There are two main places to pull off the road - a huge flat spot near the pond, and a parking lot towards the eastern end of the property. It's an easy walk up the hill to a viewpoint where you can look down at the birds. Trails are well maintained, and walking is a pleasure here. Our last visit was during a government shutdown, and we were happy to see that the restrooms near the parking lot were both open and being maintained. This park has a great vibe and really expresses the culture and history of the area. Just a short…read morewalk across the creek bridge from historic Silverton's main street shops and restaurants. You can hear the babble of the small brook as your kids play in the park. The children have so much fun at this local Silverton Park they don't even notice when it starts to sprinkle on their heads nor do they care. As you can see from the photos the local residents take great pride in this park I do recommend spending a morning or afternoon.

We arrived early and there was only one other car in the parking lot. The beginning of the hike we did was like hiking on a mowed path in a field, but then we got into the woods and it was great! The paths are well maintained and easy to follow. We only saw 2 other people when we were there- it was peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed it.

This is one if the coolest free city parks ever! There are a few different areas of the playground…read morewith a really tall play structure for older kids, and small play structures for littlest kids. There's also a climbing wall, zip line kinda thing, and a really big sand lot with a volcano-kinda thing in the middle that is deceptively difficult to walk up because the sand makes it slippery! PLUS there's a splash pad water fountain wet area! That part is not open year round. I mean it's open, but the fountains aren't running in the winter. All this is surrounded by covered picnic tables, very large grassy areas, walking paths covered by trees. Car parking. Bicycle parking. Clean bathrooms. Friendly clientele. We entered from the east side of the park where there is pedestrian access. On the west side of the park near the vehicle entrance, there is a skate park! And 4 half basketball courts, plus a boulder, I guess for bouldering.

While visiting McMinnville we stopped at a park by the library and it stated that dogs were not…read moreallowed so we looked online at the Parks and Rec website and were directed to the Riverside Dog Park. The first section had bark ground covering and a few trees and benches. I am not comfortable with my dogs walking on bark because of the possible splinter factor and it just doesn't seem as comfortable. So we walked farther on to the grassy area which was a lot nicer but it didn't have many trees and there were no benches to sit at. There were a few places for dogs to get drinks and a couple of plastic pools to take a doggie dip in. There were large trash receptacles which were a welcome sight. A lot of parking out front and a potter potty nearby if needed.
