I flew in from another area and made a wrong reservation time with the massage parlor. After many calls to the massage parlor, I was not able to get through to speak to anyone on rescheduling. On the day of, the masseuse Claire Hawthorne billed me for an invoice due to incomplete appointment. I paid her and yet she called to complain, asserting the fact that she works very hard and going through a tough time. She highlighted that she was not pleased that I did not reach out to her prior to the appointment. I booked through the massage parlor app that does not have her personal information so I could not reach out to her. If I did have her information, I would call or email. She was incredibly unprofessional despite the payment was complete, and even hanged up on me when we tried to talk about the issue. read more

I emailed the day before leaving for a weekend trip to Ithaca, hoping they could get my boyfriend and I in for a couple's massage for his birthday. They emailed me back immediately the next morning saying they had spots, which I was ecstatic about. I talked to Liz and she had great costumer service and I was able to book an appointment right away. For our actual appointment, we were NOT disappointed in the least bit! It was truly such a fantastic way to start our trip. Dakota and Tom were incredibly attentive to our needs. They thoroughly went over our in-take form with us, and during the massage, were very communicative. Tom did my massage and was just AMAZING. He listened to my muscles and really worked what was needed. It was incredibly clean, relaxing, spa-like, comfortable, and all around just a positive atmosphere. Afterward, they asked how it was as we were paying and if there was anything they could improve on which I thought was extremely considerate. My husband and I had a couples massage here and it was really fabulous. We both left feeling totally amazing. They took such great care of us! We were both kind of a mess, full of areas that needed attention, and we both felt like every single issue was handled perfectly. I have never had a massage with someone that worked so hard before. I had a bunch of spots that needed lots of pressure, and she just totally went for it. I would be beyond exhausted if I did that for 90 minutes!! I also felt like she was extremely intuitive - she seemed to know exactly what I needed every step of the way. My shoulders in particular just always give me problems - and wow did she take care of them. I wanted to videotape it so I could show my husband so he could do that for me every day. Room was very nice and the heated blankets were excellent in this cold weather. Oh and using hot towels also felt like an extra special treat. Probably the best massage I have ever had!! We truly felt cared for, and can't wait to go back. The price is right too - we just can't afford the fancy spa places anymore - and this was a great way to go. read more

Over the past six months, I've had at least 10 massages at Deeply Devoted and can tell you that they are definitely worth it!! Where else can you get 90 minutes of deep tissue work for only $50/massage?!? If you're going through a rough patch in life (graduate school anyone?) and need to treat yourself like royalty then I highly recommend a weekly massage with these guys. Marcie (the owner) is incredibly responsive by email for setting up appointments, and in one case even got me in on incredibly short notice on the same day! In general though, this is a relatively small business and I would recommend emailing at least a week in advance of when you want your appointment. As later afternoon appointments are very popular, you might even need to email earlier in advance. As for the massage itself, as a customer I prefer deep tissue work with a fair amount of pressure. Marcie was incredibly responsive to my preferences, setting me up with a massage therapist (Liz) who has worked to create custom experiences each and every time I come in. I would highly recommend Liz to anyone who really likes the knots in their back/calves/etc to have some relief. She has worked tirelessly for 90 minutes on all sorts of problem spots for me!! Marcie herself is also a pro at this type of work, and although I haven't worked with Ann myself, my husband really enjoyed his massage with her as well. Needless to say, I don't think you can go wrong with this bunch. A massage from Marcie at Deeply Devoted is as good as it gets. Having not had a professional massage before, I went there a few months ago because of recent back pain from my new job. What made the massage so amazing is that she not only really listened to what I had to say about where my soreness and stiffness was, but she focused on areas during the massage that she could feel needed more attention. I've since gone two more times, and each time I feel that she has totally rebuilt and restructured my body and back. The massages are thoughtful, intense, deep, warm, and strong. It really feels like she is able to massage through the skin and into the muscles. Afterwards, she'll tell you what she noticed during the massage, what parts of your body are tense, inflamed, etc, and she'll give you good advice on how to help prevent that tenseness on your own time too! for a truly professional massage, you can't beat the price. But price doesn't matter; the massage from Deeply Devoted will leave you feeling refreshed, strong, and limber. read more

