wow. this place was super tasty and a little pricey however the mussels are fresh. they are 30 mins away caught from amsterdam and they give you so much! the food was amazing and the stew was very soft and yummy. it melted in my mouth and there was a beer reduction which added more flavor into the meat. i also got the shrimp curry pasta. super unique and super yummy. it's literally a lighter version of curry and adding shrimp in pasta. it was divine and everyone i ate it with enjoyed. the service was 10/10. our waitress was so kind and offered advice on where to go around the city. brought our food super quick and overall kind. the ambiance was chill. we got sat upstairs and it was a nice sit down dinner vibe. read more

By far the worst restaurant I have eaten at anywhere in the world. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. We ordered spaghetti bolognese for our son, but had to send it back because he has a cheese allergy. When we explained this, we were questioned about why we "didn't ask for no cheese" -- however, the menu did not state that the dish would arrive covered in cheese. It was the cheapest item on our order, and I even told the waiter I was happy to pay again if it was an issue. He said it was fine and took it back to the kitchen. Five minutes later, the waiter and chef came back out and slammed the bowl down on the table saying, "THERE YOU GO, NO CHEESE." My son started to cut up the pasta and we realised they had simply tipped the original dish out and put the exact same food into another bowl, just this time the cheese was on the bottom!! We left immediately. To make things worse, my husband was accused of drinking too much, despite the fact he has never drunk alcohol in his life. We had barely touched our food, but we simply couldn't stay in such an unpleasant environment. The owner (a lady, I believe) seemed disappointed in her staff, but unfortunately the experience was unacceptable. Avoid. read more

A genuine tourist trap (although I'm a local). Here you eat mussels with the size of a peanut. The size of mussels that belong in a jar with vinegar. It would cost them 1 euro extra to supply you with a decent meal but the restaurant choses to deprive you from it for the extra euro. I therefore suspect that they cut corners on every dish on the menu to this extent. So this 'restaurant' is absolutely not recommended. They probably count on the steady flow of customers which they see only once on this highly touristic location. read more

When the waiter doesn't know if the steak is pig or cow, you know you're off to a bad start. When he then comes back after asking and says "cow", but can't tell you which part of the cow... That's when you order pasta. Turns out that wasn't a smart plan, as the chef evidently decided to drop a bowl of pepper into it..it was all I could taste. I love seeing waiters happy and talking amongst themselves, but when their friends drop by and a group of five gasbag so loud other guests turn their heads...? Not so much. Not that I could tell waiters from their friends were it not for the pay machine attached to their hips. They all had cellphones in hand, and the clothing didn't tell them apart from guests-nor did the attitude. I'm not expecting uniforms, but at least something to identify them as part of the establishment. This place is 100% tourist trap. read more

Great location at the market. We tried their calamari, garlic bread, egg rolls, pizza, and steak & frites , and more fries. Ambiance was great but I recommend outside. It was understandably chaotic because of the Christmas market, but fun. The local Belgium beer was superb. We warmed up and it was a great ending to a wonderful day in a beautiful town. read more

I like this place! A good choice when in Brugges. You will note that the food is Italian so it's a nice change from the standard Brasserie fair. We received excellent service and the price was good for the quantity of food that we received. The food was tasty as well. Certainly this is not a Michelin star restaurant but the location with the view of the market square is fantastic. Overall there was a good mix for me of atmosphere, food taste, value and service. I'm no mussel expert, but I lived in Montreal for 3 years and spent a week in Brussels indulging on them. With that, this place had the best mussels I've ever had. I had the Mussels a al creme, which comes with frites. The mussels are cooked with onions and celery along with the creme. If I could have drank out of the bowl, I would have. The wife had the Steak Frites which was very well made. Cooked to a perfect medium with hints of red wine. The fries were like a small piece of heaven. Crispy on the outside and light in the middle. Service was top notch with a waiter who was very proficient in English. We sat upstairs with a great view of the square. The Christmas season had the holiday beers and the Belgian Noel was off the charts. 10% Alc of smoothness. We thought this was a tourist trap based on its location, we thought wrong... read more

Wasn't sure about this place because it was right on the Markt. We stopped to have a beer, since many of the restaurants were not open for dinner until 6:00. I and not so much a beer drinker so I asked for a recommendation on a fruit beer. The Chouffe Cherry was so good! A little sour, a little sweet. We had the shrimp croquettes, tomato soup with bread, and the Flemish beef stew. The croquettes were so good! The tomato soup was ok. Needed a little sat and maybe some herbs but it was good with the bread dipped in it. The Flemish beef stew was the highlight of the menu. So much flavor in this dish. And you get frites and salad with it. We shared all of the items and enjoyed our meal. And you can beat being right there on the Markt. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I only wish we would have had room for dessert. read more

We stopped by here to have a waffle and some hot chocolate. The staff was really friendly. This location is on the square so you can do some people watching. We shared a waffle with whipped cream and strawberries. It was perfectly crunchy and the whipped cream wasn't too sweet. It also had a ton of strawberries on the side dusted with powdered sugar. It a big dish so it's perfect for sharing. I also really liked my hot chocolate- it wasn't too chocolatey and really creamy. read more

Impressive logistic allowing the restaurant to server a very large number of customers in a very reasonable timing. Even at the time where all other restaurants in the beighbourhood are "competely booked". I understood there are actually four floors.-. The waiters must be quite fit in order to go up and down the stairs... We were on second floor and there service was actually OK (in particular for the initial ordering) but we had to be patient for the add-ons (mayonnaise, second beer) that e asked once the main dishes were served. The Carbonnade were tasty but unfortunately served a bit cold. The mussels "à la Portuguaise" were fresh and excellent (cream and garlic) but the price was rather high (29 euros). The lasagne was served in a proper (large) portion and enjoyed by the teenagers. I recommend the Bourgogne des Flandres as a beer. It is a bit sour (normal for a lambic style). The three stars is indicating we were satisfied but we didn't opt for anything gastronomic as we were in tourist mood and were looking for a proper lunch in between museums. But the place certainly matches our expectations for that day. read more

Don't go here! Terrible fries (town is famous for them and you're in the main square and can't get it right!) then charge 2 euro for mayo and ketchup. Without saying there's an extra charge! The stuff is friendly. The lasagna is good. But the Belgium Fries are the worst Fries that I has been tried. Also there are too expensive 12€ for a plate with Fries. The Fries on the square are better and they are just 3€. read more

We visited this restaurant on Sunday 11 November. We have visited Bruges on numerous occasions and always stop here for a hot chocolate. On this occasion, we waited for a very long time before a waiter came over to us. He took our order (two hot chocolates) and we then waited for around 25 minutes for him to bring our order. Having been kept waiting, I wanted to drink and go, so I paid for the two drinks. On tasting them, we realised they were two lattes (not the hot chocolates we had ordered). The waiter then insisted that we had ordered what he brought to us and refused to accept that he had got the order wrong! He then abused me saying that "As an old man, he respected me" but refused to budge. The other waiter was also less than helpful and said they were busy. I had asked to speak to the manager (both waiters claiming to be that!). They seemed unwilling to either believe me or sort the problem out. They kept walking away from us and refused to engage in conversation. We will NEVER come back here again. The customer service is terrible and the waiters are surly, rude and unhelpful. AVOID as all costs, there are better (and cheaper) restaurants nearby. read more

Ripped us off! We ordered tap water with our meal and waiter brought a bottle of water which was already opened. We thought it was tap water. Then he charged 7 Euro for the water. When we asked about the water and charge he said it was bottled water. Then blew us off. Don't go there! read more
