with the smell of freshly washed Kirkland 800 thread count linens. Very comfortable bed that I did not want to leave. The bathroom was nice and clean with new appliances. I loved the homemade breakfast in the morning (Paula knows how to cook up some eggs). Did not try the complimentary wine tasting but the cellar is a nice place to chill. I'd recommend this hotel if you're ok with walking a bit to the more happening areas as this is very much in a local neighborhood (still walking distance but not right outside the door).

The free airport shuttle works although not always on time - pick up on 3rd level gate #3 - helps to communicate with the front desk via WhatsApp (airport WiFi works near the gate) in case it's late. Checking in seems to be strictly 3 pm. King room is not bad, was told it's an upgrade, quite large with a couch and sitting area, very practical set up with plenty of surfaces to put stuff on. Wet bar with fridge and microwave is convenient. No hot water kettle however, just a keurig type coffee maker. Being a tea drinker it's useless, plus of course there's no tea just coffee pods. Overall it's clean and bed and pillows comfortable although sheets a bit thin and don't feel like cotton. Breakfast was ok with a few hot dishes, not the most tasty - eggs, veggies, potatoes, rice - variety of pastries but at peak time kept running out and not replenished. The biggest surprise was luggage storage which is not free - $10 per piece regardless of size or whether you are returning to stay at the hotel. Although a bargain compared to what the airport would charge (about $25 per piece). Wifi worked ok in room. We had lunch one time in the cafe as well which was adequate, Caesar salad was a bit in name only but it was fresh, pasta a bit overcooked and rather bland, however price quite reasonable.

City Express was just perfect for us, about 8 minutes by shuttle. PRO TIP the shuttle on Delfos is free. When you exit the baggage area look for door number 4, the Delfos desk is just to the right and they'll give you the free voucher to board their shuttle. Easy, once you know what you're doing :). We arrived super early around 10am and were pleased to find our room was ready. The room was basic, but well equipped with a hair dryer, iron, etc. We were waiting for our tour pick up so we opted to just eat lunch at the in hotel restaurant. The food was surprisingly good, and the place got quite busy around 1pm! They were happy to arrange the free shuttle to pick us up at 3am to head to the airport. Great stay!
