It was really nice as expected: historic house and gardens, well maintained. For quality and amenities it's more on the level of a nice B&B, with a generous cafe just a short walk away (but not in winter!). Staff were kind and upgraded our room when the small room we checked in somehow had a messed bed. Generous parking and much of the main sites are drivable. I'd love to come back in another season!

I did my best to move most of them. You can see the staff just ran over them with there quads while on patrol, lol. Not much flora from mushrooms to birds to animals wild flowers. The U of I torn down the "tea house" that the original owner was disguised with that act. With all the houses on the property why did not the U of I make a beautiful creation like they do on campus to restore history. They might have some events that are cool, but grounds not taken care of at least get some goats. If you like easy snooze trails, this if your hike, nothing here is even a moderate level, all easy. Many improvements over the past year associated with new lights for walkers and camp site…read moreelectrical upgrades to 30 and 50 amp service. Unfortunately, the electrical upgrade to the campground was delayed until March/April of this year instead of being done in the fall of last year. Now the camping sites are in the process of trying to grow new grass as the sites are being used. While the electrical upgrades were needed and appreciated, the need for a previously discussed lighting upgrade within the campground has not been completed and poses an additional Safety Hazard to occupants of each upgraded site beyond that which already existed. Finally, Daily rates were increased from $17.00/site last year to $25.00 (30 amp) or $30.00 (50 amp) for the 2022 camping season. Longtime and dedicated Friends Creek campers feel that such a drastic cost increase is not justified and in fact, will have A negative impact to the 2022 season. Many of the dedicated campers have already started using other local campgrounds that provide better lighting, larger wash facilities, numerous playgrounds and local restaurants, and for a substantial decrease in daily rates.

They had clear signs for the dog relief areas and the bathrooms were for humans were clean and stocked. Our dog enjoyed the walks and the opportunity to stretch her legs. There are a couple vending machines selling Pepsi products and some snacks. It's definitely a decent spot for a stop during your travels.
