Instead a cavalier librarian with bejeweled nose mentioned 3x that the computers were shutting down! It was 4:35 but she continued repeating "We are closing The computers are shutting down" I only needed 5 minutes and it was unnerving.

She also said we were loud when we weren't. I know there are not as many racist encounters as back then but there was certainly one now. We loved it!…read moreThere is a cute room off to the side before you even enter the library where they hold story time and some of the other activities. The teacher was very involved and I loved all the toys that they brought out for the kiddos after the story time. We didn't explore the rest of the library, but I'm looking forward to doing that later. I will say that I love the parking lot here more than my home library. There's a ramp right near some parking spaces in the lot - perfect for moms with strollers!

This afternoon's library experience was here in Chester. This is a very large and quite modern…read morelibrary. Lots of glass and space, lots of open areas for reading, plenty of places to sit and study. I found a comfortable table in a "talking" area where I could take a Zoom meeting or two without disturbing other patrons. It's nice that the entire library isn't a quiet zone and supports this sort of thing. Of course, the wifi was easy to connect to and I had no trouble with power outlets for the laptop. It is always neat and clean and welcoming, and the displays are always fun and cute. I REALLY like that the staff are always willing to do a community outreach event and come to the local schools. Like all the libraries, I like that it has a nice selection of books and you can always transfer books between libraries if you need some thing that is not on the shelves.

The shelves were neatly organized and the nooks for reading were cozy. They have an active event calendar and even agreed to have me and some other poets host a poetry night!

Overall my experience was good. I had to come in several times before I could be seen by someone…read morebecause of days they were closed like election day and another day I was turned away even though it was completely empty because it wasn't a walk in day (but they won't make an appointment for disability plates and said I needed to walk in). When I came in it was about 9 am and there was a line out of the door. A gentlemen employee greeted me at the door and was very friendly and helpful. I had to wait about 45 min before being seen. The male employee was the one to assist me with my disability plates application. The woman in the middle booth was very personable and friendly as people came in. But the older woman employee in the far right booth was extremely rude to people that were coming in and that had questions. An older man tried to ask her a question for an elderly woman he was sitting next to and the woman screamed at him that it isn't his job to ask questions or help other people and he needed to sit down and be quiet till he is called. It was obvious that it was extremely uncomfortable for the many people in the room. That wasn't the only person during my wait that was spoken to like that either. I don't know if this is a common occurrence or perhaps the employee was just having a really bad day. Also make sure to have a mask on when you enter, although it is required for all federal facilities. A couple of different elderly people entered throughout my wait who did not have on a mask and the older female employee would immediately start screaming at them as they got to the door that they have to put on a mask or get out.

They have an outside locker where you can reserve books and pick them up at any time (even when they are closed). I did a quick glance but it looked like they had a lot of new titles available. If you have a library card you are allotted a certain number of copies for free. They also have a notary on site, which is handy if you need one. Love this library!!
