    LIVE EDGE WOOD SLAB
    D B.

After a few visits to DECOR DIRECT WHOLESALE WAREHOUSE, seeing some great live edge products, I decided to incorporate one in my next project. A tall 12' high accent wall. I drew up my plans with measurements and worked with Celeste and Anthony on a 4" thick, 8 1/2' long live edge slab of wood. There was some confusion on the width. But no problem, I could easily custom cut it to the install size. My original plan as a long shelf, was to take advantage of the deep gouge in the wood knot by pouring a beautiful blue epoxy. Then fully coat the entire shelf in a thick, clear 2 part epoxy. It's a great designer effect that draws attention. While preparing a full length 4" cut for the proper width of the shelf, we flip the heavy slab and discovered an incredible wood grain on the other side. Our plan just changed. This would now be the top surface. There was no way we could hide that beautiful hardwood grain on this living edge slab. The knot with the gouge will now be on the bottom. No waste here. The 4" x 8.5' cut was used as heavy duty shelf bracing on the installation. After sanding, the shelf surface received a latex stain to highlight the beautiful dark grain. The next several days were used to pour 4 clear coats of the 2 part epoxy. The results were excellent with a thick, clear bar top coating. The slab took 4 men to set in place. We installed multi-color stacked rock in the full arch wall cut out. Finally placing the huge 4K flat panel TV on an articulating wall bracket. With the down fired can lights, the dimmable LED's help the showcase the stacked rock and beautiful wood live edge shelf. Thanks to DECOR DIRECT WHOLESALE WAREHOUSE, this project turned out great. We've had several compliments from neighbors and friends. Several are waiting for the COVID-19 lock down to end so they can visit DECOR DIRECT. If you haven't visited DECOR DIRECT WHOLESALE WAREHOUSE, put it on your list. Look at their great live edge furniture and available wood slabs. Come up with some ideas on how you too can create a great project.

Do not buy their live edge tamarind wood products! It's highly likely the piece will be full of bugs. It happened to me! when I called the store I was told I should have known. No compensation!!! If you want to buy I STRONGLY suggest you ask what type of wood and if it is heartwood or sapwood. Then google the information to see if you are buying a type of wood that would likely have bugs in it. Buyer beware!!!!!!

Bought a new house and knew it needed a very unique dining table, and someone told me about Decor Direct. What a crazy place ... too much to look at ... sensory overload. However, when I went back with my husband, we got to looking at the live edge pieces of wood out back, and we just knew that was what we wanted. We found a piece that we felt would fit our unique space, and got it ordered. We were told it would take about 3 months, because of their schedule, and because they put 14 coats on it, to make sure it is in great shape for everyday use. At the three month mark I called to check on it and was told that the table was almost ready. They texted a few days later and said it would be delivered later that week ... which it was. I was not able to be at home when it was delivered, but I was in love when I got home and saw it. It is beyond stunning, and will be a talking point for many years! Because I wasn't here, I didn't get to find it the proper care, so I need to call Celeste and ask about that ... but I am beyond thrilled with the table. I'm waiting to go back around January and really spend a long time wandering around, because there is so much there to see!

Having been a small business owner myself I truly hate to give another small business a bad review. Alas, there are exceptions to everything. Six months ago I purchased a beautiful dining table made from reclaimed wood. We paid $975 for the table and purchased another item with it for $395. There were obvious imperfections, gaps, and even a few holes on the table when it was in the showroom but no split wood at that time. Neither Celeste or anyone else at the store gave us care instructions, nor did they discuss the possibility of the reclaimed wood splitting at some point down the road. They should have set the expectation that this could happen. That's customer service 101. Several weeks ago we noticed a few pieces of the wood were splitting at the points where nails were used to attach the surface to the base. This is not normal temperature and humidity related shrinkage and expansion of wood, or from usage of the table which has been used less than a handful of times. This is a direct result of nails, or whatever they used, placing stress on the wood and causing it to split. You can't convince me that the builders/crafters didn't realize there's an excellent chance of this happening with reclaimed wood. If they didn't then they should have. Or are they just some guys and gals having fun in a warehouse with leftover wood looking to make a quick dime by selling to an unsuspecting public? After going to the store in person and speaking with Celeste and showing her pictures, I conclude they do in fact know and they just don't care. Her first response was I must have done something wrong like placing the table in direct sunlight or directly underneath an air conditioning vent. Once I assured her neither was the case she told me she could have someone come out and give me an estimate for repairs. No responsibility was taken for the fact that the workmanship used to build the table is clearly not appropriate for reclaimed wood. No responsibility was taken for the fact that she didn't tell us this could potentially happen. No responsibility for failure to give us the proper care instructions upon purchase or delivery (after reading them today, I can attest there was nothing we did or didn't do to cause the damage). It was immediately apparent that all she was going to do was put me in contact with someone who could repair the table at my expense but I confirmed that before I walked out just to be sure. As I was walking out she told an employee, in the presence of another customer, that I didn't want to be helped. She also gave me the obligatory and blatantly phony "have a nice day" and a smile. Basically "---- you" with a smile. She didn't fool me with her insincere friendliness and small talk when I was making the purchases and she certainly didn't fool me today. She simply does not care. Here's just one of many articles I found online about properly attaching a wood table top to allow for shrinkage and expansion thus avoiding split wood. https://sawsonskates.com/wood-table-top-fasteners/

We were looking for bar stools for our new house and found the perfect set! The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating to my (slightly) OCD husband. SO happy with our experience and we will definitely be back!

