Deer Creek Village is not a dog park as some of the reviewers lead you to believe. It actually is a shopping center that just happens to have a dog park off in the corner of the grounds. This shopping center has several retailers, places to eat, etc. There's Friedman's, Dunkin' Donuts, Mary's Pizza, Rubio's, Habit Burger, Jamba Juice, Exchange Bank, Smart & Final, City Sports Club,The Nail Bar for those looking for a manicure, Petaluma Hair Company for those needing a hair cut, trim, color, etc., as well as DeVita Dialysis and Sutter Health Plus. There's various art pieces around the shopping center as well as the dog park. The dog park is a great asset to the City of Petaluma as people need places to take their dogs to walk, play and interact. And for those with an electric/clean car there are specific parking spots around the center as well as charging stations for you to charge your car. There is plenty of parking throughout the center. Yes there seems to be more places to eat then shop but since there are several vacant buildings I'm sure they will fill up sooner or later (hopefully sooner). read more

Great place to let your dog roam in an enclosed well maintained park. Free bags and lots of benches to sit. No shade though. And lots of trash cans. Right off 101 next to City Sports Club. Highly recommend coming on Tuesdays during the summer for the farmers market with all local Petaluma farms. read more

So happy there is a fully fenced dog park in Petaluma. Has a large area with wood chips surrounded by an even larger area of open space that is also within the fenced perimeter. There are bags for waste and several receptacles throughout. There are benches as well. My "boys" (2 Labrador Retrievers) are going to love it here! This is based in the new Deer Creek Village shopping area (the complex with Friedman's) on North McDowell Road. This is an awesome, little dog park in the new Deer Creek Village Plaza! There are nice benches, doggy bags, and water fountains. Beautiful view of the hills too. One cool feature that sets this one apart from the other dog parks in town is that it is fully fenced. For dogs who are jumpers, the height might be an issue. The few times I've been there it was clean and nicely maintained. Very cool addition to Petaluma! read more

Very muddy a day after it rained. The surface is dirt with a thin later if bark so it's really gross. There are no dry or paved surfaces to walk on. There are also mud ponds that my lab ran right into and since we staying at a dog friendly hotel I had to take him to Petco for a bath. The park is about two acres but it's very plain. There is a water fountain and bag dispensers. It's also right next to the freeway so it's easy to get to you if you driving through town. I do like that you can park right next to it and see your car from everywhere in the park. read more

We had a blast here with our two girls. Other dogs and people were friendly, and I feel secure since it's fenced and double gated--no accidentally losing track of them! There's a nice walking track for people to exercise while the dogs walk. We will definitely be going back! read more

Its nice. But my yorkie didnt really feel comfortable. I think it s the big poodles... They scared her. The place it nice though and clean. So i usually walked her around the walking trail there. ... Plus it is next to my favorite gym .. so that is convenient. read more

I have so wished for a fenced-in dog park in Petaluma.....I forgot to be specific in my wishing. I need a segregated small-dog area. My little guy has had the b'jesus scared out of him by a couple of big dogs in his life and is now freaked out around them. Dogs his own size on the other hand...HEAVEN! I think he'd be fine with a big dog or two if there was a nice sized pack of smaller dogs around (15lbs give or take). Does anybody know a time of day when we are more likely to get lucky in that regard? Otherwise the place looks awesome and I'm very happy for those who can take advantage of it! :-) read more

This shopping center is coming along nicely. A good variety of restaurants. The new dog park is a nice addition to Deer Creek Village. It's completely fenced and has benches and water. Pretty views of the hills in the distance. You don't even have to own a dog to enjoy it! read more

Beautiful new park with a nice circular trail for us to walk while the dog romps. It IS right next to 101 and if I were the owner, I would be installing much taller fences. I like that it's kind of a hidden gem - you have to know where you're going to get there. Let's hope it stays as nice and clean as it is right now.... read more

This is a great dog park, new, clean, well maintained......except big warning if it has rained! There is a large central play area that is very well covered in wood chips, but to the right is a huge open area that is weeds and bay clay which not only turns to mud, it sticks to your dogs feet, your shoes anything. I had to plastic bag my shoes just to be able to drive out of the gravel lot and over to where I could scrap off the clay mud on the asphalt and I still had to soak my shoes to get the clay/gravel out when I got home. But worse were my poor dogs feet! She had run through this sticky mud, when we got home I left her on the deck thinking it would flake off, 1/2 hour later it was hard as a rock, including tiny rocks all glued in between her toes. We had to soak her feet in warm water, and then scrub with a brush/shamppo and pull the hardened clay lumps from between her toes and out of her fur and scrape it off her toenails it was such hard clay. Water alone doesn't dissolve this clay. read more
