Kids (and adults) will love scrambling on all the large rocks. Adults with enjoy the beauty of creation. And if you are brave enough, you will find a cathedral-type cave at the end of your journey. You do have to squeeze to find it, but the trip back into the cave is worth it--just be careful of any low hanging bats (lol!). My wife and I have lived in NWA for 5+ years and we do this hike at least once a year. Sometimes just us, but usually with a group and no one has ever complained about the distance or that they were bored. So good! I love this hike and I know you will too!!

This is one of several cave systems in North Central Arkansas. We have visited War Eagle Caverns in…read morethe past and other caves throughout the US. It was very scenic, and caves do differ in their internal formations. Some have smooth walls and large open caverns. Some are more jagged with twisting, narrow passages. This was more of the latter. Word to the wise: steep stairs formed out of rock, passageways where a person had to lean sideways to pass through. I bumped my head on one and I'm short. Expect constant dripping from above due to 100% humidity, with wet walkways, stairs and railings. You could easily slip if not prepared. In fact our guide told us the back section of the cave had been closed to tours because it was now too slippery. We were able to see some bats at the end of the tour. As jagged caves go, it was impressive. Our guide's jokes felt scripted and forced. We found him not terribly friendly, and no one laughed. He did not seem to enjoy his job. Aside from that, it was an entertaining way to spend an hour and a half on the way to Eureka Springs.

I came away with no diamonds but some decent sized stones, one of which was amethyst. The first cavern was the big one. It had some beautiful formations. We received great information from our guide and a little history lesson. Be sure to wear shoes with good grip as the stone steps may be damp as you go lower. At the bottom of the second cavern, you are 110 feet below ground level. Again, wear the right shoes as it is damp. The formations were beautifully lit for your viewing pleasure. If you are visiting Branson, this is just a little more than 30 minutes on down the road!

A must see if you are traveling in Arkansas…read more We were staying in Hot Springs which was a 3 hr drive but it was totally worth it! They have two caves but we only did the mystic cavern one due to time. They closed at 5. They also have a pretty extensive gift shop filled with crystals and knick knacks. The tour lasted about 45 minutes. Make sure your shoes can get wet because the cave floors were damp and had puddles. It can also be chilly in the caverns. Amazing experience! P.S I have to say driving up the mountain to get here was a journey in itself! There were not many pit stops to use the restroom and the only real food place was subway which was about 30 minutes from the caverns. They have a small community in the mountains but it is small and not everything is always open. Beautiful drive up though. Not for the faint of heart if you are scared of heights because there are many drop offs where you see the valleys 1000 ft below.

On a road trip just after Memorial day we stopped in Little Rock Arkansas and got out on the river…read morewith Sam Ellis at Rock Town River Outfitters. Due to a big rain earlier, we could not take the trip we had signed up for, but he worked with us and got us out on a different nearby river. My son and I got what amounted to a private tour on the water. He's a knowledgeable guy and very nice. Little Rock is a very beautiful area and Sam took us pretty deep into it. We learned a lot of the history and the natural features of the area, got in a pretty good workout, and had a great time. Sam also does bike tours and will tour the Arkansas River in the downtown area on kayaks and can also go out on a barge. We would do everything with him if time permitted but we were only there for a day. Time permitting, we will be back there one day and I'm hoping sooner rather than later. If you're in Little Rock I highly recommend look up Sam Ellis at Rock Town River Outfitters.

Service over the phone and inside the River Market location was very helpful. Make sure to get the QR code for the river trail route on Google Maps! The bike I rented was the most basic one, but very comfortable and was a smooth ride. Very happy they provide a helmet. I rented in December and the weather was just right. I just sweated a bit pedaling through the wind to get to the Big Dam Bridge! I also got to see the beautiful fall foliage. Again, highly recommend biking to see some of Little Rock's awesome sites and get a taste of nature.
