It's always a treat to check out grocery stores and markets in foreign countries, you get to see what local snacks, drinks, produce* and all sorts of brands and goodies you don't see at your local home demographic retailers.
To experience another country you have to experience their food and I'm a firm believer that starts with trying things at the grocery/market, street food and small mom and pop restaurant level.**
This was the third grocery/market and second local chain I went into in Naples, and found it a little of a tighter squeeze layout wise, probably bc it was in the historic district. Overall pretty clean though assortment was a little narrower due to size. Prices also seemed comparable to other markets.
They carried all the basic categories you'd expect, fresh produce, meat and dairy, refrigerated, frozen foods, dry and canned/packaged items, snacks and candy, drinks, alcohol, some general household goods.
*haha yes in that order, can you tell I care about snacks? :)
**sanitation levels being equal! I don't recommend getting ill for the sake of trying street food!
Also Michelin restaurants are great but to a degree you can be blown away by high end experiences anywhere depending on how much you want to pay for special ingredients and chefs. You kinda have to be on the ground to eat what the locals consider good food in a particular location. read more
