So I called to schedule the trial for this past Monday (20$). We got to the class about 10 minutes early as the employee on the phone stated that they would give me a tour. We got there and the girl at the front desk seemed clueless and really wasn't helpful at answering any questions. Then, two teachers came out at the same time for two different classes, which made it very confusing for the amount of adults and children that were in the waiting area. As we did not get a tour, I was unaware that there was no seating area for the parents to watch their children as my child is just about to turn three and was in the 3 to 4 year-old moving class. So, they all lined up at the entry door and started marching towards the classroom. At that point I realize that parents were not allowed and children began yelling and crying, and my daughter got very nervous. So I then followed them to the room where they closed the door and there was kids left crying on the floor and teachers, grabbing children to carry them back into the room. Me and another mom were not happy about this experience as it was not presented to us before we signed our children up for this class. They need to better prepare the parents that this class the children have to go in alone for 45 minutes without seeing their parents. I then proceeded to go down the hallway to take a peek through the blackout glass to see how my daughter was doing and got told by one of the ladies working there that I needed to leave because the children can see me. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to leave when my daughter is nervous and there are girl crying on the floor for their moms. Plus, she was not prepared that she would be without me for this class. So, 45 min later, the children walked out and we were not told anything about the class. My daughter came out and started crying. How do you expect a three year-old to tell you whether or not they enjoy the class and what they did? So, my husband went up to the front desk and asked questions as to if the teacher had any feedback or what the next steps were and again the front desk was clueless and had nothing to. I feel as though this experience was very unwelcoming and unprofessional, and I will not be going back nor do I recommend children ages 3 to 5 to come here.

Until these lessons my Husband and I could not dance together. The way we are able to connect on and off that dance floor now is all thanks to Jeff''s help. This experience is worth every single penny. The lessons are incredibly fun, the staff is talented and encouraging. I can't recommend this experience enough, honestly. My husband and I took these lessons for our first Dance for our wedding- which was incredibly wowing- but received so much more. Now our first dance was beautiful. Jeff made sure it was elegant and exactly what we wanted. It brought our family to tears watching us on the dance floor for our first dance, to be honest the experience was better than I could have ever imagined. Attended my first mosaic workshop here with a few friends and was amazed at the results…read more First off this is located at the Stutz building, on the third floor, quite near the elevator, so it's not that hard to find. There are plenty of paid parking lots and street parking available around the area. Keep in mind that street parking is free on Sundays. Communication is outstanding, with reminder e-mails, detailed maps on how to find the studio, where to park and after your class instrutions on applying the grout. But let's get to the classes. Currently this location "only" offers Turkish Mosaic Lamp workshops. However, you can choose your type of lamp, or just a globe or candleholder. Entirely up to you and your budget. It is not cheap, but neither are the materials needed. You will be seated at a tablel with seemingly endless mosaic glass options in so many great colors, it's going to be tough to choose a color combination. There are a few suggestions on their website as far as color combinations go. And of course you will need to decide what type of pattern you will be creating. Another tough decision. You will get a two-sided sheet with various patterns you could follow, or you can feel free to create your own. Our instructor was Kurt, a most patient man, as I dragged about a dozen of folks with me as usual and there were a couple of other folks besides our group and with that every last seat was taken. He answered question after question and refilled bead and glass shapes continuously. Showed us how to glue things in place, made suggestions, helped here and there with project gone awry and somehow still managed to share a bit about his home country of Turkey. There are little lit platforms where you can check what your lamp will look like when completed, and also an actual lamp you can hold your masterpiece to and get a better idea. Once you are done with your pattern, you get to create your own mix of tiny glass beads and apply those in all the 'free' spaces. then you are done with studio time. You are given grout and instructed on how to apply this once your project has reasted at least 12 hours. (you will also get an e-mail the next day, reminding you and a link for the instructions again). You will also get your lamp part , if you chose to make a lamp, and the bulb to go with it. All is neatly in a nice sturdy bag so you can add your globe and your grout to it also and have it all together in one place. Highly recommend this experience and I am hoping that they will add some of the different workshops that are offered at other locations. Fingers crossed.

I was hanging out in the Beech Grove area today for a bit of a change of pace. I have a long…read moreweekend for Memorial Day, and I decided to try to visit some "new to me" businesses. I was wheeling on Main Street when Beech Grove Clay Works caught my eye. This is a storefront directly on Main Street. As you might guess, it's a ceramics studio. It's an adult community ceramics studio where members enjoy access to "instructional classes at all experience levels." They have as much as 40+ hours of open studio time a week - however, it's worth noting they do not offer walk-in classes or studio time. All classes are scheduled in advance, and only paid members can participate in the open studio times. There's a front gallery space, my primary interest today, where you can buy local and support indie artists. I saw everything from refrigerator magnets to kitchen wares to decor to quite a bit more. It was really quite impressive. The class and studio area is visible from the gallery, and it's also a quite impressive space. The front entryway is accessible, not always true in Beech Grove, and I was acknowledged when I entered. I believe the owner was in conversation with someone - perhaps a potential member or someone for an event - and I waited patiently for my turn while checking out the gallery. I stuck around 15-20 minutes. My turn never came. I'd grown interested in a couple items, however, I had some questions (including price, as these items were out of my reach). After waiting what felt like a reasonable time, I finally left without further acknowledgement and without a purchase. Buying local is wonderful, but that doesn't negate the requirement that you actually serve the customer. I'm actually pretty low maintenance, but if I'm not served I don't buy. Pretty simple. So, cool shop. Cool gallery. Great concept. Needs some work in the area of customer service. I may or may not be back.

My experience began when I signed my daughter up for Re-Generation Indy, a group of local artists that lead affordable art workshops and host Youth Art Shows around Indianapolis, using this space. For only $5, your child can spend a couple of hours getting creative and expanding their mind through with others. A Youth Art Show is scheduled on March 4th to highlight work done by participants in the program. We were roaming around the school thanking the teachers, learning about what the students accomplished during the summer and looking at art work when we were approached by a man. He asked if Gylani (my little 4 year old at that time) would like to continue her art program and that the art class she had during camp actually offered honors Saturday classes. I looked at her dad...we shrugged and signed her up...that was 2004-2005.... Gylani is now 14 and a starting freshman at North Central...and she is also a honors student at Art With a Heart. The knowledgeable caring teachers, the ability to work with different mediums of art, field trips and the family atmosphere has kept our family in the Art with a Heart Program. This not very well known program, this gem, deserves your support and if you know a child, especially one from a low-income household that loves art but doesn't have the resources to attend expensive costly classes, this is the organization for that child. The child will grow, be nurtured, be inspired and be taught how to be confident in their skills.

From the moment we walked in, we felt completely comfortable and welcomed. We started with a teaser lesson and ended up signing up for a package--and we're so glad we did! Our instructor, Summer was amazing. She was incredibly patient with us, even though we both have "two left feet," kept stepping on each other, and struggled to keep pace. Not once did she seem frustrated--just encouraging, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping us improve. By the end of the session, we felt more confident and excited to keep learning. She made us feel like we can actually get the hang of the basics in time for our event. If you're nervous about trying a dance studio, don't be.