Delivery was delayed as Ashley said they received only one mattress and had to wait for the second. Once delivery was made it became immediately evident that one mattress was thicker than the other. I was tempted to refuse delivery, but was told by their delivery person that these mattresses, which were shipped rolled up in a box, take up to 24 hours to fully expand. Well, "full expansion" never occurred and one mattress remains thicker than the other. Ashley did nothing until we filed a dispute with the finance company. Ultimately, they have sent a technician to the house twice, and have confirmed, on both inspections, that the mattresses are different heights. Ashley insists that they meet specification and will not correct. This leaves one side of a king size bed higher than the other. Our recommendation is to not buy from Ashley as their quality is questionable, and their customer support is non-existent. Should you elect to proceed with a purchase, please inspect thoroughly on delivery and refuse immediately if there are any problems/defects; otherwise getting your purchase corrected will be very difficult, if at all.

We received one power and one manual recliner. The manager and I played phone tag, and he ultimately never got back to me, so I paid for something I never received. I was not happy to pay for something I did not get the benefit of, but the one power recliner worked well and those chairs served us well until recently when they were just too old and needed replacing. When we were in the market for new recliners in October of 2024, the chairs we purchased in 2019 were no longer available. So, I purchased two identical power recliners (one of which is pictured (the store model, not our chair)) outright for $2,182,96 including tax and delivery charges. The chairs were delivered on October 19, 2024. One was used by my mother who had been in and out of the hospital three times since August. The other was used by my uncle who is in congestive heart failure and likes to sleep in a recliner to breathe easier. Neither chair's power feature felt right since they arrived; they always felt wobbly, if that makes sense. The power feature never felt sturdy like our 2019 power recliner from Furniture Warehouse. By November 2024 (a month after we purchased it), my mom's recliner broke. Last week, four months after we purchased it, my uncle's recliner broke. Neither one of them is strong enough to make the chair recline manually. I asked Furniture Warehouse to pick up both chairs and refund the full total I paid for them so I can start over and get my recovering mother and sick uncle reclining power chairs that will actually work. I see the negative reviews Furniture Warehouse has online, but I thought it more fair to reach out to them directly to see if they would help me rather than take to the internet. However, Maggie was zero help. I asked her to escalate. She escalated to Carol in Furniture Repair. Carol never told me what she does for Furniture Warehouse; I had to ask. She then proceeded to tell me the recliners would be repaired and she could do nothing else for me. In my opinion, Carol conveyed zero empathy and zero customer-service savvy. Before I became an attorney, I did customer service jobs and I always listened with compassion and tried to solve for customers' concerns. As an attorney, I do the same now with my clients. There was none of that with Carol. I, likely, would have been better off with GenAI helping me as it could have given me the same pat, gate-keeping responses Carol did. I explained to Carol that since both chairs were made poorly and both broke, common sense tells us that they'll break again after repair, and I need working recliners for recovering/sick relatives. I asked Carol to either pick them up and refund my money -OR- replace them with something that will work. She would do neither, so I asked to speak to a General Manager, but she would not allow me to talk to anyone other than those in the Furniture Repair department. Carol ended up hanging up on me. In 2019, I paid for a power recliner I never received and I never made a fuss with Furniture Warehouse after furnishing my entire house with them. Now, I ask them to help me after they sold me horrific quality products and they won't?! I see my business truly does not matter to them one bit, so I will no longer use Furniture Warehouse when I furnish my properties. I already reached out to orders@thefurniturewarehouse.com, so no need to give me your standard response with that email address as it was no help.

(At the time, we noticed a mark of some kind on one of the arms.) Tara, our sales person, told us that there were two of these in stock, and that we wouldn't have to wait for three month if we were okay with that color. So we had her write up the order for a new one, which was to be taken from their local stock. Delivery was to be made on Wednesday, and as it turned out, it was brought out a day earlier than that. Upon arrival, I noticed that the chair was not boxed as you would normally expect for a piece like this. The guys proceeded to carry it to the front porch where I asked to inspect it before taking it inside. I noticed that the piece was marked up in several places, with dents (or impressions) on the backside. And interestingly enough, there was a mark on the arm in the same place as the floor model. Hmm! Needless to say, I refused the delivery, and phoned Tara, explaining the situation, and asked her if they had sent out the floor model instead of a new one. She didn't know. So I asked if she could go back and look to see if the model was still there. Of course, she was too busy, but after pressing the issue, she reluctantly went back and looked. And sure enough the model was gone. I then asked if she would check and see if they had a new one in stock or not. She said she would look into it and call me back. I waited 24 hours, but no call back. Since it had already been too long of a wait, I ended up initiating a call from my end. Even after trying, I wasn't able to find out why we were sent a floor model without someone calling ahead of time to see if we would be okay with that, or since she was the one who sold the piece why she 'supposedly' wasn't told about it beforehand. I was also puzzled as to why the store manager never called us to try and make things right. She did apologize, I'll give her that, but then she went on to say, "there were much bigger problems in the world." I didn't disagree with that, but that certainly didn't explain her company's lack of integrity in working with us. Anyhow, we did agree on a charge credit, but what a horrible experience and time waster this was for us! You might want to think twice before giving this company your business.