Marci at Deeply Devoted is wonderful. I felt really balanced and healthy after my massage there. She took the time to ask questions and give special attention to my problem back/ shoulder spot. I spend a lot of time hunched over my desk at work but an hour with her left me feeling like I'd just taken a 2-week lazy beach vacation: relaxed and refreshed! Marci is a good communicator and really receptive & responsive to my needs. The small studio was super comfy. I took advantage of the cafe below by enjoying a hot cup of tea afterward. I've had several massages in spas, on vacation and at local studios, but this was among the best - especially for the price! The same amount of table time is almost twice the expense at most full service spas... and often not as good. read more

I am writing this review for a series of massages I had at DDM over the last half a year or so. Now that I've gone to a few other massage therapists around Ithaca I feel better informed to write a valid review. In total I believe I've gotten 4 massages here, 2 from Liz, 1 from Thomas, and 1 from Kelsey. I'll briefly review the place as a whole and then mention each therapist. Over the time I went to DDM, I came with some set of issues that included tight neck/upper back muscles, shoulder and neck pain and spasms, and low back pain. I usually ask for these to be addressed through the means of deep tissue and trigger point work as my experience is that this is what works. As a whole, I've found the massages here to be decent, but relative to the price for a massage (70/hr), I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend who needed genuine relief from tight and spasming muscles. This is because the therapists as a whole don't seem very competent at performing deep tissue work and really identifying and releasing areas of muscle tension. (As an aside) the studio itself is comfortable and everyone was quite friendly and helpful so that's not an issue. I'd say the best massage I got was from Thomas. He seemed to listen to what I said was ailing me the most out of any of the therapists and he spent the most time addressing my problem areas. Still, I found it wanting in terms of pressure and his ability to find and release my deeper holding patterns and muscle tension. I found Liz's massage to be of a similar quality to Thomas's but she spent a considerable amount of time working on totally unrelated areas (for instance, with spasm under my scapula, working on forearms and legs and spending not much time actually working on the latissimus dorsi, subscapularis, and rhomboids). Kelsey admittedly told me that deep tissue wasn't her forte, but I came in last minute so I can't really complain here. She was attentive but like Liz spent a lot of time working on unrelated fronts. All in all, I would probably come here for a more 'spa' experience type massage, but if you're looking for a more substantial, focused myofascial release type of massage I can't say that I recommend this place. read more

Sometimes I like the extra spa amenities, but most of the time, what I really need is someone to get those knots out and help me feel better and that is exactly what this wonderful business has done for me. Massage is one of my new discoveries. My wife became interested in it, and we began making appointments with some of the many massage therapists in town. We tried the large, assembly line spas and a few of the individual therapists. We felt like Goldilocks, the spas were "too big" and the individuals were "too small." I am happy to report that we have finally found a massage studio that is "just right"! At Deeply Devoted there is a selection of massage therapists and a wide range of massage services available. We've had individual massages with both Marcie and Katie - each caring and skilled therapists. They seem to know where I hurt just by touch! I never feel rushed or like "just another number". They have taken the time to know me, what I want from a massage, and I get it, every time. It's also really easy for us to get to, right on the Commons, and they are very reasonably priced. My wife and I have each signed up for their "Deep Devotion" package, which gives us a weekly massage at almost half price! read more

My husband surprised me with an hour long couples massage here one evening a few months ago. I have had massages at high end spas but never felt so comfortable or so completely relaxed. The ladies at deeply devoted were just perfect. They listened to me and I left feeling so much better. It was my husband's first massage ever and he felt comfortable there too. Initially, I found Deeply Devoted because they were offering a special $45/hour massage through a Downtown Ithaca Alliance brochure. I was lured in by the good price and keep coming back for the amazing massages. I suffer from migraines and have been seeing Marcie almost weekly for hour-long head/neck/shoulder massages. She is nothing short of a miracle worker. I walk in with a headache and leave feeling like I've been transported to another world right in the middle of the Ithaca Commons. Her space is not fancy like some of the spas in town, but it's absolutely perfect for those who don't want the showy spa experience and just want an excellent massage in a nice, comfortable, immaculate space with calming music and a real professional. I came to ithaca for the weekend and was trying to find the massage studio and texted the cellphone twice before I heard back 24 hrs later. She said I could go to the studio at a certain time I showed up she wasn't there. Overall terrible customer service the owner is a total flake. Zero stars. read more
