The cards were also unique but I didn't find any that really spoke to me compared to some other places. The dumpster fire earrings and the angry possum ones were so cute, I couldn't help but buy them! Your wallet might be in danger though, as items in here aren't cheap, but remember, you're paying a real artist and not some big manufacturering souless meh company who just mass produces a specific product. What really stood out to me here were all the employees! They were way too friendly and if I wasn't super introverted and scared of interaction, I probably would've loved it. Still, giving credit where it's due! Ill definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

This little gift shop is packed with irresistibly cute designs by local artist Lauren Rudeck who created the spot as a place to showcase and sell her fun and twee animal art! You can get all sorts of goodies here that feature her original designs, from t-shirts to magnets, stickers, kitchen towels, enamel pins, toys, and all sorts of quirky goodies. Even better, proceeds from sales help support sloth rescue in Costa Rica! This is your chance to buy local and do some good. The gifts here are perfect for anyone on your list. I mean, who wouldn't want a cartoon of a robot fighting a sloth on their fridge or stuck to their laptop? I adore the greeting cards, which make unique notes of cheer for friends and family. Plus, it feels extra nice to support a small local artist while you're snagging a few smiles for yourself or friends. I always come to shop here whenever I'm in Seattle not just to soak up the cuteness, but to buy a few things and leave feeling like the world is a slightly funnier, fluffier place. Warning: you might also leave with more stuff than you intended, but it's totally worth it.

When I came down here I noticed a line in front of the photo booth and to the left of that booth I saw the coolest Fortune Telling Chicken that caught my eye immediately. I walked over to the other coin-taking machines and noticed I was right in front of Orange Dracula store! Walking in and immediately to your right there is ANOTHER photo booth and this one HAD NO LINE!!!! I was so smitten that I sat down, paid my $5, and took my pictures without being rushed. Do yourself a favor and GO INSIDE! Not only is there that 2nd photo booth everyone wants to go to but there are super uniquely curated spooky and non-spooky stuff in here! I was able to buy the coolest and unique postcards here to send back to my family in Texas. I even got some really cool patches and other oddities to bring back. I had such a great time walking around the store and reading all the small signs and descriptions of what they offer here. I love the humor and the cool reminders on pricing, what things are, and where you could use the thing you just stumbled upon. Service was super friendly and quirky but I like shop owners like this. They are just keeping it real and are my type of vibe. I even saw a rack of water bottles for sale which was nice to see especially after walking around all morning.

I would highly recommend supporting both.

I had the opportunity to stop by this afternoon (12/31/23) to browse and drop off many retail bags for reuse. Seattle Records is adjacent to the retail and art gallery featuring works from Ryan Henry Ward. The individual at the shop was really welcoming. We had a nice convo about various other indie vinyl shops here in Seattle and across the sound. I enjoyed perusing the collection while listening to Sade and Heart. It was predominently vinyl, but there were CDs abd cassettes too. I was told that today's special was buy two albums, get one free. I lucked out when looking through the local Northwest artists and found three recent limited edition albums from Sky Cries Mary. This was quite the spontaneous splurge, but lucked out that one album was autographed by the band. Seattle has many indie record shops with their signature vibe. The collection here seems to be well curated, a little bit of this and that, spanning various styles and time frames.

In August, I was given a gift from the store that didn't suit me at all. It was a gold flower…read morenecklace that did not sit right on me. It fell forward and was not well valanced on the chain. We don't live in Seatttle, where the store is, so my husband sent back of the gift and was told that someone would help me with an exchange. I had no response to my Instagram messages or my emails. Now in December, finally someone is responding to us and they are unwilling to help shop remotely, siting the season as the reason. In fact, they're only willing to offer a gift card. They did, however, offer the "full price" on the gift card. I found that an interesting statement. As if that was a favor to me. So since we live far away, it's unlikely that I will remember to use the gift card. We only visit once every year or two. I hope I do have a chance to spend the gift card, worth over $300. But this is just a reminder that while it's nice to shop small businesses, in person, it's not necessarily great for the recipient of the gift. Especially if a change is needed. A better resolution would've been a refund to my husband. Especially for a long distance situation. While he was told that the sales person would be helpful, we have not found that to do so. One of my favorite sayings is that you're either winning or you're learning. I'd say this is definitely a learning experience. Shop wisely.
