We really wanted to have a full redwood deck since that was what we were used to having and loved the feeling and look of wood. To our delight, Wagner made that happen for us. We had certain specifications we wanted for the deck, and again that was no problem for Wagner and his team. Throughout the entire process, there was direct and clear communication between the foreman Frank, Diiego our builder, and the whole Decks By Caio team. They arrived when they said they would arrive, and when they left each night, Diiego cleaned the work area so it was not a hazard for us or our dogs. When building the deck, Diiego made sure that the patterns on the wood flowed to produce a beautiful visual to the eye. From start to finish, working with Decks By Caio was a joy. Wagner and his team are stellar. We can't recommend them highly enough. We own a 50 year old home in the country, with an existing large (40'x13') deck in back above a walk-out basement and patio (the deck is elevated about 8 feet). The joists were starting to rot, so we knew it was time to replace it. After interviewing several builders, we settled on Decks by Caio. He walked us through the various options and some changes we'd like to make. We decided the new deck would be slightly larger (44'x14') to accommodate stairs at one end plus a long ADA-style ramp at the other running along the side of the house. We chose TimberTech PVC decking, which is attractive, durable, and highly fire resistant (a big deal out here) in a simple two-tone "picture frame" style, which looks gorgeous. Underneath, the decking is supported by steel joists atop some really beefy yellow cedar engineered beams. The difference in quality between the old deck and the new is night and day. If that was all I was judging on, this would still be a rave review. But, as I alluded to, there were some surprises along the way. The first was that the primary decking color we'd chosen was discontinued at just about the time we chose it. But Wagner was able to locate and obtain enough to complete our project, buying it ahead of time even though our project wasn't scheduled to be built for a couple of months. Another was that it was irrigation season here, which raises the groundwater level and caused the holes dug for the caissons to fill up with water. We had to wait a few weeks for the water level to subside before we could pour, and Wagner's team took additional precautions by adding a water barrier to help protect them The biggest surprise had nothing to do with the deck at all. Turns out that decades ago a previous owner had built an unpermitted addition to the house. We didn't know it, but the county spotted it when Wagner went to get the deck permit, and insisted on it being remedied. Wagner was able to get permission to start the deck while we went through the "as built" permit process for the old addition. He was a huge help, and even got his structural engineer to do the engineering assessment they required. There were enough issues with the addition that while the deck itself was finished in a matter of weeks, passing all the inspections too almost a year. Again, this had nothing to do with Decks by Caio - in fact, we had multiple inspectors compliment us on the deck while still finding "one more thing" that needed to be fixed in the old addition. It was a bit maddening, but Wagner and his team handled it all with patience, professionalism, and humor. The good news is that this means we've had nearly a year of enjoying the new deck before writing this review. It's still terrific, and once our budget allows, we are looking forward to working with Decks by Caio again to add a pergola and extend the patio as well. read more

Our near 30 year old 40' X 12' elevated deck needed repair and paint. After multiple conversations with deck experts, it became clear the deck needed replacing. We performed all the normal research via internet, county specifications, budgetary ranges and direct conversations with deck professionals. We selected Decks by Caio (DbC). Our selection was based on several factors: cost, options, lead-time, and contractor experience/knowledge. Wagner Ribeiro, DbC owner, clearly communicated all options, paid ALL costs (no money down or required until job completion), worked with our schedule, and represented a solid knowledge of deck building elements including detail county permit requirements. Like many, we have had our share of bad contractor experiences over the years. Wagner patiently answered all our many detailed questions, reviewed the contract line-by-line at our request, quickly provided proof of insurance/bond/license, showed us multiple renditions of our work and copied us on all permit documents submitted as well as exchanges with the county permit office. He promptly responded to all our calls, texts, and emails through the entire process. During the demolition of the old deck, it was discovered that the 55' X 11' patio below the deck needed to be replace threatening the deck completion schedule. Wagner offered a quote within comparable cost, high quality, schedule expectations and with the same "no payment up front" contracting terms. Contract was signed on a Friday and the crew was on-site Monday eliminating deck build delay. Wagner had three crews on our property: Deck, Patio and Cement. All individuals were professional, courteous, respectful, detail oriented and hard working (10+ hours a day). All large, complex jobs have their minor twist, turns and modifications. The crews kept us informed/involved of all activities, daily schedules, next steps and change options. All demolition and haul off was covered. Wagner and his team kept to their cost commitments and covered all changes. The results are fantastic. Over three weeks our property was transformed. The new deck is steel frame Trex fully approved by the county. The patio has extra strength, length and is graded appropriately. Decks by Caio was true to their word, to the permit, to the contract and to their cost commitments. We would highly recommend them to be considered for projects of this type. read more

I would define our new composite deck as reasonably priced, on schedule and solidly built (professionally engineered, PVC decking, steel joists, larger posts/beam, concrete footings). This thing is here to stay, and built to withstand the harsh foothills climate. Wagner is a busy guy, but he will communicate with you directly and make sure the project is done to your satisfaction. My husband and I had Wagner (of Caio) take care of some electrical work in our home this past January. I have only good things to report about my experience. Wagner listened, shared ideas, was cautious and conscientious. Most importantly, he double checked with me if he had a question. I had him replace two ceiling light fixtures with updated models, install a new ceiling fan (with remote) and remove our existing, out dated fan. Wagner also installed exterior safety flood lights. There was existing wiring but the fixtures were inexpensive and never quite worked adequately. Lastly, I had him switch out a fixture where the dimmer control had failed. The wall switch that Wagner wired our new ceiling fan to was a triple. It had always been warm to the touch. When we bought our home, we thought that there was an issue but nothing caught fire so we eventually forgot about it. Wagner went above and beyond to straighten out that poorly wired wall switch. It is no longer warm. I found Wagner's rates to be reasonable. Especially, considering what surprises he might encounter. My husband and I are the first, and only owners, of our home but yet there are probably quite a few things done haphazardly. The fact we got a quote that wasn't based on an hourly wage was a plus for us. More often than not, a simple project can have some kind of a domino effect and that can run the cost up quite a bit, if based on an hourly rate. There sometimes is a quirk that is unbeknownst to the home owner and certainly not a result of the person doing the repair. read more
