They picked up my bags for me, and we began our ride from the airport to their inpatient facilities in Draper, UT. When I arrived, I had no idea how long I would be there. But I had agreed that I was willing to take as long as necessary, and to devote myself with all I had to do what was necessary to save my life. What followed included weeks of inpatient treatment, transition to one of their sober living houses, a few months of outpatient treatment, and then, finally, when I was ready, transition back home to a new life filled with hope, faith, and courage. I could write a review about things like the excellent, professionally prepared meals, or the quality of the accomodations where I stayed, or I could write about other therapy-related aspects of the program like Yoga, or daily gym workouts. All those were amazing, and made life really enjoyable with a very high quality to it, but they all are footnotes compared to the experience and dedication of the staff, from the owner down to the night-shift techs I spent time with while I was there. My journey started at a hospital where staff-to-patient ratios were near 18-to-1. At Deer Hollow, it was closer to 2-to-1. In the hospital I felt like a number, waiting to be processed. Deer Hollow is by far the best treatment facility I have encountered. After suffering a 4 year opiate addiction, in and out of multiple outpatient and residential treatment centers that did not seem to work, I was ready to give up hope. That was until I found Deer Hollow... a recovery center unlike anything I had ever experienced. From day one, the therapists and staff made me feel comfortable and safe. I could talk to them about anything and everything and never once felt judged. I never thought I would be the person that went to rehab but when I ended up with two dead front teeth at the U of U hospital shaking from alcohol withdrawal I realized I may need more help. Deer Hollow answered the phone and got me in, I am now over 2 years sober and so grateful. I will admit there were days I wanted to leave, give up, quit! I stayed at both Deer Hollow residential as well as their sober living houses. The staff at Deer Hollow really changed my life and perspective. I came in feeling completely broken.
