The first big shock was they wanted to charge $500 to drive my mother from their memorial offices a few hundred feet to her grave. When they agreed to lower the fee they said we could use the office van instead of the hearse. They finally decided on the hearse on the day of her funeral. The one request my mother had before she died, which we shared with Memorial Funeral Home, was to be buried under the shade of a tree. We asked to see plots near trees. Memorial guaranteed my mother would be buried under the tree we chose. Memorial said they could not guarantee what would happen to the grounds fifty years or more in the future, but that in the near future, my mother would have her tree. Horribly, one year later, the tree has been removed to make room for more graves. We would have chosen a different park if we knew of their plans. Extremely disappointing!

However, after contacting him via telephone at least 4 different times as well as sending emails, we have yet to receive either document or any form of communication from him. Every time I contact Mr. Woods, I get essentially the same response that he's currently busy with another matter and will contact me within a few hours. He has not contacted me once by telephone and has not responded to the email I sent. The total lack of communication is very unprofessional. It shouldn't be necessary for families to constantly pursue routine documents, such as death certificates. I truly hope he does better on both communication and customer service. Empathy, respect, and dependability are required when working in an area where people support families during some of the hardest moments in their lives. The final thing a grieving family member wants to experience is added stress and aggravation due to lack of follow through.
