The clown Girl at the candy shack in carnevil needs to get off her high horse She is not a manager and therefore does not need to be screaming at people when they accidentally flash a light in her face not having seen the rules, no one should. She also does not need to shout "Yeah, duces" when someone flashes her the peace sign as they walk away. Other than that, it was great. I particularly enjoyed the sanderson's sisters , especially since Winifred was portrayed by a male actor showing support for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. read more

It was decent for $30.00, not a lot of scare as an adult, mostly walking. Not a lot of props to look at, however a few were kinda cool. Mostly people walking with ya, no real thriller costumes mostly store bought costumes. Good for young kids probably up to 11ys old. The lines are long so expect to wait up to an hour or more per attraction. read more

Haunts are fun and scary. Parking/exiting situation is not good. The wait times are sooooo bad, would recommend getting fast passes. Sometimes you get a worker that has no idea what they're doing and you'll end up waiting 2+ hours in line. read more

First off, I'd like to give major shout outs to the staff and location of this great experience. A friend and I seasonally search-out haunts and chose Dead Land Haunted Woods due to its outside location, which is a cool change from all these indoor venues popping up. There are three main courses you can take at Dead Land: The Cursed, The Portal, and a maze (which we chose not to do, more of a fun ad-on than a haunt). Let's review both of them in the order we participated - No spoilers, so here are the highlights: The Cursed - The more "hardcore" one: - Thomas the Butcher; set up extremely well and simply a great character. - We walked over dead bodies (side note - stepped on ones head...awesome.) - Hurst guy. My friend and I enjoy talking with the actors and he had a great response for every query we had. - Loved walking from scene to scene. - A scene that resembled one of the opening shots from Willow. "AWAY PECK!" - Not to detract- Slightly racist indian teepee. We both giggled at the absurdity. - The barber scene! Great scream from the girl! The Portal - The more "user friendly" one: - Freaking Slenderman! Give it up for Slenderman! Have fun finding him...because he will find you when you are not expecting it. Excellent stilt-work. - Really good lighting! - A REAL HORSE, bless his/her heart...don't really know, it was a horse. - Some extremely well done zombie sounds from the actors. - Wood nymph girl made us both smile. - Rave guy. Nice change of pace from the rest but didn't detract. - Pumpkin Man - If your costume was made out of pie I would eat it whole. Its important to note that we only went in with the intention to go through one of these courses, as we arrived right at closing. After going through The Cursed we immediately wanted to go through The Portal. The staff was thrilled that we wanted more and allowed us to go through as the last group of the evening. Very accommodating. We stayed back and talked with some of the staff and their passion and hard work really shines through. The staff is what made this even better than expected. My friend and I made a vow to do Haunts every year, and we will continue to support this crew. Some of the few words I would describe this place as is: short attractions, long lines (up to 2 hours) and some actors have NO impulse control. Now when I say this I dont mean they would scare the heck out of you I mean it in a more aggressive way. For example me and my friend let's call her rose went into the portal attraction which if you dont know is a trail through the woods with some little tunnels and things built for the guests to go through. Well with one there Is a hatch that a girl tries to scare you in... well as we were walking through a girl popped out of that hatch and said something like "why wont you let us sleep???" Well rose light heartily tapped the edge of the wooden ledge (NOT the actress or the hatch itself) which then the actress went on to YANK roses long hair and backed her into a corner staying IN CHARACTER that shes calling security and told the woman outside the tunnel to follow us. So I have a few problems with this... ONE this was a NO TOUCH haunted trail. We signed no waivers and this place was even for 9 year olds.. so by her doing that we felt that this whole place was UNSAFE TWO what that actress did was a gross over reaction. It truly shows how unprofessional this place really was. So thanks for ruining our mood for the rest of the night! THREE if someone is doing or did something wrong you should not continue in character. Because people will not know if they truly did something wrong.. it was a horrible confusion But the reason I didnt give 1 star is because some of the actors at the curse trail truly made our night better the barber and the main character i forget but they made the night for us far more fun and see what this place was truly capable of. So thank you two so very much! In conclusion: some actors have no control in the worst if ways, very long line for one of the attractions, the whole thing felt somewhat unsafe after that whole incident. read more

My friend and I went here last night. This place is beyond creepy as soon as you get out of the car. It's literally in the middle of the back woods and dark as hell. We were terrified. It was so worth the money! If you are looking for an excellent Halloween scare this October then most definitely go to Dead Land! I'm a Halloween enthusiast and this is by far one of THE best Halloween attractions I've ever been to! I don't remember the last time I screamed so loud and ran so fast! My daughter and I are new to town, so we checked out Dead Land Woods last night. The Curse was the first one that we walked thru. It was pretty good, however, some of the screams from the actors were too loud-it just wasn't necessary. The second attraction we walked thru was the Portal. It was clearly the best! The female vampires were very good. The movie scenes were top notch, but the actual characters in the scenes were a disappointment. I did, however, get a chuckle from "Jason" imitating my daughter's canter as she hurried past him. The third was the maze. We waited in line for over an hour and expected something amazing. It was a HUGE disappointment. Don't waste your time going thru this one. Overall it was a fun night out, but I don't think I will go again next year. read more

