Also some of the camping spots have zero shade and or privacy. So while the facilities are clean and nice, do be selective on the spot you get. I would happily come here again with friends but not a place I would come to on my own as it feels very exposed.

She said one lap is about 30 minutes and enough to get her heart rate up. It was a beautiful sunny day, and people were out playing ball. We started our walk around the nature trail of grasses, wildflowers, blackberry bushes and deer tracks and noticed a woman enjoying a book by herself. As we continued, we passed a couple of bike trails. There's an extreme track for advanced riders seeking a challenge, and a smaller track for beginners. Just around the bend lie a large soccer field, with a game in action, and what used to be the entrance to the park. It's been expanded recently, and now includes a couple of baseball fields, a family picnic area, and a larger bathroom to accommodate guests. As we passed the soccer field and approached the end of our lap, we observed families cheering baseball players in lawn chairs outside of the gate. Most people wore masks in public, and it was much appreciated.

You definitely need a capable car because some uphill parts are rough and slippery (almost lost traction). The hike down is a bit steep and slippery but there are ropes to help. Tip: Bring gloves! After reaching the bottom, just follow the stream to the beautiful waterfall. We had a picnic there and it was so chill. There are no trash cans here,please take your trash with you. I felt like being at a childhood summer camp with the hiking and climbing. The water was too cold to swim this time, but I'll definitely be back during the summer!

There are two main places to pull off the road - a huge flat spot near the pond, and a parking lot towards the eastern end of the property. It's an easy walk up the hill to a viewpoint where you can look down at the birds. Trails are well maintained, and walking is a pleasure here. Our last visit was during a government shutdown, and we were happy to see that the restrooms near the parking lot were both open and being maintained. This is a simple yet nice state park- there isn't much parking, just a few spaces, but I went…read moreduring the week on an overcast day so it wasn't busy at all. The restrooms are brand new (sticker said 2021,) the trails are well maintained and easy, and it is right by the Willamette River. Not a lot of trash and random people hanging out, though I did see the cap of a needle (at least if someone was shooting up, they picked up their needle.) Lots of wild animal scat, which made me wonder what sort of wildlife I would see during the early morning and evening hours- it appeared to be bobcat and coyote, though I saw some that looked oddly like black bear. The hike's aren't terribly exciting, but it's easy and probably good for kids or people that don't particularly like hiking.
