She often missed appointments that she scheduled, or ran very late without providing any notifications. She never took the time to provide feedback for how my child was doing and gave many contrasting guidelines. For example, she stresses how she is not an expert witness, yet she cancelled an appointment once because she was called to testify in court. I suppose there is a price for everything. I would often ask for resources and the books she recommended were not helpful. She gave me a referral to another counselor at the center to help with additional challenges my child was facing and the other therapist never got back to me when contacted. I have interacted with other clients who have repeatedly complained of how poorly run their appointments were. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for help.

All of a sudden, billing practices were changed without any notice, transparency went down the hole, and correspondence with anyone other than the therapist did not exist. In fact, I'd say the office went as far as to exacerbate some of my issues by being clearly unsympathetic and focused primarily on making a dollar. My therapist was new to the practice, and quite understanding, but couldn't avoid the bureaucracy of the administration. Seemed like there wasn't much support from above. When it was time for me to end my relationship with Leeward, no attempt to communicate was made until I prompted confirmation.

Almost pleading, I explained that both my husband's parents and my parents live in Hingham, that we grew up here and actively live here, and that we will be more than able to meet with her every year for an annual check up as we are explicitly and exclusively Hingham-based...I explained that the only issue is that we are leaving town in a month (for the summer) and are hoping to get an appointment in with her before our departure. She refused us an appointment because she was stuck on the idea that we are relocating for the summer and may never come back?? (I know my Yelp profile says I am based in San Fran...never been there in my life, just tried to fix the setting and don't know why it says that lol). I was compassionate towards her secretary who had to be the middle-man through this whole unkind interaction, parroting Dr. Niklas' withholding and illogical reasoning, but, after growing up in this town and seeing its darker sides (classist, discriminatory), this felt reminiscent and very "Hingham" (in a pejorative sense).
