I could not believe all the limbs and branches that came off my 2 trees (4 truckloads worth and tons of firewood left for free for Craigs List people) and how great the trees look. They cleaned everything up beautifully, and took great care of my belongings in the yard. The price was very reasonable and well worth every penny. For starters, they were behind from the start on my project and materials were grossly miscalculated. Some of this had to do with changes made by our Pool company but some of them were also the responsibility of Rhodes. They went on a lengthy vacation and promised to start immediately thereafter. After about 10 days, we finally started calling to find out why they hadn't started. When they finally did start, it was one delay after another. We rented heavy equipment in hopes they would get it together, and they were permitted to use our personal tractor. Their own equipment was broke down constantly. During the boulder placement, they dropped a rather large boulder and took a small chunk out of our newly poured driveway. We also paid to have our spa moved to the backyard but the concrete wasn't done and it had to be moved from the existing pad because we had a huge project starting over there and our barn pad was being poured. The movers set the spa right outside the rear fence and when Rhodes eventually did pour the concrete, they manually moved the spa and damaged it. Of course they never ONCE took ownership of anything except the fence panels they took down and planned to reinstall with brackets. It was a custom iron fence welded on site. They also damaged two panels with the bobcat bucket. Thankfully we were there to see it. We paid to bring in about 300 yards of fill dirt and 50 yards of top soil. They had to use it because of the gross miscalculation of materials. Finally, they did all the planting's and about 30 plants DIED almost immediately. Kim eventually did stop over to inform us that they'd come back. We contacted them well within the timeframe for the plants and trees to be warranties. Most that died were 1 and 5 gallon plants. They replaced three plants total and with one pint plants, none of which were the same as what they pulled out. I contacted them twice after that and got no response. For starters, they used to be a great company but they've gone very downhill since the last time we used them. Never again. It's one thing to have small communication issues, or for things to change along the way. It's completely unacceptable to offer a design, charge your customer and then epically fail to follow through or keep your word. Now we've got 30+ dead plants in an already oddly sparse landscape, and after paying $50-$100 for EACH plant, we will have to personally dig them out and replace them. It's completely unprofessional on top of everything else. This is not what I'd expect of them or after paying $50k+ for my landscape. I think they justify it because it was bid higher and my husband negotiated the price with them. We heard more than a few times about how Rhodes thought my husband "squeezed" him for money. My advice, don't use them.

Lighting system seems stable after a few months. 4. Irrigation (drip) and drainage functioning well. 5. Plants took for the most part. 6. Workers were professional and helpful. CONs: 1. At commencement of work it was stated that all plants were available but after planting, we were informed that at least four of the 16 types of plants were substituted. 2. Two aspects of the hardscape design were altered without any discussion. The deviation was not particularly critical to us, so we did not request any corrective action be taken, but it was significant nonetheless and probably should have been approved beforehand. 3. Six plants of a substituted species died within 30 days and were not replaced as the contract guaranteed. A phone message and two conversations about the plants did not lead to any action. It was stated by Dave that the dead plants would be replaced but when over a month elapsed, we replaced the plants ourselves.

Within a a month of the landscaping- weeds started growing heavily through the rock beds , and then later in borders and in the concrete dividers. I immediately called the owner and he did send out some young guys to pull weeds and sprayed . He did not come to view himself. Less than a month later weeds were coming through again. I contacted him again and several promises were made to come back but it never happened. I was told by another land scraper that the weed fabric installed was probably low quality and the rocks needed to be removed, a weed killer applied to the dirt , and a higher quality weed fabric relaid. This will all cost me additional money , which I spent $5000 for this yard landscape. Another thing the drips that were installed never properly worked so many of the plants died due to lack of water. I was advised this would be I investigated, and it was not. While I understand weeds will happen over time, they are actually worse now than before? I wanted a low maintenance backyard landscape, which this isn't it.

I was interested in some…read morebasic yard work in the front - removing grass and putting in new sod, a large mulch area, drought-tolerant plants and a little concrete work. I called for a quote and within days met with Jeff and had numbers in hand. It just so happened that there was also a window to have the work done the following week! The quote was fair and I was very happy to have the project done so quickly. Shortly after the initial quote, I made some changes which resulted in a little miscommunication on a couple pieces of the project. More time would surely have eliminated these concerns, but Jeff and I were able to resolve the gaps in expectations before the work was completed with only minor setbacks. Jeff exceeded expectations with my requests for drainage, which he ran along both sides of my driveway all the way to the sidewalk, and added in multiple drought tolerant plants to add to the design. Upon completion there are a couple small cracks in the concrete that showed up days after being laid, and my hose and mailbox were damaged during the construction (which Jeff offered to replace and re-install), but after having been through a kitchen remodel and other yard projects through other contractors, have learned there will always be minor adjustments or imperfections with any job. Jeff is very responsive, and his crew is hard working and polite. I am very happy with the work and that I was able to get a fair price and have the work done so quickly. The yard looks great and I have had many compliments from neighbors.
