My friends and I used to go here every 2 weeks. The dancers are gorgeous and the servers and security guys are very nice and accommodating. They even remember our names. But ever since the new ownership took over the pricing structure is just insane. My bottom shelf single whisky is now $25 and it now cost $25 to access the lap dance area plus $20 for the dance itself. And you have to pay that access fee every single time you go back there. SO much better than my first 2 visits years ago! I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. The first time I went there was probably 5-6 years ago. It was alright. Second time, meh. But I was just there on Thursday and that place is ELECTRIC now! Customer service was on point. The staff was so helpful and inviting. I spent like 20 minutes talking to a dude who worked there and he explained that the Dean's I wasn't all that keen on is far in the past. Apparently new owners, new management and a complete makeover is in the works! So far so good! Im not much of a strip club guy so I never really considered this, but the variety of girls is bonkers! Another guy who worked there told me that's by design. They're looking to hire girls from all over the world of different sizes, shapes, colors etc to highlight the variety they try to hire. Once I knew that I couldn't unsee it after that. Tall girls, short girls, Cubans, Canadians (I got a dance from a girl from Ukraine) and of course, American girls. The DJ was slaying it! The energy in there was off the charts! I was told big celebrities go there all the time, but I was al but skeptical. Until someone pointed out one of the biggest celebrities in the music business today! I was asked to keep that persons name quiet because they try to guard celebrities privacy which I respect. I was meeting some people here (would never go on my own...). I had my 5 pound service dog with me and the bouncers were so rude; they were screaming and cussing at me! I've never been spoken to like that by anyone, let alone a place of business. Service dogs are allowed to be taken anywhere. Clearly they don't know the law. For a bouncer to scream at me and say do you love your dog? Get the f**k out of here etc etc. I felt threatened and intimidated. I'm 110 lbs being screamed at by large men weighing 200lbs +. Friend and his industry girlfriend took me there late Saturday night around 4am and holy shit, this place's staff, specifically the straight off the shipping container Eastern European favela dancers, had the worst attitude ever. I'm local and don't go to these places much, but I've never seen anything like this before. My dude was nearly waving two stacks of bills in both his hands and these women would scoff as they passed him by. There was a nice Jew chick we hung out with later on who was clearly on speed, and the manager Keith (who looked like he hadn't had a day off in the 12 years he's been there) was helpful in the end and the only reason why I'm not giving it a one-star, hence the two and not one star rating. I've been to Solid Gold a few times over the past couple of years, and I'm a bit surprised that I'm the first to review it on Yelp. Maybe it's because this establishment is a bit out of the way? Two things of note about Solid Gold: First, it bills itself to be a bit higher class than the neighborhood "booby bar" and seems to try and attract a more classy clientele. Indeed, most nights you see limousines and shiny Hummer H2s under the covered entrance to the place, rather than the broken down Mazdas and Toyota Corollas that you might find at, say BTs. The other thing that is pretty apparent about this place is that, while I'm sure it was a beautiful club back in the day, it sadly looks like it's stuck in the 80's or early 90's both inside and out and needs to be updated. Seriously, do they even make fabric patterns like that anymore? Can you still get pleather (combination of plastic and imitation leather) couches in light grey like that anymore?? That being said, Solid Gold really takes the whole concept of a classy gentleman's club to a new level, especially for S. Florida. This ain't just your typical place with trashy women dancing on a broken down stage with bad lighting and a stripper pole that needs to be wiped down with bleach after every few dances. When you go to the entrance of the VIP room, there's a large brass plaque mounted on a stand that prouldly proclaims that you're entering the VIP area, and you walk through an entrance that's lined with gold drapes and guarded by red velvety ropes hanging from solid brass stanchions. Solid Gold has its name and logo etched into the mirrors behind the main stage and in every one of their private rooms, they have a proper cigar bar here, everything shines and sparkles, and although sex sells here the place doesn't smell like it if you know what I mean! A few years ago when I was here for a bachelor party, they had the main stage with the female strippers, and a smaller stage with male strippers for the ladies in the back. I think the idea was that they wanted to offer something for the ladies, and if you desired you could have a combination bachelor/bachelorette party here where the ladies could go do their thing in the back while the men did their thing out front. However, that concept must not have taken off, 'cause I noticed when I came here recently that they've scrapped the idea of the male dancers. They've also had a few musical artists play live here, mostly washed up 80's rockers like Motley Crue, Quiet Riot and Winger. Not quite sure what that was supposed to add to the evening, but OK, whatever works. When I was here a few weeks ago, the only live music was a few Latin guys who were on stage swaying back and forth and playing timbales and conga drums while staring at the ladies while they danced (one drummer had bifocals, so he had to keep tilting his head down while watching the women so he could see out of the top 1/2 of his glasses. I am definitely sure there is more to that story. I have been going to this place for about 7 years. I have never had a problem remotely close to any of these negative comments. The drinks are fine. Sooo, hubby and I ended up here after the Georgia humiliation by South Carolina. Me, being the understanding, and sympathetic wife that I am suggested we pay this place a visit to brighten his mood. I do have to say that this was probably the nicest strip clubs I have been to. The place was clean, the place had a full bar (which was overpriced, but then again it's a strip club), good music, and the girls were absolutely drop dead gorgeous. We actually had a lively discussion as to whether some of the girl's bottoms were real or not. The parking situation was a little ridiculous since they make you pay $10 just to park on their lot (no valet included in this price, mind you). The cover, I believe was $20. The girls for the most part were nice and would come over when you had a dollar, but a minority were a little snobby and would not ever come to get their one or two dollars. Also very few girls performed tricks on the pole, which was a little disappointing, but whatever. Lap dances were about $25, weren't planning on getting one, but one of the girls started chatting us up and then offered one to us, so we were like "what the hell". My one caveat to this review is that we went super early, at like 10pm because we had to get up early the next day and were not on a tear really. The girls were meh and not one of them actually did any kind of dancing. Most of the girls were literally standing around just posing while the music played. They all looked bored mostly. Then one girl came over to us and asked to sit with us but once she sat down she didn't say a word. It was awkward and weird.
