    Review Highlights - Deerfoot City

My favorite area is at The Food Lodge by the fireplace where there are couches to sit on and Deerfoot City also offers games, books, and cards.

On the last day of a given…read morebusiness trip to Calgary, I usually end up with some extra time and am in no hurry to hang out on the other side of Customs for long periods of time. So I hop in the car and either go to Chapters (near the other side of the airport) or pull up to the Canadian Tire Gas Bar and then stop in the main store and look around. Since I'm heading home, I usually have home projects on my mind, which makes it a dangerous time to come here. I have to remind myself to not pack any flammable liquids, not to buy anything that violates California VOC standards, and to make sure that anything I really need fits into the suitcase, and most importantly, I can explain it to Security if they open things up.

It's rare to see someone that can help and when you do they are usually clueless about what you're looking for. Their prices are OK and when they have sales they offer good prices. Their return policy is great though (3 months). I'd say ditch the Canadian Tire money. It's a waste of trees to make a bill that's worth 5 cents. And money that's only usable at their store. I just donate my money before I walk out the door... such a waste of trees. They seriously need to revamp and do something different or else they'll be following the tune of Zellers and Eaton.

I get that self-checkouts save you hundreds af thousands every year, increasing your profit margins along with the ever increasing prices. But to force your customers to be unpaid employees is shameful. Customer should ALWAYS have the option of using the self-checkout or not. This is the 3rd time i have been refused access to a regular till, and will not be returning. I know my lonesome protest won't impact you, but I hope others wake up amd follow suit. The research is clear on this topic amd Canadians are suffering more burnout amd stress than ever because of all the added, upon paid work they are forced to do after leaving their own job. Shame on you Dollarama.

Review #9 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012…read more Dollar Stores of any variety are a Mom's best friend. From Rubbermaid type containers, to knick knacky kitchen items, hangers, kids books, stocking stuffers, loot bag items, office supplies, bags/tissue/wrapping/cards, hair bobbles, paper & craft supplies and of course holiday related trinkets. A one stop shop when you need to be quick. I've never been to a dollar store that wasn't crammed full of inventory/people and this one is no different. And while I am not particularly fond of smallish crammed type places...I'm a dash and grabber (get in, find it, pay for it, get out).....otherwise distractions reign supreme and I end up spending $50 in a dollar store (been there, done that). This particular store seems to be short staffed and/or have a high staff turnover as I am always seeing new faces (employees) in the store and there are always boxes and boxes of store inventory waiting to be put on the shelves. I'm not sure how they keep up but it appears they must do a huge volume. They are a friendly bunch since in the past at least one of my kids (who has been with me) has had to use the washroom and they are accommodating. It's my go to more often than not as not many places can sell you a 12 pack of 8x10 envelopes for $1. Long live dollar stores!