Awesome!! We went Friday night (10/23/15) and I was surprised there weren't more people but that was fine by us--maybe because it really is way out in the woods (but not hard to find or get to), but the whole vibe was great from the moment we drove in through the old gates. I've been to "professional" haunted houses in LA and NY and this had them beat, the props actors, FX, it was creepy and we did get the #$@% scared out of us at times but also did alot of laughing. Not sure I'd bring a young kid, but do both The Curse and The Portal trail and you'll think twice about that walk in the woods for a long time. read more

I didn't think Deadlands could get any better but they are really rocking it this year. The Portal and the Curse are still solid. I don't scare easily but they still got a couple of screams out of me. Loved the Crypt with it's really fantastic special effects. They have two new escape rooms too. We escaped one but got stuck in the other. Then we bought everything for s'mores around the campfire at the concession stand. They even had sticks. We went early this year and didn't have much of a wait in line. We had a great night. Highly recommended. read more

Anyplace that can get me to spend 84 bucks of my hard earned greenbacks and me not have laments about it like ' that was 84 bucks worth of beer ' or ' that was 84 bucks worth of comic books and nerdy crap i dont need ' or ' that was 84 bucks worth of more beer ' is definitely pretty awesome... The portal was the highlight. It has various movie scenes that you walk through and the production level is pretty awesome, given most haunted trails and stuff seem like they were put together by mrs. potatoeface's 5th grade class... These scenes were top notch... Any scene that can get my 14 year old son who has said to me ' ill never cuss ' to scream out ' oh sh*t!! ' a few times, lets me know its done its job well... The curse is decent, but not on the level of the portal... The guy who greets the people at the beginning is top notch though and the story they have told with it all is great, but the portal was the real highlight of the entire thing.... They do have this vodoo scene where the girl does a contortionist thing with her neck, that was truly terrifying... I've often told my kids these important life lessons ' old people are generally creepy ' ... ' look both ways and hold hands while crossing the street ' and ' dont mess around with anyone who pratices the arts of voodoo or gypsy ' , because I'm terrified of them... So, that probably added to my fright in this one scene.... The other thing they had was a maze... I'm not a fan of mazes... the prospect of getting stuck in a dark room with a bunch of weirdo strangers who could grab my junk for sh*ts and giggles doesnt really appeal to me... But, my girlfriend decided to try this theory that was taught to her by her friend... I wont tell you the theory, because I'd have to kill you if I did and I dont need murder on my already growing rap sheet... But, we made it out of the maze in like a minute... But, there was one group that had been stuck in there for 25 minuites?! why?! because they didn't have the mr wizard of the haunted house realm on their team... we did... we rule... this placed ruled... the ghost beers I didnt consume in my belly because of the money I spent said ' this didnt rule! ' but I scream at my belly and go ' shut up not drinked ghost beers!!! ' read more

We paid to go to both the houses. The "portal" one we thought was better then the other one ONlY because the other one you caught right up to the group in front of you. I would have much rather waited in line longer and not have seen the group in front(about 40 minutes for the portal and we bought a fast pass for the other cause the line was really long). My group jumped a few times they had some really creative scenes and they really interacted with you. Over all it was good but I have been to better. I wouldn't say it was a waste of money. read more

TERRIBLE!!!! these people below obviously work there.... or own it. They are pulling in a ton of money. Waited in line for 3 hours for a 15 minute walk through the woods. The staff is rude. NO REFUND! Even if your child can not stand in line for 3 hours they will not refund. I can guarantee that I have never worked at this place (I'm too old and I have a real job during the week). The actors were good if not great. And it would be scary to a kid. It would be great for kids if they weren't expected to stand in line for 3 hours. The vendors try to SELL you hot chocolate while standing in line. After standing in the cold waiting for an hour and a half you think they might offer FREE COMPLIMENTARY hot chocolate. NOOOOOO... let's squeeze some more money out of you. $1 for a baby little foam cup. Of course you could pay an extra $10 for the fast pass.... not worth 25$ even if you did make it in there sooner. Worth 10$ no waiting.... but that's it. I hope more people speak out about this. Maybe Saturdays are busy but atleast have a sign saying please don't pay unless you expect to wait for 3 hours. Just warn people before they pay and then can't go in because their kid is too tired from standing in line. And if that happens too bad because you are not getting your money back. The staff do not care if you have to wait... they are NOT courteous if you even try to complain or express concern for your child. I WILL NOT GO BACK EVER. read more
