Walked a long distance to this restaurant because it was rated number two on vegan cow in rotterdam (the yelp for vegan restaurants). We were extremely disappointed. First of all we asked for tapwater and they refused to give it to us. I am environmentally conscious and I will not support the use of bottled water in a country where tapwater is clean and safe. Being extremely health-conscious I asked multiple times regarding dishes whether they were fried or not. The waitress assured me that the Soya ribs were not fried but were baked. However they were actually Fried with lots of oil dripping off of them. We ordered Vietnamese noodles, which came in dry and bland. We considered sending it back but decided to be nice and to make it more palatable asking for soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce. Without notifying us in advance they added three euros to the bill for the sweet-and-sour sauce. If the noodles were properly seasoned we would not have had to request the additional sweet and sour sauce. When we brought this up, they replied with "that's the price". We ended up paying €50 for two people for a very unsatisfactory meal. We will not be returning. Omdat ik extreem gezondheidsbewust was, vroeg ik meerdere keren over gerechten of ze gefrituurd waren of niet. De serveerster verzekerde me dat de sojaribben niet gebakken waren maar gebakken. Maar ze waren eigenlijk gebakken met veel olie die eraf droop. We bestelden Vietnamese noedels, die droog en flauw kwamen. We hebben overwogen om het terug te sturen, maar besloten aardig te zijn en het smakelijker te maken door om sojasaus en zoetzure saus te vragen. Zonder ons van tevoren op de hoogte te stellen, voegden ze drie euro toe aan de rekening voor de zoetzure saus. Als de noedels goed waren gekruid, hadden we niet om de extra zoetzure saus hoeven vragen. Toen we dit ter sprake brachten, antwoordden ze met "dat is de prijs". We betaalden uiteindelijk € 50 voor twee personen voor een zeer onbevredigende maaltijd. We zullen niet terugkeren.

Then, there are few places that serve excellent and near-perfect edible arts. These places don't need anything else but their products to attract foodies. Loft Der Zoetheid definitely falls into this category. I personally haven't been treated poorly like a few reviewers pointed out. In fact, I've always experienced excellent services here. The owner even gave us complimentary raspberry/strawberry prosecco the last 2 times dined there. Regardless, the reason I gave this place a perfect score is because they do have great dishes. AND they have the best high-tea out of all the places I've visited around the globe. And.... I do travel. This is a must-visit and must-reserved place for high tea if you've never been here and if you love high-teas. Everything is homemade and delicious. However, if customer service is what you're looking for, Loft der Zoetheid may not be the right fit for you. P.S. I have rated some places low based on poor customer service but their dishes weren't good enough to make up for their poor service. :-)

We had made reservations for ten people, but our group arrived in smaller groups over a period of an hour. The Fish Market was very understanding and patient with us, and we happily enjoyed some wine and oysters during this time. When we were finally all together and had ordered, the food was quickly prepared and served. Moreover, the dishes were presented beautifully and in a grand fashion; the portions are not small, at all. I had the pleasure of enjoying the sole (zeetong), which was very delicious, simply serves with a cup of clarified butter. A perfect combination. The rest of the table enjoyed the mussels, the cold seafood platter, and a mixed grill. Everybody enjoyed their food very much, and it must be said that our group included an Australian top chef; she too was impressed by the quality of the food. One batch of mussels were unfortunately cold when they arrived to the table, but when we pointed this out, the host apologized and was happy to take it back and produce a new, fresh serving. The design and atmosphere of the restaurant is interesting; unlike other restaurants, the Fish Market doesn't care for dimly lit lights or red chairs. Rather, with the white tiles and industrial lamps, they have tried to make it look and feel like you are in the back-end shop of a fish monger. As eerie as that may sound, it isn't. Strangely enough, it makes for the perfect place to have some good quality seafood. Overall, the quality of the food was extremely well, which, in combination with the great service and atmosphere, makes The Fish Market my new favorite in town.
