I had tried every version I could buy on Amazon and none of them fit. My 9 year old got me into skateboard a few years back. I recently got some decks second hand and needed trucks, bearings, and hardware too. They had everything I needed in stock for almost the same price as online. I was super stoked to get everything same day in their skate shop and also happy I found a helmet that actually fit! Got to take a look inside the park, very excited to try it out with my kids. This is a very nice bike/skate park located between Youngs Creek Park and Province Park. It is one…read moreof the better ones that I have seen and is well maintained. It has about 7 structures for shredding including quarter pipes, spines, flat banks, half-pyramids, hips, fly boxes, ledges, and boxes, some of which are put together into some very interesting obstacle combinations. The park's mini ramp is about 6ft. tall and approx. 8ft wide The park has an ample amount of parking spots available and unfortunately is known for severe flooding. Even though the park dates back to 2008, it looks new, because technically it is. It had to be rebuilt a couple of times due to flooding. Thank goodness for insurance. The park is also very well maintained. The obstacles are constructed of ARC-sourced prefab steel. They are very sturdy. It should also be noted that it is not lighted, nor fenced in. They also do not have restroom facilities either. There is a picnic table off to the side of the park to sit and take a break or eat some lunch. I am what you would call a poser in the skate world, but I do know a good skate park when I see it. This is a very good skate park and I like it a lot. This is a destination action park, located in the small town of Franklin, right behind the police department, that I highly recommend checking out if you are looking for a nice place to shred.

The only negative I had was that I found all the fencing around the different sections of the park (tennis, aquatic area, and skate park) made it difficult to reach the other side of the park without driving out and around the neighborhood to the other side. So whenever I can, I like to place myself in the vicinity of skaters and leech from them their mellow, accepting vibes. Not unlike the witch from the film The Witch sucking the blood from a baby to maintain her youthfulness. Anyway. I had an opportunity to help pick up trash at Major Taylor Skatepark, and I jumped at the chance. To my surprise, there wasn't a whole lot of trash to pick up, because the skatepark is relatively clean. I get the feeling that the people who use the skatepark respect it and the people who use it. I saw lots of skaters out that day, from adults to toddlers, using the skatepark and having a good time. If you want to feel happy, just hang out at Major Taylor for a while. It was good to see so many people out on a nice day, being active, getting along, doing something fun together and alone all at once.

Highly suggest this place if you just want to get outside and do something free for an hour or so.

Interestingly enough, they have a skate park here, which I thought was neat. The playground is also nice, but a bunch of the slides are made of metal. The walking trails are also quite nice as well. The main reason that I come here for is the disc golf course. Although I've only done two courses, that being this and the one at Cumberland Park at the time of writing, so I still haven't been to many courses. The front 9 are really nice, as 4 holes wrap around a lake, and 3 are in a wooded area. The back 9 are in a mostly open area, and there's a creek that runs alongside a couple holes. The landscaping in that part of the course could use some attention. However, it's still a nice park to visit. Also, the lake and creek can 'eat' your disc if you aren't aware.

Sometimes, the simplest things entertain kids the most, and my kids were entertained for quite a while with just four things to play on. The slide is one of those tall, super slippery jobs that launch you off of it and onto the ground straight on your butt. Then there's the geodesic dome with the chipped paint. And then there are two climbing things: one is kinda like monkey bars, and the other if shaped like some animal. The ground is wood chips, so it's softer than solid ground when falling off the slide (and you will fall off -- I'm telling you, it launches you off).

Restrooms, some with colorful murals on the buildings, are also available during the warmer months. Shelters are also available for gatherings, some with grills. This is a nice small park located in Lapel. It is a decent sized park with a small private parking…read morelot. It is a very well maintained park and is home to a small skate park with a ramp, steps and rails. There is also a decent sized playground that is lined with wood chips. Some of the playground's equipment includes a metal slide (oucchhh), a bank of worn traditional/toddler swings, a see-saw, a tunnel tube, a balance board, a climbing tree, and standing spinner. The equipment is older for the most part, but is still in pretty decent shape. You will also find a large black top near the back of the park that has a small shelter with a couple of picnic tables under it. The black top also has 2 half basketball courts. The black top is in fair condition. The park has a small black top area between the playground and the skate area that can be used to play hopscotch, four square or other blacktop games. The park has a few green space areas that could be used for pick up football games, soccer matches, or have a picnic. There are 3, decent baseball fields on the parks back perimeter. They appear to be used for the towns little league teams and not actually part of the park. I will admit, this is not a destination park, but is a cool place to visit if you are in the area looking for a place to hang out. It was a nice day during my visit and I found the park very peaceful (minus the kids at the nearby school yelling while they were playing at recess).

The park is filled with mature trees for shade and the playground is located near the paved parking area along with the primary shelter. Adults can easily view the playground from the comfortable seating at the shelter. The playground has lots of pieces including swings, slides, tubes, and a fort. Lots of things to climb on too. Overall, the park was well maintained and clean and seems like the kids who were enjoying the warm weather were having a blast. Review #2445
