That's my first negative review for any business. But this school is something else.My son will go…read moreto the first grade next year and now he is in kindergarten and he went to assessment to this school to go there next year to first grade and the principal talked to me super rudely saying he is not ready for the first grade because he can't read fluently books and can't multiply till 10 all the numbers.Really? He is not suppose to do all that in kindergarten. They told he can just be accepted in kindergarten again because of that. And they even refused me to see their kindergarten classroom saying you had a tour before.Such a bad experience.I never saw so rude people in school before.

(THEY KEEP DELETING MY REVIEW) DO NOT SEND YOU KID HERE!!…read morethis school gave my child trauma due to the bullying by staff and children. My child would be bullied by specifically the principal and vice principal, there was favoritism and racism. They treated brown and black children like they were a problem. They didn't even an official school nurse the vice principal was a nurse, and they have no medical training whatsoever. The school lunch prices are very unfair and if your child did not bring any type of lunch, they would let them sit there and starve for the day. The academics are very behind and did not prepare my child for high school or any type of other school. They gave unfair detentions, and THEY DONT EVEN LET PARENTS SEE CAMERA FOOTAGE, that's suspicious... I do not recommend this school the bullying, the racism, the untrained staff, the unorganized staff and much more. Please consider other schools. They would be better than this one.

Even though my son did improve on his reading scores this was not the school for him…read more The amount of work they made him do was not realistic. I also don't want him sitting in school all day and then coming home and doing homework all night. The academics were good in some classes but the Geometry teacher Mr. Brooks wasn't a good teacher and the Art teacher Ms Zolna was very rude to her students. The guidance counselor was not personable and focused more on academics then the overall well being of the student. I decided to homeschool my son this year.

Very rude, disrespectful office stuff. Every time I come to pick up my teenager a hispanic lady is…read moretalking to me with an attitude. At the same time another parent who was also Hispanic came to pick up her child today and she was talking very nice to her. Every time she's trying to correct the paper that I filled out for an early dismissal . The other Office staff is an elderly white lady, every time she greets me with "What's up ?" you wonder why kids don't have respect to adults these days , when their parents are being greeted in school with "What's up "instead of " "how are you doing ?" The first time she greeted me like that I took it actually as a compliment ( in my middle age ) thinking she thought of me as a high school student ,but next time she said it again and so did she greeted other parents. They say it takes the whole village to raise a child. What do you expect from teenagers to learn in the environment like that. I wonder how people without simple manors get these kind of jobs, if they talk to me like that I can't imagine how they talk to our children. But , there is a young guy who is helping them out in the office. He is always polite!

This is a review of the historical significance of the school building. Deerfield Beach Elementary…read moreis the second oldest school in Deerfield Beach and it is still in use. It is the second oldest operating school in Broward County. Another school was built in Deerfield Beach in 1920 but it was quickly outgrown which necessitated the building of a new school. The 1920 school is managed as a museum by the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. This two story L shaped masonry school in the Mediterranean Revival style was designed by the architectural firm of Thomas D. McLaughlin and Associates. McLaughlin was one of the Florida land boom architects. The school board purchased a parcel of land for $21,000. The Alfred W. Kimmel Company of Pompano Beach built the school in 1927 for a cost of $55,000. The school was designed to educate 1st through 8th grade with the students going on to Pompano beach for high school. The school was added to the National Register of historic Places in 1990. Architecture features of the school include arched walkways, terrazzo floors, Spanish terracotta barrel tiles, and a bell tower with Corinthian columns. There is a one and a half story auditorium wing that seats 277 people. When I went by it looked the building from 1927 was no longer in use. A more modern school has been built directly behind the historic building. I spoke to a friend who works at the school who told me that there is asbestos and mold damage in the 1927 building so it is empty. It's such a shame that it has deteriorated. The school has a legacy of having educated thousands of students.
