My wife thought she'd take advantage of the "kids eat free" over Easter. Advertised to be worth £4.90. She arrived at about 13:30, to find they had run out of any hot food, and there was a solitary motley sandwich, and small yogurt pot that might satisfy a 3 year old. I suppose their "get out of gaol free card" is: subject to availability. This sort of thing does more damage to a company's reputation than not offering something for free. Debenhams does not appear to have maintained its brand image the same way as other department stores, and subsequently suffers. At it's peak it was a proper department store with concessions selling musical instruments, computers, and all of the other things you would associate. It now carries perfumes and cosmetics, clothing, and a small homeware section. The perfum section competes poorly with the likes of Superdrug and the Perfume Shop, and the homeware section contains such a limited range of goods that the local Tesco eclipses it in usefulness. A spacious, large store with a cafe upstairs. The cafe sells a small range of meals, cakes and drinks. Food is nice, though very expensive for what it is. Downstairs is homewares, and disabled entrance to outside the shopping centre. Theres a lift to access the other floors, or you can use the escalators. On the 2nd (ground) floor is mens clothes, beauty counters, and jewellery. On the top floor is the cafe, early learning toys, childrens wear and womes clothes. The staff varys from area to area, though most are helpful and friendly, a few can seem stuck up. read more

This is a large store, spread over 3 floors. Downstairs you have homeware, electricals and luggage. Good variety, many different ranges. On the next floor, you have the premium beauty counters, such as Clinique, YSL and Elizabeth Arden, the perfume section, women's shoes, menswear and women's accessories (handbags, jewellery etc). Finally on the top floor there is the childrens wear, womens wear including lingerie, and the cafe. The cafe is good for snacks and drinks. Throughout the store, there are some great Designers at Debenhams ranges, which are reasonably priced compared to individual designer stores. My only negative is that the store can be very warm and stuffy, not good when you're shopping for clothes etc read more

this is a large store with plenty of choice, they also go through the seasons and have plenty of choice in winter/smmer. when i went last year they had a wedding counter which i thought was brilliant, they sold tiaras, jewelry and other accessories for your big day at affordale prices. there is also a clean, tidy and spacious resturant that always serves hot fresh food but a little pricey read more

Love going into debenhams and looking at all the different perfume's and makeup, the ranges they have are great and you could spend hours looking around. Major issue however the arrogance of the other staff members. They evidently are paid a lot, you can tell it by looking at them from a mile away, layered in perfect makeup, smelling of expensive perfume and hair that looks like they've just come straight from the hairdressers. Only problem is, these women KNOW they look like that and they show it in their personalities. I feel embarrassed to go in there without makeup or even if i haven't recently sprayed myself with my dior perfume! Tip for Debenhams, have a word with your staff about being more approachable. read more

I always feel like I should have a fake tan and smell of expensive perfume to fit in in this place. The 'shops' inside are good and well stocked too but the staff are quite snooty Maybe it's just me but I don't feel comfortable shopping here and often go elsewhere just to save myself the embarrasment of being looked down on. (Okay, they propbably are lovely staff, but really, thats how i feel.) read more

This is an avergae department store and is expensive, always busy and pretty bland. It has a good selection of products for a departments store but it is not a place I would shop regularly. read more
